I bought the MT-PT1 strictly from recommendations of other customers. I switch back and forth from keyboards to the guitar depending on the song, and my guitar warms-up and cools-down several times while going through the set.
When I hit the button to tune, the read-out is large, highly visible, and I like it. Don't spend twice as much for something that does the same function. It works, and it does not suck your sound. The bypass works.
Besides, now when the lead guitarist plays on a different pitch, it is on him.

The Mod Tone MP-PT1 tuner is a bit hard to use due to the fact that the PITCH & FLAT buttons are very close to the on/off switch. If you are playing live in a dimly lit room & accidently hit one of these buttons, it will cause you problems if trying to fine tune live. The Plastic top is easily scratched & broken. I have learned thru experience Mod Tone DOES NOT have a customer service line, despite their advertised "5 year warranty". Exchanging emails with them is very time consuming (Days became weeks)..& yielded me negative (NONE) results...The battery compartment is VERY hard to access. This unit (& another 4 Mod Tone pedals) arrived with dead batteries...After a few weeks of use this unit has become a bit noisy...not like a "complete by-pass should be..." as advertised...Given my experience with their pedals & customer service I WOULD NOT recommend any Mod Tone products.

Comments about Modtone MT-PT1 Professional Chromatic Tuner Pedal:

There's a full half to one second lag on the response of this tuner, which makes tuning feel like slamming your head on a rock. TERRIBLE, I deemed it unusable and had to send it back. You might as well just tune by ear. For much less dinero, a Snark clip-on headstock tuner is a MUCH better buy, AND a better tuner. I've never been so disappointed in a tuner. The footswitch feels cheap as well, which makes me question the overall build quality. Avoid.

Comments about Modtone MT-PT1 Professional Chromatic Tuner Pedal:

When playing through my marshall JCM 800 turned up any past 3, an extremely noticeable and annoying buzz/hum noise every time I pluck a string to tune. Super annoying and in my case rendered the pedal unusable. Display is great, and tunes pretty well, but the noisiness of the pedal took it off my board almost immediately.

Comments about Modtone MT-PT1 Professional Chromatic Tuner Pedal:

I recently picked one of these up when I had to replace some equipment with short notice for a weekend of gigs. It's the first Modtone pedal I've purchased.

I should mention that I don't currently have any use for the detuning features -- I just needed something for quick, standard-tuning checks while onstage.

The pedal is rugged and responsive; the tuning accuracy is great -- and it's probably the easiest-to-read tuner I've ever used, in any lighting situation.

In my experience, there has been no noise at all when activating the pedal using the signal-mute output.

I perform professionally only irregularly, but I'd be proud to show up to the studio with this in hand.

What more can you ask for at this price?

This unit has a Big Bright display that you can easly read while standing. It locks in quickly even on my 5 string bass (B-G). Anyone looking for a tuner to add to their peddle board would do well to add this to the collection.

Comments about Modtone MT-PT1 Professional Chromatic Tuner Pedal:

I own at least 6 different tuners.I have them in various guitar cases, mounted to racks etc., and even a full rack tuner in a larger rig (that I don't use much).I got this tuner on a "Stupid Deal" while I was buying other items and threw it on an order I was placing because it was a great price. What a pleasant surprise. The read out is bright and very easy to see on a dark stage. It seems very accurate. Best of all it is a no nonsense tuner. It doesn't put out tones or have a mic to tune acoustics guitars or any other little add ons. It is a basic electric guitar tuner with a large bright display. The case is metal and seems very sturdy. A great addition to any pedal board.

Comments about Modtone MT-PT1 Professional Chromatic Tuner Pedal:

I had been looking for a responsive tuner to add to my home pedalboard that I could take to jam sessions and tune silently. This seems to be a perfect fit and did not break the bank. It is limited in features but its a tuner...it tunes...and that's what I wanted. It does not have a poly chromatic feature but again, that was not what I wanted. It is small, the LED is really easy to see, and it has a bypass and a silent tuning input. Works great for me. It seems study and well constructed but I am not a pro and I do not gig. When I do go to play with people I generally take care to protect my gear. As a result, I am not sure of how rugged this would be for a pro. Maybe better for studio work than for stage use. But it fits my needs perfectly and for a fraction of the cost of high-end pedals.

Saw this tuner on the Stupid Deal of the Day, and decided to pull the trigger on the deal. I'm glad I did, because this is a great tuner. It's easy to read, and my guitars sound great when I'm done tuning, so it does its job well. You don't have to pay a higher price to get a good tuner.

Compact and durable, this tuner has the size of display that I have grown to appreciate. The large display (just over an inch for the note letter and 1-3/8" with the +/- indicator) is visible in sunlight and makes tuning a breeze. It will mute and should provide years of reliable service.
