OVERVIEW

Awesome analog tone and precision tonal tweaking.

The 1x12 Marshall MG101FX is a 100W combo amp with 4 programmable channels, awesome analog tone, adjustable FX, and more amazing features. Now at your disposal is a separate digital Delay, meaning that a total of 3 custom-voiced FX can be combined at once”Reverb, Modulation (Chorus/Phaser/Flanger), and Delay”creating near-endless FX possibilities. What's more, the Reverb and Delay FX decay naturally when switching between channels for a truly fluid performance. If you want to add extra pedals and/or rack effects, you can make use of the amp's switchable External FX.

Set in series and at instrument level, this send and return system is suitable for both guitar and professional units alike. Also present in the MG101FX amp is Marshall's custom power-amp damping circuitry. Switch effortlessly between the feel of a classic power amp, with the emphasis on middle, and that of boosted speaker resonance in both bass and treble frequency ranges, magnifying the response and projection of your tone. All the above are switchable via the front panel and/or the included programmable MG Footcontroller, affording you complete control.

You'll also find that the Headphone socket on this top-tier Marshall MG doubles as a very handy Line Out, ideal for sending your jaw-dropping solos to any external unit you wish”a computer, digital recorder, or PA system, for example. As with the use of headphones, the amp's speaker is muted, allowing for silent recording. Output can then be directly monitored from the external equipment being used.

  • 1 x 12" speaker
  • 4 programmable channels
  • Adjustable FX
  • Separate digital Delay

I have an original MG30. I've always liked this amp and wished I had gotten a more powerful one. I didn't want to spend the money on a tube Marshall but I like the Marshall sound. I gig out with a 1987 Carvin XB100 100 watt head through cabinets with Celestion and Eminence Texas Heat speakers. I don't want to haul this rig to rehearsal, so I took the MG30. When really cranked, it sounded great. I got a good deal here on a MG100DFX and bought it. I've had it almost two weeks now and am finally starting to like it after experimenting. If you are looking for that Marshall sound, this is it. I will caution you though, this amp is for playing with that sound, it's not a versatile amp if you are playing an array of different music. I prefer an Allman Bros./Led Zeppelin type Marshall sound myself which can be achieved by turning the gain on about two and turning the master volume up. I don't really like the clean channel as there is a big volume drop off. I really don't like the stock speaker. I was disappointed that there was no external speaker jack. I solved this by rigging up a speaker junction box. Adding two Texas Heat speakers, the sound was vastly improved. I think the amp has a lot of treble to it and even my Celestions sounded tinny. I use a '72 Les Paul Custom, a '74 Gibson L6S and a '62 reproduction Strat. With the Strat, I pretty much turn the bass up and the treble down. I didn't like the effects loop, I lost a lot of boost. My pedal board worked much better running it through the input jack. The onboard effects are decent although I'm not a flange guy. Plenty of power though. If you want Marshall sound on the cheap, this is it. I would recommend definitely using different speakers with it. Maybe just buy the head if you have cabinets.

The amp is great, loud, clear and has plenty off effects. The programmable footswitch is very cool, dampening and storing works just as intended. I have several distortion pedals, the distortion you get from the amp is comparatively just as good. Sure the pedals get more harmonic tones and deep crunch, but you also get buzz from the pedal itself if its turned up. The distortion off the amp has almost the same crunch, slightly less harmonic tones, but not anywhere near the buzz. You hear the speaker breathing, that's about it. Great deal on a great amp.

Famed Marshall Quality

By Robert Schafer

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Overall, I am happy with my purchase. I wasn't looking for a top of the line amplifier but wanted the features and great sound of a more expenzive stack. I have been able to play around with it a bit and you can get a bunch of different sounds out of it. Quality amp, really fast shipping, happy customer.
For a combo amp, it packs some decent features. The built in effects work well and sound good. Included foot controller works as expected; just switches between channels.
Time will tell, but as far as I'm concerned at the moment, it has classic Marshall styling and seems to be very well constructed. It is heavy and sturdy so you don't have to worry about it getting damaged unless you drop it down a flight of stairs or kick it.
It is no secret that Marshall amps are sold at a premium, but I believe that you also get a premium product from a company that has stood the test of time. It can hold it's own versus any amp in the price range. Built into the value, as well, is Marshall's 5 year component warranty (3 years on the speaker).

