Compact design, all-tube tone, and onboard effects.

The Marshall Haze MHZ15 tube guitar amp head is brimming with 15W of power, iconic looks, and most of all, exemplary Marshall tone. This compact all-tube head features effects, reverb, and classic looks without a big footprint.

The Haze is covered in a vintage-style vinyl and fitted with protective corners. The hand-stretched baffle fretcloth, with its white piping finish, matches the complementing Haze cabinets, meaning you can combine it with 1 or 2 of them to create one cool-looking mid-sized stack.

Just because the Marshall Haze head is smaller than a standard tube head doesn't mean that it's quiet or lacking in power or tone that you expect from a Marshall amp—its 15W of all-tube power guarantees you the full Marshall experience.

The head is driven by an ECC83 preamp stage and 6V6 power amp stage, combining to create fantastic tube tone that belies its size.

The Haze 15 has both normal and overdrive channels with a shared EQ and onboard effects, providing a versatile sound set and delivering an all-tube tone in a compact package that performs just like an all tube amplifier should.

Designed in the same style as traditional Marshall Head amplifiers, the 2 distinctive footswitchable channels of the 15W Haze amplifier offer a variety of tonal possibilities. The Normal mode has bags of headroom and provides a rich and organic clean sound.

With the Overdrive channel the Haze amp head delivers a warm overdriven tone, and its separate Gain control makes it possible to dial in preamp drive, distorting your tone before it reaches the power stage to deliver a more gritty rock tone.

A Bright switch is shared between both the Normal and Overdrive channels. When engaged it lifts the overall sound achieved adding extra bite and sparkle and defining the edge of your tone when you need it.

Both the Normal and Overdrive channels use a shared 3-band EQ, allowing you to adjust the treble, middle, and bass response to suit your taste.

The effects section of the Haze 15 contains custom-voiced effects and reverb that have been specially designed by Marshall to complement the feel and tone of the amplifier. Each effect selected on the channel will be remembered when you return to the channel, meaning you can set up your clean and overdrive sounds and return to them over and over again without having to readjust your settings. The warm emulated spring reverb has its own independent control, allowing you to add as much or as little reverb as required. For those who want to completely remove the reverb circuitry from the equation, the reverb control is fitted with a positive off switch. Rotating the control counter-clockwise you will feel a click indicating that the reverb circuitry is disengaged.

The 3 selectable effects in the Haze 15 reflect the overall feel of the tone available and have been designed to work with the tone of the amplifier to ensure that every one feels rich and satisfying.

Effects are selected using the front panel effects button and indicated by the color of the LED. Green indicates that Echo effect is selected, orange shows that Vibe is selected, and Red indicates Chorus. By using the effect level control you can determine just how much of the effect you want in your sound.

This amp head is simple to use and its familiar layout means that you won't have to spend forever figuring out how to use it. Every Marshall Haze 15 is supplied with its own 2-way footswitch, so you don't have to use the front panel to change channels or switch the effects on or off, simply stomp your preferences like a true pro.

For years I have carried gear around that is too heavy and too powerful for the job and I was always having to turn down my old faithful JCM800 4104 combo; it never got to ?breathe?.So I bought the Haze 15 and matching speakers and it has been awesome!Firstly, the sound - The cleans are really chimey, but turn the volume up and that ACDC bite comes in, all at a volume that doesn?t get me complaints. The overdrive is more than enough. At about 6 on the dial, there is as much OD as my old 800 with a tubescreamer. I only turn up beyond this for practice when I want a bit more sustain to make up for the lack of volume.I did not buy this amp for the effects, I was more interested in the fact that you can turn them completely off, but, I have started to use them on a couple of songs. I would never bother if it meant carrying around the pedals, but as they are built in, I use them. They sound fine. The last thing is the cabinets. These took a while to break in, but then the cabinets can take 66 watts each, so the amp never really stresses them, but they sound nice and sweet now and, they make for a nice narrow rig which on some of the smaller stages I play on is great. In summary, this is the classic Marshall sound (think 60s to 80s not 90s onward) in a really practical package that kicks!

I've been playing for 38 years and this little amp has the right combination of tone/portability/features. Love this amp! Just as clean and bell like on the clean channel as my Mesa Boogie Maverick. Turn the clean channel up to 1 or 2 o'clock and control the volume with your guitar volume controls and you can play clean rhythm with the volume rolled back, and then switch to nice lead with distortion like a tube screamer by rolling the volume up.

I have three complaints - the high gain channel is too distorted at low settings, there is no STANDBY switch and there are limited outputs (see below). Gain can only be set to around 2-3 at the maximum or the sound turns to mush. It does sound great at low settings...think Hendrix on The Wind Cries Mary. Starts to break up early so a little gain goes a long way. However, this is not a metal amp so if that's your main style, then pass it up. More suitable for blues or rock.

The digital effects are nice to have and the vibe and chorus are particularly useful. The amp allows you to switch channels, and the switching is quick with no lag. Each channel remembers the effect that was previously used on that channel. The amp is quiet when turned up, and with good humbuckers there is practically no hum at high volumes.

The amp is plenty loud for a small venue. The key to sound and volume is to get efficient speakers. The speakers in the Marshall MHZ112A/B cab aren't that good. I've tried this through several cabs and the better the speakers the better the sound. The output is for a single 8 ohm speaker or a single 16 ohm speaker or two 16 ohm speakers. it would have been nice to have it accomodate a 4 ohm load so that it would have more flexibility, but thats not the case. The MHZ112A and MHZ112B are both 16 ohm speakers.

