Comments about Modtone High Gainer Super Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

great pedal. One of the best pedals I have. All pedals are subjective to personal speculation. To me it appeals to my 80's rock vibe. Not really a mild distortion. As all pedals try to drive before you buy and check youtube reviews.

Comments about Modtone High Gainer Super Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I like the pedal a lot. I bought it for my marshall class 5. It works out great. I love the tone of the marshall amp but even at 5 watts it is very loud. Since it has no gain, the only way to get an over driven sound is to max it out which will make your ears melt. At lower volumes - Tried a marshall guvenor which was ok. Tried a tube screamer which was good for a crunchy tone. Tried a vox saturatator for high gain but didn't like it.

The high gainer pedal has enough gain to take you nicely from clean to hi gain. Certainly you can cover purple, Zep, sabbath, Aerosmith, GNR, 80s hair metal, etc. Great sustain and tone. sturdy.

This is a nice addition if you want a high gain tone and looking to capture the metal godfathers like Deep Purple and Black Sabbath and it can take you though the 80s hair bands like Ratt, Van Halen, Poison, Night Ranger, etc. Bottom line, it works as advertised. Works great with my Marshall Class 5 delivering great plexi style tones with high gain and sustain.

Comments about Modtone High Gainer Super Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal had an old, severly leaking battery in it. Made a mess. Like it was sitting around for a very long time. After I cleaned it up, and installed a new battery, seems to work ok. We'll see. I sent a statement and pictures to MF. Waiting for some kind of reply.

Comments about Modtone High Gainer Super Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal reminds me of my Boss DS-1. Bear in mind that i absolutley HATE that pedal. However I paid only about half of what this costs. This does have a little more gain on tap than the DS-1 pedal... however not enough in my opinion to be called a "HIGH GAINER". NOT FOR METAL.... if you play metal i would suggest the digitech metal master... I have had that pedal for 4 years now and absolutley LOVE the sounds i get from it... Just NOT the sounds i get from this. :(

Comments about Modtone High Gainer Super Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I bought this hoping to add a mid to high gain pedal to my board. Most pedals advertise being high gain but in my opinion, fall short. This pedal with the gain knob all the way off can give you some mid gain options but if you turn the gain up one notch is dramtically jumps up the distortion. The tone of the pedal seems to shift a bit as well dialing in the mid gain settings. The low and high controls work well and give you all the range you can ask for from very deep bass to piercing highs if that's your desire. This pedal would be perfect for me if it just had more range with the gain knob. The pedal is quiet when in use and seems to be transparent, not coloring the sounds of the amp. I have a few Mod Tone pedals and so far they seem reliable, well built, and priced right.

Comments about Modtone High Gainer Super Distortion Guitar Effects Pedal:

I started using this pedal after my digitech RP-70 broke and I needed a distortion pedal. It worked. This thing puts out a sick amount of gain for a budget, and is neigh indestructible. The two tone knobs let you dial in the sound you want, and the gain knob gives you just enough punch to burn your eyebrows off. The only problems I have with this pedal is it's a little too easy to kick the tone knobs and change them, but after I turned it on it's side I got rid of that. That, and it's pretty much just for metal. It does one thing and one thing only: gain. It's just as good as a Boss metal zone, and that's not an understatement.