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I have had this amp for four months now and have had a chance to play gigs with it at gig volume. I have been using it with just the stock speaker. Any reservations I have had are gone. By experimenting, I am getting all the sounds I want from country to hard rock and roll. Using the clean channel with the gain full open, the crunch button off and adding a Boss Blues Driver pedal, I am getting a great blues, country, country rock edge with my Highway One Telecaster. I keep the overdrive channel set for pure rock and it is great. With my Gibsons, it is amazing. If you are playing large venues and are a metal head or are a professsional with cash , yeah, go the tube route. I've had and played both and can't tell alot of difference between this amp and some tube amps. As far as solid state amps go, this is one of the best I've played. It's what sounds good to you. Personally, I think a wall of cabinets aren't going to help if you can't play. I auditioned with a band where the other guitar player had a much more expensive boutique tube head and cabinet but my rig sounded so much better. Louder does not necessarily mean better tone. This amp will serve the needs of the regular player. I have gotten nothing but compliments on my sound with this amp. Go to the Marshall website and watch the demo, it's accurate. Again, for the money, this is the Marshall sound at a low price.

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

For affordable Marshall tone and duribilty and versatile sounds this thing is my number one choice. I researched and tried multiple amps in the price range when I Purchased mine and this was my favorite and I would highly recomend the marshall MG line to anyone looking for that Marshall tone but not looking to pay normal marshall price
The features really make this thing impresive, four chanels of marshall tone to morph into your own personal masterpiece of sound. Easy to program and several tunable effects really make this amp versatile. I use it for transing cleans to bluesy crunchy rock to bone crushing metal. ITS MEAN!!!
Marshall quality at its best Ive had no problems whatsoever with this amp its very solid.
The value is unbeatable if you want marshall tone but cant for out the normal price for one. I was in love when I saw the demo for this line. When I bought mine the single twelve was the price the two twelve is now. So now that its cheaper its an even better deal.

GREAT AMP! Dont listen to MG haters

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is great, I love it! The tone is fantastic for a solid state! The clean and crunch channel sounds pure, very nice. The OD1 channel can give you a nice classic rock sound, fantastic for Zeppelin freaks like me. The OD2 channel has a bit too much dirt for my taste but its not a major issue, it will give you a decent, Rhoads, EVH sound. The amp is loud and great for gigging, a bit heavy for a single speaker though (50 lbs.). The sound quality is good in low and high volumes. I LOVE the fact it comes with built in effects. The only thing i didnt like very much about it was the delay, not that it sounds bad, but setting the time is a bit difficult, a pedal is recommended for that, but its not completetly necessary. All in all, a great amp wether its for gigging, recording or just practicing, buy it, u wont be dissapointed

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Overall this is a great amp. I live in a place where I must respect other people not want to listen to loud music, but this amp is very loud. I turn it up.......barely..........and it's fine. I could do a show with this thing and be plenty loud enough.
This amp is bigger than I expected, but it is also an awesome Marshall!

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp truly fulfills a gigging musicians needs. It provides a great clean and crunch channel, two great overdrive channels, a footswitch which can switch between all 4 channels and a truly great sound. I bought this amp to replace a single channel am to give me a variety of sounds and it is proving to be a great buy. Marshall also provide a 3 year warranty which can't be bad.
This is laden with so many features. 4 channels, separate reverb and delay, 3 effects which can be assigned individually to each channel, full programmability for each channel, damping siwtch which changes the character of the amp from classic to modern, an effects loop and a great sound to boot. Each channel can be programmed and saved easily. There is also the availabilty of a preset mode where the sounds are predefined by Marshall. It takes a little time to really get to know the amp but it really isn't rocket science. Moreover the sounds produced are superb and this amp is loud with a capital 'L'.
The amp looks and feels like a real Marshall. Having owned a JCM 900 1x12 this stands up nicely to that amp. Relatively small, very nice vinyl covering great quality dials and not too heavy. Comes with a stock fot pedal to change channels which also is nice and sturdy.
I bought this amp as a 'stupid deal of the day' price and have not looked back. The price makes this amp the bargain of the decade. I bought this amp on a whim because of the truly great price and I am truly amazed. The sounds just on channel 1 are worth the money alone. Nice clean channel with an organic quality. Great great crunch channel which sounds just like any valve Marshall. Then you have 2 more channels and a host of effects to play with. Nothing short of fabulous.

