The price may deter you on this pedal, but it really is an excellent distortion box. I use low-wattage tube amps, and this pedal recreates the sound of the amp naturally overdriving with more gain and sustain. The gain knob has enough range so that you can get Tubescreamer sounds out of it, but this thing is best suited for dirtier tones. the EQ is very expressive, and the mid boost knob is great. There's a built-in noise gate, but I haven't really needed it. If you can afford it, this will be an excellent addition to your rig for almost any style of music that calls for distortion.
Pretty cool box. The sound is Marshall-esque. It has a nice *chug* to the sound as well as a great sparkle on top so it covers the the broad spectrum. Very clear and articulate. I prefer it over the Damage Control gear in fact, it's got a tighter sound.
