Absolutely LOVE this little amp !!! Very impressed with the sound and volume from this little thing !!

And... I got what Musician's Friend refers to as a 'restock'. It was explained to me that 'restock' actually means a 'second'... Meaning during testing, Marshall found something that was not quite up to standards, so the unit was sold at a reduced price.

For the life of me, I... or anyone else I have demonstrated it to... cannot hear *anything* wrong with this little lion !!

It's not intended for 'live performances', but for sitting and messing around at a local a bar or at a barbecue, it's absolutely great !! LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT.

I travel with work & wanted something to tote along with me for hotel stays. I bought this over the vox amplug because I simply refused depending on a battery. I regret this decision substantially. This amp is pretty awful, it sounds like the speaker is literally inside of a garbage can. If you want to hear the clean tone over your guitar, you'll be sacrificing the "clean" by turning the volume & tone up. The result is a crunchy, stale & noisy mess. Mine is always hissing & like one reviewer before me stated: don't even think about putting pedals in front of it. Pedals make the speaker sound like it's scrunching up & you can't hear the tone of the effects whatsoever. The only plus is the fact that you can play guitar in small enclosed settings at low volumes, but what's the point if the only half clean tone comes when it's quieter than the guitar itself? I will be selling this for a vox ac30 amplug.

Its a good belt amp!

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

Dispite all the other reviews, I think its a good little belt amp, its not intended for a gig people! It just a nice little toy to have when your walking around. And giving the fact that its that small and that loud, Its pretty good! Its got just as much gain to it as you would expect from a JCM 800. I like to keep it in the car, just in case I get bored while I'm out!

It's not a practice amp

By Ben-Jammin! 8]

from Texas 8]

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

most people are probably thinking that this thing is for sitting down and practicing. it can do that for sure... but it's better for what it's made more. Clipping it on your belt and rocking out. That's why the clip is so big. it could be bigger, but you can probably replace it with a better one. it doesnt have the best sound at all, but it sacrifices tone, for being able to do powerslides and not make a shaking noice or anything. the only thing that could probably be approved is adding like another knob or a button.

not the marshall sound you'd like BUT there's hope!

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

The hope is in the effects. This actually gives a very good sound WHEN you add an effect pedal to it. In my case, I use the LINE 6 Pocket Pod with my Traveler Ultra-Light Electric guitar when I go out to travel. The many settings of the LINE 6 pocket especially the custom settings will give you a true sound that is AMAZING (and did I say customizable). That said, the limitations of the MS-2 would be gone. that's the HOPE i'm talking about!
a little amp, the sound gets louder when you OD it. deaf during clean. What did you expect?
had this since 2004, still works. I have the red limited edition one too!

    Portability has a Price

    By Satanic Anarchist

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

It's cool how this amp is small, portable, and operates on 9 volt batties, but the base tone is pretty bad. The clean channel is so sterile sounding and the overdrive channel is too mellow and acts too much like a tube amp. If I want a practice amp I don't want something that plays like a tube amp minus the tubes. Also, the headroom of this amp is ferociously bad. Look I understand that practice amps are supposed to be quiet, but you really cannot plug any kind of pedal into this thing without clipping the speakers or causing the unit to overheat. There is one set up that I found to work and produce a really good tone.Guitar>>>>>>>>>Russian Big Muff (Volume 1'oclock, Sustian 9'oclock, Tone 1'oclock)>>>>>>>>Digitech Metal Master (Level: doesn't matter, Low: 12'oclock, High: 12'oclock, Morph: max)>>>>>>>>Marshall MS-2(Volume: 12'oclock, Tone: 9'oclock, Clean channel)Don't even try to put any volume boosting pedals(such as a Boss HM-2) in front of this thing. You'll just clip the speakers and cause the amp to overheat.

This is a good "goofing around" amp. When you want to be mobile but need that extra boost.
Good amp for kids who are getting started and won't bug the world. Battery life is pretty good if you use it occasionally. Overdrive has a nice sound too.

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

I bought this amp about a week ago. At first it worked fine, all the controls worked and the input jack worked. but the clean channel clips to easily. it would only stay clean until the volume is about up to 6-7, then the clean channel distorts. the Overdrive channel is even worse. you can't hear anything. i have an Ibanez sz and through this amp, it sounds horrible.

Comments about Marshall MS-2 Mini Amp:

I bought this thing years ago because I thought it was just cool and it still works! Is it the best sounding thing, nope. It is a novelty item. As long as you look at it as such you won't be disappointed. I actually played it before buying it and it was just fun. Like I said, not a great sound but I have actually used it for quiet practice with headphone and for that is works just fine. I read one review that said "don't put pedals in front of it". Why would you? It wasn't meant for that.
