Comments about Marshall MG Series MG2CFX 2W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Great as a portable practice amp. I've stuffed one into a padded duffle to take on vacations along with my Strat in a padded gig bag. Very light and very compact and so far, very durable. The tone is not that great though. It's hard to get a clean tone, and cranking the gain up even a little results in a fairly muddy sound. I didn't expect tube amp sound and I didn't get it. But I appreciate the main objective of this inexpensive little gem- for taking along on the road for practicing.

Comments about Marshall MG Series MG2CFX 2W 1x6.5 Guitar Combo Amp:

Firstly I wasnt expecting very much given that many people seem to criticize the MG line. Also I am spoilt for amps by having two tube amps. I bought this to practice when I am on business trips. My previous experience with very small amps includes the Roland Micro Cube and the Blackstar HT1.

First of all it is very clear to me that the Marshall is clearly superior to the Roland in terms of clean and distorted sound. The
Roland starts to sound quite wonky when driven hard and I did not really find any settings that I was comfortable with. The Blackstar was a lovely amp and while I cannot be as definitive as I was with the Roland this amp is at the very least comparable if not better. Its important to remember that is is also about a third of the price. So far I have used it with a Fender Blacktop HSH Strat and the sound is really great. I have used it mainly to play clean with reverb turned to half and doing some shredding in the first of the OD2 setting. It manages the high gain sounds remarkably well. I must of course say that I am playing in a hotel room so I cannot turn the sound up. Having said that I am really really pleased and that I guess is what counts the most.
