Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
The tone is just not there. And for nearly $2000, one would expect a useable tone. I took a chance and ordered one of these because of the glowing "tone" reviews. But I guess tone is in the ear of the beholder. I didn't hear it. Sounded thin, tinny and small and cheap.
I put this amp next to my Fender Deluxe Reverb and A-B'd them. My hope was to dial in a dirty sound to switch back and forth. I knew right away that I couldn't go on stage with the Marshall. The Fender sounds 3-D. You feel it all around. It's full and rich and just "there." The Marshall sounded cheap by comparison.
Yes, I know they are two totally different voiced amps. And yes, I realize the Marshall is a modeling amp. But for $2000, you could get a Rivera combo that would totally smoke this amp in tonal quality.
I really appreciate Musicians Friend's customer support. They were totally cool about me returning it and even paid for the shipping. They will eventually get that money back from me in the future.
Bottom line... $2000 is what you'd pay for a boutique amp. So I would advise buying a boutique if you are gonna spend this kind of coin. I didn't find any useable tones.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
I was looking for really clean sound, and I happened to try this amp in a club and decided to buy one. My Fender Stratocaster through the clean channel sounds heavenly like a Dire Straits tune. I also have Gibson ES339, and it sounds equally great, picking up all the nuances of respective guitars. I personally like the Gibson through my Fender Blues Jr. amp better though.
But if you want just 1 amp, I'd pick this Marshall. From the clean to dirty, it just handles it really well. I don't even feel the need for any external pedals. Just plug in and start playing.
I originally purchased an used one, but it turned out to be defective. But it wasn't a hassle at all to exchange it to a new one, thanks to great customer service at Musicians Friend. The new one came with a defective cable to the foot pedal, and Musician's Friend ship a new cable the same day I made the call.

Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
One disappointment was some cosmetic damage from shipping. The mesh has a slight puncture. The original box is inadequate for shipping. The low quality labor here in Laredo is probably to blame. The Pedal's default settings are ok but I am unable to figure out how to customize it. That may be my fault but the instructions are about useless. The feedback in the orange and red is the worst I've ever heard. Even at low volume there's a loud hum. It's a good amp despite this but for the price Id look at something else.
Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
I used this amp in a local music store and it was by far one of the greatest amps i have ever played through. The tone was great. I was expecting it to be made for more AC/DC rock type stuff (not a very heavy sound or enough distortion for heavy metal) but when i plugged it in it was perfect. This amp is great for anything. I highly suggest this amp.
Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
I purchased this amp several weeks ago and I am very happy with it. It is extremely versatile and can go from really good cleans to filthy distortion and basically every famous Marshall sound in Between. At first I had a bit of trouble figuring out the footswitch, but that could just be me. I also found the price very reasonable for a good quality amp.
Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
This amp is simply freakin' sweet! Great tone and awesome Marshall sound in a easy to use combo. The control layout is intuitive and easy to work with. The programmable footswitch is handy to have. The range of sound this amp produces is great. Only drawback is the sucker is heavy so lift carefully!
Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
I traded my line 6 bogner half-stack for this baby!!!I use my Gibson studio deluxe with this amp.Pro's - First and foremost...Great clean and distortion sounds/tones. You can dial up jazz sounds to heavy metal. Incredible!. It just has that warm-brown sound as compared to my Line6...for both clean and distortion. If you want to run an extension cab from it you can. It has lots of variations to choose from. Probably won't need to...this thing has plenty of volume. It's heavy and solid...watch your back!Con's - picked up the floor model...'cause that's the only one the store had...got it home and started jammin on it and I noticed a rattling sound coming from inside the amp when I would play a G note. Took it back...the guy took it apart to find that one of the preamp tubes was shaking...replaced it but it didn't fix the problem so they gave me a new one in the box. No problems now. Also, the channel switching buttons seem a little cheap...like they are a little loose. The footswitch that comes with it...I wish the switches were just a little further apart. When playing live and your jammin' it's easy to hit the switch next to it so you have to be a little careful. And i have to get used to switching between channels coming from a Line 6...which switches right on the money...with this footswitch it's just different...seems like there's just a little delay...probably just due to the fact I'm not used to the footswitch buttons.Direct out - when I tried using the direct out line for recording...the mic cable wouldn't fit...the plug is recessed a little deeper than normal...my buddy had a extension for the cable and then it worked.Overall - Love the amp. sounds great. Just a solid combo with great vintage celestions. Has just a few small flaws that may not bother some . The more I play with it the more I love it. I've tried Line 6, Peavey, and Fender combo's...but I always come back to Marshall.
Comments about Marshall JVM Series JVM205C 50W 2x12 Tube Combo Amp:
The JVM is a superb amp. It's a collection of classic and modern tones. From JTM45 and 1959 plexi sounds to all out mid-scooped and hot-rodded JCM800.Digital reverb isn't bad, but I don't care for it much. Noisy on the high-gain modes, but easily fixed because you don't need to set the gain real high to get plenty of distortion.Great features. 2 master volumes, master reverb, channel memory, footswitch w/memory, and 2 effects loops. This amp is well built and definitely road worthy. The vintage and heritage speaker combination is great. Stock tubes are great, changing to JJs or something won't make much difference I don't think.I love this amp. It's a keeper for sure.
