A low/medium overdrive with lots of gain and a subtle fuzz mode.

The MI Audio Blues Pro Overdrive Guitar Pedal's no-nonsense circuitry offers effects that are very 'immediate'. There are no internal trimmers, so that with the Blues Pro you get a very easy-to-use pedal, with the classic configuration of Gain, Tone and Volume. The MI Audio Blues Pro is a bit compressed, which gives the pedal a bit of extra punch. Blues Pro is an overdrive that also sounds throaty in high gain settings.

In the Fuzz mode the tone control becomes more of a 'sponge' control. With the tone all the way up, the Blues Pro pedal sounds like a louder version of the original. As you turn the Tone control down, the response time of the Blues Pro increases. This sounds particularly cool on chords. Turn the MI Audio Blues Pro Overdrive effect's Tone control all the way down, and the tone takes a second or two to settle.

    Features
    • Amazing 'plug-and-play' low/medium gain overdrive
    • 4 external control
    • Gain – from the lightest breakup to serious crunch, with more grit and attitude than the Blue Boy Deluxe
    • Tone – for taming the top end
    • Volume – plenty of volume for overdriving a tube amp
    • Toggle switch to unleash the subtle 'fuzz mode'
    • The classic JRC4558D IC.
    • Double the gain of a typical TS type of pedal.
    • Improved bass response for less bass loss, a typical problem with TS type pedals.
    • DC plug (boss style) for use with external power supply or internal 9V battery with up to 25V headroom available.
    • Asymmetrical clipping.
    • Professionally powder-coated and silk-screened enclosure, measuring only 4.3" x 2.2"
    • Heavy Duty 3PDT footswitch with true bypass

Get a great addition to your pedalboard tone palette!

Comments about MI Audio Blues Pro v.3 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I discovered the Blues Pro when I sat in at a jam a few months ago. The house guitarist had one hooked up to an old Fender Musicmaster bass amp and I was pleasantly surprised. As other reviewers have said, this pedal doesn't turn your notes to mush. I play pretty much strictly blues and old school R&B, and have never had much use for a pedal that destroys my vibrato. This pedal tracks my vibrato whether I'm using a rapid B.B. King style or a more legato vibrato approach. I have no use for the fuzz mode, but YMMV.
This pedal is a great addition to my Blues Jr. as it gives me more options than the "Fat" switch provided with the amp. The point of this pedal for my purposes is to run the amp clean and use it for a bit of boost on solos and slide, where it provides a buttery overdrive and adds a bit of shimmer and compression. I keep the gain set pretty low, at about 10 o'clock. By the time you get to 2 o'clock you are sustaining for days.
One caveat is that with any amp you want to keep the gain low when using this pedal. On my Vox DA-5 (solid state modeling) I found this to be the case even in their "clean" settings, or you with suffer the dreaded "smush" effect.
Only gripe: One of the screws was permanently tightened down at the factory. As I don't have a drill press I HAD to buy the Boss-style adapter, hence the 4 star rating. Other than that, I'm lovin' this thing.

      Great Alternative to a Tubescreamer

      By Echoman-AAYcL

      from Undisclosed

Comments about MI Audio Blues Pro v.3 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've owned tons of pedal in my 20+ years of playing. As far as TS style overdrives, I've owned and Turbo Tubescreamer TS9DX, a Green Rhino, and the Blues Pro. I rank the Blues Pro first, then the TS9DX, then the Green Rhino. I base this all on sound quality and features plus price consideration. My favorite overdrive is the EWS Fuzzy Drive which is nothing like a TS style overdrive but worth mentioning if you are looking into a hybrid fuzz/overdrive.
Similar to a tubescreamer but with more gain, cleans up with volume knob, more control over tone, true bypass which is crucial, and the addition of a fuzz switch. I owned a tubescreamer and sold it due to the fact that it wasn't true bypass and it's buffer thinned out my signal to the rest of my pedals. I also owned a Green Rhini which I felt sounded sterile and not as organic and tubey like. I also felt that the tubescreamer was limited in the tonal range and was always very dark and distant.
Very high quality components and it features the infamous tubescreamer chip. I love it!
I always think these pedals are overpriced but when looking at the value compared to the other boutique style pedals, this is a quality pedal.

      Mo' betta Blues

Comments about MI Audio Blues Pro v.3 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I got the Blues Pro stomp box from Guitar Center a couple of weeks ago. I couldn?t be more thrilled with this exceptional overdrive. I?m a Blues player of 35 years. As we are all aware, overdrive is essential to electric Blues. I have used a variety of overdrives and fuzz boxes down through the years and have never been completely satisfied with any one of them. I rarely use fuzz because I find most fuzz boxes too ?SPLATTY? for blues. I never liked distortion because most distortion units lack the note definition required for a good blues solo. I tend toward the more ?gritty? overdrives as a rule. I don?t like them too warm or ?creamy?; I want serious grind. I feel MI Audio hit the nail on the head with the Blues Pro. It gives you a heapin? helpin? of grit without losing note definition. The Blues Pro also doubles as a fuzz box with a flip of a switch. Not being too partial to Fuzz tones, I was very pleasantly surprised at just how good it sounded. It is definitely something I would use in certain applications. In my opinion, this is the Holy Grail of Blues overdrives. One thing I did noticed about the pedal is that it seems to be at its best in a valve driven amplifier. I used the blues pro through a very clean Carvin solid state ?x? amp. The overdrive sounded awesome, but the Fuzz mode sounded rather splatty. I plugged the Blues Pro into my Fender Hot Rod Deville 410 and any hint of that splatty sound you often get with Fuzz boxes vanished: it could not be reproduced at any setting. I got the same wonderful results plugging it into a Carvin VX 212 tube amp. No hint of ?splattiness?. This is truly a stomp box for the Blues Man. It?s a wonderfully gritty overdrive with great note definition and a Fuzz mode that is also gritty and well defined. This pedal would also work well for classic rock. I don?t think the Blues Pro will do much for the Hard Rock aficionados? and Metal mavens out there. This pedal is very much ?as advertised?; it?s for folks who like to channel SRV or Albert King. My best to all, JoeyGranada Hills, CA.

      Blues PRO!

Comments about MI Audio Blues Pro v.3 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

I first bought the more popular Crunch Box. Loved it, then decided to get the Blues Pro. I loved this pedal even more than the Crunch Box. I'm even thinking of selling the Crunch Box, since I want to replace distortion with fuzz. But I'm keeping the Blues Pro as my OD for a while.

      one in a thousand

Comments about MI Audio Blues Pro v.3 Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal:

OK, there are about a billion overdrives out there to choose from- I listened carefully to about 50 of them before choosing this one. Glad I did. I have a wonderful class A all tube amp, but it only has one channel which I use clean. This pedal turned on sounds exactly like my amp with the gain increased- maybe even better. Plus it has a "fuzz" mode which makes it like 2 pedals.Don't hate me, but I would advise this over a tubescreamer any day of the week. It sounds creamy, it's more versatile and costs less. And I use it on the "dirty" channel on my bass rig as well. The crunch box is great, too. I believe they were made to complement each other.
