OVERVIEW

Analog delay by a company that remembers analog.

A lot of pedals are designed in a lab and tweaked on an oscilloscope. Moog pedals are built by musicians, for musicians. The designers are obsessed with great sound and practical usability. They are among the finest floor-based signal processors on the market. The Minifooger Analog Delay is a stellar example of this utter dedication to musicality.

The MF Delay is a 100% analog delay providing 35mS-700mS of rich, blooming analog repeats. At shorter settings, the MF Delay is fast and articulate. This is perfect for creating classic slap-back sounds with expressive swells, and even plate-verbs. At medium and long settings, the repeats become darker, naturally trailing into a beautiful warmth and character not found in any other delay pedal. Connect an expression pedal and dynamically control feedback swells, or switch to delay time to create chorus/flange and tape delay effects. The MF Delay was designed with over 300 carefully selected components including 4 Bucket Brigade Delay chips, a discrete JFET input stage, and a vintage compander circuit for superior tone and feel.

CONTROLS
TIME- Adjustable from 35mS - 700mS. At shorter settings, delay repeats are brighter and more articulate - perfect for slap-back and plate-style reverb/delay. As you increase the Time, the delay trails become warmer causing sounds to move and decay naturally under each new note or chord.

FEEDBACK- Adjustable from a single repeat with no decay, to extended trails that dissipate into a reverb-like state. When pushed past 2 o’clock feedback trails swell into infinity. This is an excellent creative tool for making sonic beds and trails where notes decay into a wash of musical noise. Pushed to maximum, the MF Delay will self oscillate.

MIX-Allows you to determine the blend between dry and effected signals. At minimum, delay trails are nearly inaudible. This is useful for ghost delays and creating natural room-verb sounds. At maximum, your dry signal is removed completely, which allows the MF Delay to work perfectly in an amplifier effects loop.

DRIVE- A pre-delay circuit that provides greater than 22dB of gain to both input and delayed signal. At low ranges it is excellent for creating subtle boost and mild tonal coloration. At middle position the sound becomes more mid-forward and punchy. At itsmaximum position, you have an incredibly natural boost/overdrive in your delay pedal that is great by itself or paired with an MF Drive.

EXPRESSION PEDAL INPUT: When assigned to Time, this input allows you to create everything from chorus/flange effects and tape delay to monstrous pitch shifting. When assigned to Feedback, this input allows you to swell in and out of infinite feedback loops and subtle delay trails.

    Different flavor of analog delay

Comments about Moog Minifooger Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

The little brother of the moogerfooger series, this pedal is by appearances a pretty standard analog delay with a couple of twists. No modulation; instead of that we get the "drive" control which adds grit and boosts output. We also get the expression pedal input. Expression pedal can be routed either to delay time (for the famous analog delay pitch effects when feedback and mix are set high) or to feedback, which is more routinely useful.

Build quality and overall sound quaslity are excellent, top notch. Sonically, this delay tends toward the bright compared to, say, the MXR Carbon Copy. The repeats on the minofooger are disinct and clear, ALMOST evoking the quality of digital delays, as opposed to the dark decay of the CC and other famous analog delays. I am inclined to think that this distinctness is intentional and product of high grade components.

One qualm: I wish wish wish they had found the way to make the Exp. pedal destination switch external not internal.

Comments about Moog Minifooger Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Been searching through a lot of analog delays for a few years trying to find that one particular delay style and tone I've had in my head. I've tried a couple of inexpensive pedals. And I've built a couple of my own. But nothing really has hit that sweet spot, and I find myself going back to a digital delay time and time again. Even the Carbon Copy didnt do the trick for me. Well, that search is over. This is the Moog Minifooger Analog Delay. Full analog bucket brigade circuitry. The tones are glorious. Sweet and warm. Thick and delicious if you want it. Very transparent if you dial it down. There is a gain knob on this pedal that imparts that old school vintage tube vibe, and pushes your amp a little bit. I adds that little something extra that pushes this pedal over the top in the tone department. I was enamored by the demo videos. I am blown away by the pedal running in my practice rig. Awesomeness.

Comments about Moog Minifooger Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

Got this delay recently and really like it. Nice moog sounds, some fun options, and compact enclosure... Does not have a tap option for tempo, so not ideal for rhythmic delays (worship or U2 cover bands).

Comments about Moog Minifooger Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

The coolest things about this pedal are the overdrive, which is HOT, and the fact that the roll off from delay repeats tends to morph, rolling the high end off to mimick a real echo. Haven't experienced that before in a pedal.

The thing that I don't care for, is the "Mix" knob. I pretty much have it barely open to sit behind my dry sound. Anything louder than a 9 o'clock setting overwhelms the dry signal, at least to my ears.

I did buy the expression pedal along with this and that has opened up some additional opportunities with the pedal, should a person be coordinated enough and have the time to dedicate to practicing with it. Very cool things can happen though!

Comments about Moog Minifooger Analog Delay Guitar Effects Pedal:

This replaced a very good digital delay, I needed the leads to be pushed forward during performance/rehearsals. The drive knob allows you to add just enough (or a lot) of extra gain to the signal so the leads cut through the mix.
The mix knob allows you blend the delayed effect with the 'dry' signal.
It does alter the tone slightly but in a complimentary way.
The hardwire/true bypass means no signal or tone degredation when it's not on.
                Very sturdy construction.

This is everything I wanted in a delay pedal.

Best Analog effects comes from Moog especially the Delays. Best Analog delay that i've tried (except Moog 104m but i can't afford that). Best build quality and analog sound u'll find in the market and affordable too.
I wish i could use expression out as a tap tempo (like dd7) which could be useful on stage.
