Comments about Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion:
I bought this pedal after hearing it working by a review of Scott. I have a fulltone OCD, which is also an excelent pedal, but that robs a little beat off the bass . I put both pedals together to choose which one would be the best. Amazing!!! The SD9 has a range from a clean over drive to great distortion just in one knob (fulltone has a key to select between OD and distortion). It works without changing the guitar tone within the full range. I really got very surprised that a pedal could be such a responsive and versatile. The sound is something clean. It has an incredible sustain. The bass has a big punch. I have to agree with Scott when he says that this is the best distortion pedal in the world.

Comments about Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion:
I continue to be very impressed by Maxon. This is the second pedal I own from them and they have officially won me over from MXR. Maxon delivers something extra with their pedals that separates them from others. This pedal has the perfect amount of distortion and it is what have been looking for all along. My only quibble is that I am not a fan of the switching system. You really have to press hard and square to engage or disengage. But this is not enough to detract from the excellent sound.
Comments about Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion:
I own a maxon od9 and the ood9 which are excellent sounding overdrives, but sometimes I get in the mood for something a little heavier, thats where the sd9 comes in. It is, as some other review online said "A tubescreamer with more hair" It gives you just enough dirt before it gets too heavy. I sounds good with the distortion rolled back but not as smooth as the od9 although similer without the mid hump. It is not as useful for me as the overdrives, but it is fun to have for a change when the mood strikes you. An excellent distortion.
Comments about Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion:
I used this pedal for the first time with a Squire Tele (good guitar)through a Roland blues cube 30 (very good SS amp). It sounded really really good. If it sounded good with this rig, I can't wait to try it with a good tube amp and better guitar. So Worth the money. Buy it.
Comments about Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion:
Great pedal! I purchased a modified version of this pedal, for too much money, and I didn't like it. I found out one of my favorite players used to stock version so I ordered one and I love it. The stock pedal is very different than the modified one. All of the Maxon 9's a great the way they come. I've compared the sd9 and vop9 to a lot of boutique dirt boxes and I think, overall, they are the best!
Comments about Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion:
...not your usual metalcore distortion. Kind of out there, really, but preserves the guitar sound well.
