OVERVIEW

A fuzz pedal for the 21st century!

The MI Audio GI Fuzz is a high-gain fuzz guitar effects pedal with a trio of ultra low noise, NPN high gain silicon transistors. The GI Fuzz is not a fuzz for the faint hearted. It has about 20db more gain than a Fuzz Face. This is a military spec fuzz pedal, complete with a military green aluminum enclosure and stencil script!

The GI Fuzz is one of the most versatile fuzz pedals out there. At last, the fuzz pedal has joined the 21st century! You get 6 knobs, an internal trimmer, a 3 position switch, and the ability to create anything from fat bluesy tones, to traditional fuzz, to all-out sustain, to gated, synth-like bleeps.

The other features of the GI Fuzz are:
•A huge gain range &mash; from nothing to sustain-for-days &mash; can be used as a low gain device (for a fat bluesy bite
•A load control, which is a variable input impedance, can be used to match the GI Fuzz to humbucking pickups, as well as single coils (Fuzz pedals tend to have low input impedance which is a better match for single coils. You can also use it to go from a tradition fuzz sound (low input impedance) to a more articulate sound with detailed highs (high impedance)
•A bias control sets up the operating point of the transistors, from a fat symmetrical fuzz, to an asymmetrical 'mosquito' buzz, and beyond, to a gated synth-like sound (almost sounds like your amp is about to die!)
•A body control, which is a full range mid range control. The mids, of course, are the most important frequencies for determining how your guitar tone sits in with the rest of the band.
•A tone control, that controls both lows and highs, as opposed to simply a high cut filter. This is like bass and treble controls rolled into one. The combination of the tone and the body controls is like having a low/mid/high EQ
•A volume control with output to spare. You can use the GI fuzz to overdrive your amp.
•The 3-position bright switch to help tame the top end, is useful if you're going to use your GI Fuzz with a bright 'modern' voiced clean channel, or if you're going to use the GI with overdrive pedals (which tend to be darker, and by comparison, make a normal fuzz sound shrill)

The MI Audio GI Fuzz is exactly what I wanted and more! I really can't believe that just by turning those four little nobs and switch, that I could get so many different tones. I can go from a fat-chunky blues tone. or to an all out stoner metal tone with lots of gain (fuzz)...... first thing I did when I got it, thanks alot to the quick and free three-day UPS shiping service. that came right to my door. I hooked it up to my VOX Valvetronics AD15VT amp, with PlanetWaves cables going thru my Schecter C-1Plus with Duncan Designed HB-102 humbuckers. then I adjusted the internal Gain Trimer. I managed to crank it all the way before twisting it too hard and causeing it to break. so for those who get this pedal and do what I did. dont sweat it because I still managed to play thru it and still got some amazing amounts of fuzz and volume out of it. the GI fuzz though is still an awesome pedal and I can get anything from blues, 60's garage, to psychedelic rock to blues rock and stoner rock/metal..... overall, being able to adjust the amount of treble and bass with the Tone nob really helped with those deep stoner rock tones. adjusting the Body nob which is the Midrange really helps with your level of presence. turning it the far right got really bright and punchy and turning it the left got really dark and muddy. so after puting the Tone nob at about 10:30 and the Body nob at 2:30 I left the three position Togle switch in the center position. then I adjusted the Bias nob which is the Voltage and I put that at 2:00. and since I was gonna be using humbuckers I turned the Load nob to about 3:00. and after that I just left the volume and fuzz at about 2:30..... not only did I overdrive my amp but the beautiful layer of fuzz caked over a fat lowend drum machine blasting a bitchen rockin beat, really got me into the christmas spirit. or could that have been that nice christmas bowl of frankincence that I smoked? either way you can't go wrong with the MI Audio GI Fuzz! buy it, plug it in, and rock out!
