I play rhythm guitar with a variety band. My pedal board has a number of pedals but they are used for specific situations. I tend to keep the tone of my usual stage set-up (60's Fender Deluxe/'73 Strat) minimally affected. I used another compression unit for years but was never satisfied. The reviews and great MF price got me to give the Mooer a try.
This pedal does just what it says. You can dial up that right amount of compression without compromising tone. It was, by far, less noisy than my old compressor. The Mooer is built well and takes up very little room on your board. The small volume and EQ knobs take some getting use to, but once you dial it in, very few adjustment are needed.

i own this..i like most compressors, for different reasons...this one doesnt do much for me, it has a very limited amount of squash. the eq knob works ok but is darn hard to turn if the pedal is on a pedal board. i guess this pedal does add a high end kind of shimmer to the sound , maybe it is just me , but find more use with a Boss cs-3. this Yellow Comp is supposed to be a clone of the expensive Diamond pedal. well, that pedal really is way overpriced if it just does what this pedal does. this pedal seems more like a fancy treble booster than a compressor. it is rather quiet on the noise level..maybe it works best when you are playing at higher volumes, i play mostly low volume . i will say that for it. it is not a rip-off by any means and it is cheap to buy but i will trade mine or give it away probably.

Comments about Mooer Yellow Comp Optical Compressor Guitar Effects Pedal:

Plugged this pedal into my Peavy JSX and immediately noticed a difference. I play rhythm guitar in the band and I always hated the way higher note chords sounded on my amp. Hitting a standard D chord just pierced your ears and my knobs weren't all that high. I plugged this baby in and that all changed. I have all my settings at noon, as you do with new pedals, and it was perfect. Blended my sound really nicely. My ONLY complaint would be that it did not come with a power chord. I was under the impression I could pop a 9v battery in this and be fine but that's not the case. It needs a power chord to run. I feel like, if it needs a power chord to run, it should be included. That' just me. All in all, great little pedal.

Comments about Mooer Yellow Comp Optical Compressor Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've owned several compressors and all of them were good in their own right. But this thing just sweetens and sustains your tone great. I could be happy with just this and an amp. Works great with my Tele or my Gretsch. This thing is worth a try.

Great addition to my board...can't believe I never owned a compression pedal....
Long sustain for leads and also has a good sound for country picking.
Mooer is making some good mini clone pedals but be aware that the switches do POP loudly.

Comments about Mooer Yellow Comp Optical Compressor Guitar Effects Pedal:

I play in local cover bands and we cover a lot of territory. This thing is my secret weapon. It does everything a comp should do. It fattens things up. It drives the amp. It gives you clarity and pushes you up in the mix with out adding too much gain (unless you want it to). The cleans are fat and sustaining with plenty of clarity. I'm a leggato player and this helps push my playing over the top of the mix. The notes bloom and sustain. This thing is perfect. I love it!

I have used this pedal for approx. one year now and have found it to be a well built, reliable accessory. You can dial in as much compression as you want and also adjust the volume output and tone. Be advised it does not come with a power supply.

Comments about Mooer Yellow Comp Optical Compressor Guitar Effects Pedal:

This compression effect is remarkably clear and subtle. It also has an impressive amount of boost and a well thought-out tone knob. The key to enjoying this effect is understanding what is does and doesn't do. It works well as an "always on" piece and adds a sweetness to my AC30's tone. But even with the compression turned all the way up it is still hardly noticeable (to be fair, I generally run my amp clean tone on the edge of break up and I already have some nice conpression). Essentially this is a "secret sauce" type of effect.

However, if your interested in a more agressive, compression-as-effect (e.g. Country) sound, you'd be better served with another choice (Digitech makes a similar, but more intense, optical compressor, the DOD 280 Comp). As such, I may move mine to the effects loop and use it as a boost due to its volume/tone knobs and sparkly, transparent character. (Either way it's absolutely a keeper.

Comments about Mooer Yellow Comp Optical Compressor Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've been searching for a pedal that will boost my tube amp slightly during solos. I didn't want additional distortion, so I was told to try a compressor pedal.

This works great! I have the volume and eq set to noon and comp set around 2 oclock. When I hit the pedal it boosts the volume up great without much coloring to the sound. Affordable and true bypass, can't go wrong.

This might not compare to a $300+ boutique pedal... but it certainly equals or betters anything selling for 3x the price a decade ago. Built like a tank, tiny footprint, sounds great. What more could anyone ask?

This is an incredibly well built and quality pedal. Maintains pure signal integrity and is very transparent. I love that it has a tone knob as well to help me brighten up one particular amp that is slightly dark sounding. Perfect! I'm very impressed with Moore products.