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

What can I say Marshall has done it again. This is why all famous musicians use marshall there sound quality and volume is amazing.
I got this on the stupid deal of the day. That deal wasn't stupid at all. It was the best decision I've ever made! The amp is very loud. At just level 3 it is very loud. The sound quality is amazing and it can handle a lot of damage. This amp is perfect for just practicing at home or even playing a 500 person gig. This amp is perfect for almost any genre. I've seen that it gives a very nice heavy metal sound and a nice blues noise but with out a doubt the sound is very clear and precise for any genre.
Top notch sound quality, Top notch volume, this is a great amp. And the sound is also amazing with the headphones in.
This is a very good price for this amp. Every penny is worth it. This amp will last you YEARS to come. I treat my amps very poorly and almost all my amps are destroyed within a year but this amp has held on very well. Not even a ding on the body. The noise is also impecable and worth every penny.

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

I love this amp it can get really heavy for Lamb of God riffs and then nice cleans for some Black Label Society. I use the Chorus in cleans to give it a nice soothing sound, and a phaser for riffs like the outro to Floods by Pantera. The only thing I was dissapointed about this amp was not enough gain, for Pantera covers. and I would definetly recomend getting the programable foot switch because if you don't want the effects on then every time you switch channels the effects are on again

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp has everything you could ever wish for. It has an excellent reverb, great delay, and an awesome fx loop. It gives you the choice to store your effects on four seperate channels, or you can switch it to manuel (like I did), and you can always reset it to factory presets if you screw it up!
I ran my Dean and my Fender into this baby, and I was in heaven! I'm not trying to sound like a promotion ad, but this amp just gets better and better the more I use it. I can use the clean channel with some minor chorusing and delay for a gorgeous clean sparkle, or I can switch over to crunch for a bit more growl. The lead channels are great for rock leads from Journey to Metallica and everything in between.
When I first got it, I tweaked it for a good lead sound and played Cliffs of Dover, and the tone sounded perfect! If you are considering buying this thing, don't wait for something else to distract you, buy this thing, NOW!!!

    Amazing Amp - Amazing Service!

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

Overall this amp is loud, friendly and really flexible. Its perfect for any guitar player looking for that authentic marshall sound without paying the super high price.
It sounds great and has a ton of tonal combinations:
    Clean, Cruch and 2 overdrives.

EQ, reverb, delay and choice amongst: chorus, flanger and phaser effects.

It also has fx out and you can hook it up to a speaker cab.

    Presets and more!
What can I say its a Marshall!

It did come with a chip on the cab but I called customer service and within 5 minutes they totally took care of everything!
Normally this was a great deal at $479 but I got it at a stupid deal price at $249, best purchase I've made on musical equipment yet!

I have had a Marshall in the past, and ever since then I have kicked myself in the backside for getting rid of it. Now that I have another one, I will never go back! The sound, the quality, there is no other amp on the market that can touch a Marshall.
The features on this amp are the best! I haven't purchased a new amp in almost 15 years, and compared to the amps of the past, this one is amazing! I love having the effects built right in. But the one thing that is the most amazing is the Marshall sound. There is no equal!
    It's a Marshall. Need I say more?
For the price, there is no equal. This thing rocks!

Comments about Marshall MG4 Series MG101FX 100W 1x12 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp is a great buy for anyone looking to get started, especially if gigs are in the future. Supplies plenty of power for an outdoor concert while holding up marvelously against the banging that comes with non professional packing ;) Aside from the few battle scars mine has already endured it is still in great shape and sounds just as amazing as the day I got it.As far as cons go, while this is great for starting out as you save on the pedals, you will have to get some eventually. The effects are difficult to handle and take a while to get use to, but no biggy once you get a nice peddle to go with it and they sound pretty decent for a while.