Comments about Marshall Haze MHZ15 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I started looking for an amp to play at open mic nights at our local pub. I was tired of carrying a big combo up the flight of stairs. I considered the Blues Jr. but it didn't have the tones or meat to suit my blues tunes...go figure. Since I had a Haze 40 combo and have had no issues with it in the year of ownership I started looking into the 15 watt head and both seperate cabs. I considered the Orange head and cab, but they are to in your face distortion for my style of music. Don't get me wrong, this thing will distort "when you want it to". Ok, the musicians over on the Marshall forum beat this series and the MA series to death because they are made over seas. Back to the good...I can now carry my head and guitar up the stairs much easier and go back for the other cab. The first night out with it I was amazed how it kept up with the band.... and we are friggen loud in that venue. After the first set and taking a break, people were coming up not beleiving all that was coming out of my set up and I only brought one cab!. There's no effects loop but the built in delay, chorus, and reverb do the job well enough for what I do. It's a shame Marshall is discontinuing these models. If portabilty and decent tone and bang for the $$ look no further there's not many around any more. The only thing I would suggest if you purchase the cabs is replacing the Chinese Celestions with something else like greenbacks or the Cannibus Rex.

Comments about Marshall Haze MHZ15 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

The Haze 15 is an excellent alternative to larger and heavier Marshall heads. It gets plenty loud for most performance purposes, is well-built, offers classic Marshall tube-based sound supplemented with usable on-board effects, and slots nicely between lunchbox-size heads and full-size rigs which weigh a ton and put out more power than can be reasonably used in most venues.

    Boutique vibe, marshall name

    By brian dennigan

    from New York

Comments about Marshall Haze MHZ15 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

First, two channels. EQ and effects work with both. Foot switchable (included). Different cab combinations possible. You can use this amp for bedroom practice or club work.may not get you the metal crunch you're lookin for but for rock, blues or jazz.its there in spades. Effects memory once dialed in. Like I said boutique vibe Marshall sound.
Perfect club amp. Two channels and nearly infinite sounds. Clean or dirt, it's all here. Portability, looks, sound all in one package. Purchased the restock to save some bucks and had no issues. Plug and play right out of the box.
Two channels, effects, foot peddle. What else do you need. Especially if your a plugs and play guy (or gal).
Big bang for the restock buck. Marshall sound and name. Portable, looks, sound.

Killer little head. Who doesn't need a little killer head?

    By chris bell

    from Charlotte Metro USA

Comments about Marshall Haze MHZ15 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Can't beat it for the money and it is very easy to transport.
I have had all sort's of amp's . Used to believe you needed 50 watt's to be heard.I have had JVM's , JCM's , VOX , Fender and other's. This little head will give you the great tube sound that Marshall is known for. With two cabs hooked to it , you can hit the chorus and get a great Rush sound , the echo and vibe are cool FX too. Reverb is great with alot of ajustability. You may think that 15 watt's will not be enough for you , but that is bull. You could play anything up to a ampitheater with the stack. It get's that loud....and clear, or dirty, or whatever you want. Build Quality is good , just wish these amp company's would get away from these plastic input and output jack's. Great , Marshall look's and it make's a killer stack if you get the matching cabs. This may be the last amp I ever buy.
Just don't like the plastic input and output's but all amp companys are doing that these day's. Still does'nt make it right.
    All you need .

    Purple (HAZE) 15? Great Head

Comments about Marshall Haze MHZ15 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

Had to return after 4 days of playing. It lost the volume control completely. Dead Dead!
The replacement is fantastic. I absolutely love the sound of this amp. I competes with any boutique amp I have played or previewed. If you are looking for late 60's, 70's and early 80's rock (not so much metal) this is the amp for you. Gets very loud and responsive when turned up. It needs to be cranked to get the tubes juices flowing.
This Haze 15 head compliments most any quality open back cab. The Haze cabs are ok, but not the best quality. Cheap wood construction, made of chip core.
I would recommend this head to anyone looking for a clean or good blues amp. After the initial kink in quality and am extremely happy.
    Useable effects and 2 channels
    Need better quality control
    Reasonable

The Chorus is good, echo sounds great. I have let other active musicians play through it they love the sound. I have Recorded with it a few times to. no problems keeping up with drums and organs. 20 yrs ppl will be searching these out I bet for their collection.

    Amazing clean tone

    By Telerific

    from Big Rapids

Comments about Marshall Haze MHZ15 15W Tube Guitar Amp Head:

I bought a Haze 15 head and had to return it as the effects didn't work and the bottom was warped near the on/off switch. MF was great in assisting me with the return and I had a new one within 10 days. I purchased this head because I have never heard a better clean tone. I played through a Egnator Rebel 20 and a Vox Night Train when I was looking for an amp with great tone. The Egnator had no character and the Vox was very bright and harsh. I used to own an Ampeg VL1002 and a Mesa Tremoverb. The Mesa sounded amazing but still didn't have the clean tone of the Marshal Haze 15. The guy working at the music store brought in the Haze 15 and I couldn't believe how amazing the tones were. I had no idea this head existed-let alone that it had 6V6 power tubes. I ordered one that night from MF. I can't stop playing my guitar now. This is the tone I searched for, for the last 20 years.
