OVERVIEW

A boutique-style overdrive pedal that provides classic warm overdrive without compromise or noise.

The ModTone MT-OD Dyno Drive is a split bypass boutique-style overdrive pedal that provides classic warm overdrive without compromise or noise and is housed in a compact sealed corrosion-resistant metal chassis that's built to last.

When placed in front of a clean amp, the ModTone MT-OD gives just a hint of overdrive making all your blues licks and chicken pickin' riffs jump out. Put it in front of your main overdrive tone and you've got a smooth lead tone that sustains for days. A simple 3-knob configuration begins with the "Tone" control that goes from rich, understated overdrive to aggressive sparkle with just a twist of the knob. Next up is the "Drive" control that allows you to add just a touch of grit or go all the way up for some serious saturation without ever being brittle. Lastly, the "Level" option gives you access to the amount of gain you want added to your main signal.

The MT-OD Dyno Drive overdrive pedal, like the whole family of ModTone pedals, features period-correct vintage-style components, smooth linear taper pots, high-impact switches built for the floor and top-quality jacks for optimum tonal transfer.

FEATURES
  • Subtle and smooth overdrive
  • Emulates a touch of amp gain
  • Excellent lead boost
  • Light-to-medium gain level
  • All true-bypass

This pedal has a solid build, a little bit of bite, and a transparency that almost makes it feel like you are playing two guitars, one more compressed and overdriven than the other. It's better than most digital effects, and was picked up for a great price. I would recommend it to the new student of guitar.

Really Good Pedal

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

This is a clean overdrive pedal. It's made to be the one you go to on the strong ballads or those country love stories. It has a very "telecaster" overdrive sound in that it's a little twangy. Although, it sounds very tubey as well (especially if you have a tube amp). All in all, solid pedal and one you will use a lot especially for your slow song needs.

Good for Overdriving Amps

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

I really like the pedal for overdriving tube amps. I have a Marshall VM and it does a great job on leads. I also have a Fender The Twin and it makes the distortion a lot more modern- Mesa-ish sounding. It definitely helps any amp go from crunch to lead tone. The pedal also works well for a more vintage tone on the clean channel. I prefer it to my Ibanez TS9 for pretty much everything. However, the first one I bought arrived broken. I sent it back for a second and it worked for 4 or 5 months and then broke. I sent it back to the company and they fixed it for free but charged me for return shipping. Great pedal but I wonder if it will keep kicking after the warranty is up.

A great little OD

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

I've purchased a few of these modtone pedals...the demos on their website sold me; the fact that they're true-bypass sold me; they're built well - all metal chasis - that sold me. This OD works very well. Not great for "metal" or "hard rock" songs, but great when you need to dirty up your sound.

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

I have owned or do own overdrive pedals from low cost clones to some of the more popular expensive models. I found the Mod Tone MT-OD Dyno Drive to be an excellent pedal that would meet the performance expectations of most Rockers and Heavy Metalists!! Buy it, you really can't beat it for the price!!

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

I use this for two purposes boosting and overdrive for a low-watt, single channel amp. Helps deliver a little more versatility and (in effect) something like a second channel. The controls are rather sensitive, and you can get some pretty unpleasant and harsh tones if you're not careful. However, if you take some time, you can develop some useful overdrive and (volume) boost tones.

Sweet little addition to my existing set. Had a honking big 'one board has all' pedal set and when it went I went back to individuals. Don't think I'll get the big-one again as I love doing it this way. Glad I added this guy as he made 'em sit up and listen when I kicked him into gear for the first time on stage. Nice!

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

This is a decent pedal for the money. Please understand that this is not a Tube Screamer nor a Blues Driver. It does however give you over drive and is pretty decent at doing it. If you want that Tube Screamer or Blues Driver sound, then save your money up and buy one of them. If you're on a budget then buy this one, it's worth the money and gets the job done. I got mine when it was the "Stupid Deal of the Day" for a fraction of what it costs normally. All is all it's a decent little pedal.

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

If one didn't have to remove four screws to get to the battery, I'd say this is a pretty good deal: it's solid and it makes all the noise one might want to make, but, come on, add a little plastic battery compartment circa state of art 1985.

I really wanted to like this pedal. But the tone shaping interfered with the sound of my guitar and amp. My Les Paul and Vox tube combo sounded tinny and cheap going through the Mod Tone, like all the low and mid frequencies were cancelled. The pedal isn't cheap, either. I hated it and sent it back. I won't ever try another Mod Tone product. I'm done with them

Comments about Modtone MT-OD Dyno Drive Overdrive Pedal:

I purchased this pedal to boost my 1985 JCM 800 4210 a little over the edge for solos, heavier songs, etc. I set it up so it would boost my signal without adding a lot of unwanted distortion (Tone 0, Level 100%, Gain 75%) and it sounds great.

Just for fun I switched over to my clean channel and tried out the boost and it sounds like an old Marshall Plexi with a low gain setting.

                    Very happy with this purchase.
