OVERVIEW

The stack found onstage with metal and rock masters everywhere.

The all-valve JCM800 2203 is one of the most highly respected 100W Marshall heads in the company's long history. Evolving from the legendary Plexi head, it was one of the first Marshall amps to feature a master volume control. The essence of simplicity, the JCM800 is a one-channel, all-valve amp with no reverb or effects. Its easy control panel, distinctive roar, and larger-than-life edge immediately set the standard by which all other rock amps were judged and it remained the industry benchmark throughout the entire 16 years of its production life. Now it's back by popular demand and just like the 1959SLP and 1987X it has a Series Effects Loop with true bypass that takes the loop completely out of the circuit ensuring the original tone isn't compromised in any shape or form. 30"W x 9"H x 12"D. 41 lbs.

The Marshall 1960AV 4X12 guitar cab is a backline staple that features 4 Celestion Vintage 12" speakers and an impedance (4 or 16 ohm) mono/stereo switching mechanism.

FEATURES
  • JCM800 2203 Head:
  • 100W
  • 4 EL34s in the power stage

  • 3-band EQ
  • Presence control
  • 1960AV Cab:
  • 4 Celestion Vintage 12" speakers

This will be my third Marshall JCM 800 i've bought (First one brand new). I also have a 1971 Les Paul with high output pickups and run a Boss Over drive pedal thru the front! Its smooth attack, beautiful bottom end great frequencies and overall sound are second to none! Now I'm gonna see whether I want the vintage 30 watter cabinet or the 75 watt cabinet for it! Truly the godliest, fluffiest, chunkiest everything sound! From ultra sustainiac leads to chunky rhythms and everything in between. - one thing yes you can record it clean in the studio thru the low input which sounds awesome but I like my fender twin to channel switch due to that this is a one channel amp. THE BEST ONE CHANNEL AMP EVER AND NEVER TO BE EMULATED ONLY IMITATED! :)

I owned this exact same rig for about 3-1/2 years in the late 1980s. I traded it for a JCM 900 half stack because this thing has only 1 preamp channel (in other words, you can only get 1 sound at a time without tweaking the knobs on the amp or your guitar). It IS very loud, and if you have a killer preamp running in front of this amp you can't go wrong with getting a godlike crunch. But on its own, you really have to beat your notes out of this amp to get a nice saturated growl. Believe me, I play thrash metal, and have put my gear through its paces. If you want the ultimate tube slave amp and have money to burn for no good reason, then this Marshall is for you.

I hate this amp

By hrmuffin

from Prescott, AZ

I used it in a couple of recording sessions, and during the play back, I realized that the only time it sounded really good was in the sections where I was playing the amp flat out. This is a one dimensional amp and those who are looking for that particular sound will probably love it, but it did nothing for me.

Awesome amp

This amp is the best amp I have ever played. I love this amp, I only have the head and play it through a Randall but it still sounds great. I play mainly with a Gibson Explorer. It gives awesome tones much like AC/DC. With a Squire Strat, it has a certain snap that sounds awesome. Also with a Bradley Les Paul Copy it had such well-defined tone that I can't get enough. Like any other Marshall it sounds better the louder it is. Buy this amp if you want great tone, especially if you are an AC/DC fan like myself.

I use this amp with numerous church praise bands and in my hardcore band. It fits all styles wonderfull and can achieve high volume with the volume knob on 2! i have never gone over the number 3 with my volume at a show. with teh gain cranked up and the mids scooped it will blast everyones face off. this is how i role. no matter what style you play this amp is for you!

The Quest for Tone is Over

Tried them all! Got rid of them all!, except my JCM 800. It`s just that "Chopping, Clanging, Skwelching, Brown sounding, Transparency" thing, nothing else can parallel. It must have been a mistake! Todays Marshalls dont "cut" like this baby. Load it up with an overdrive & effects and you`ve got a certified pilots licence. Stack, half stack, 2x12 combo, as long as it`s a JCM800 Master Vol you`re stinging. Had mine for nearly 20 yrs. Must be love!!

Best amp ever

By Anonymous

I bought one of these a few years ago, and although it was pretty expensive, it was worth every cent. With the overdrive cranked, you get a really sweet AC/DC kind of sound, or the way I play it, with the overdrive turned to "1" and the master volume turned up, you get a beautiful crystal-clear clean sound. I've honestly never played an amp before or since that has been able to satisfy me like this one. If you don't have one, I highly recommend you try one out, as you'll fall in love the way that many other guitarists have.

best marshall

By jon-0hvGu

An 800 has amazing tone and power. Words can not describe how awesome this head is. The gain by itself is more of a classic sound, but when you add a boss metal zone it can be used to play black metal. it's amazing what can be done with one of these. As you can see this is also a choice of legendary guitar players. I would recommend this amp for rock to metal players. this is one mean half stack.

Great amp!

By Marshallfan

This amp is great! It has way more than enough power to do gigs without running through the PA system. Lots of power. You can get great sounds out of it but I still like to use Boss pedals to feel more in control.
