Pristine volume control with no pots to wear out!

The EOV Optical Volume pedal from Morley uses an electro-optical circuit instead of traditional pots, which can become scratchy or wear out over time. The EOV's smooth optical taper is great for volume control or for creating lush, violin-like swells. Built to last with a cold-rolled steel housing, easy-access battery compartment, and LED on/off indicator. Uses 9V battery or Morley 9V regulated adapter (sold separately).

We have not had the pedal long enough to test thoroughly, but were disappointed that the pad was only half glued on. Small but glaring error--is there no quality control review?

Comments about Morley EOV Optical Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

After playing around with this one, I have mixed feelings about it. It's good to have optical instead of a pot to eliminate crackling noise as it gets dirty, but the sweep taper seems way too steep. It feels sturdy and solid. For those that like a steep drop off, or jump up, in sound... you will be very happy with this pedal. I wish there was a better way to adjust the taper to be more gradual. Looking at the website instructions, and trying to bend the sensors as directed, seems to be a futile effort. Nothing I tried made much of a difference. I even put black tape in various positions on the flag to taper the light opening, but you have to balance your adjustments between the "on" sensor, and the "off" sensor. Two completely separate sensors that counter-balance each other. It's much more difficult than it should be. Actually, the truth is that there is NO taper adjustment in the design. The instructions are for those that want to pry, bend, and rig it to their liking at the risk of breaking something. I would prefer a trim pot with marked positions that the user can adjust consistently. I finally gave up and put everything back the way it was originally. This was going to be my primary pedal but now I'm just keeping it as a backup. As much as I hate the string and spring of the EBVP jr., it does have a more gradual sweep and works better for swells.

Comments about Morley EOV Optical Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

Pedal is built like a tank, solidly constructed. Keep it mind this pedal has audio taper, not linear
taper. I prefer linear taper like old school pot style volume pedal. Company website suggests bending LED's and light receptors to get a more linear feel. I actually taped slotted "fin" on pedal for a more gradual light exposure. Overall seemed to work ok.

Comments about Morley EOV Optical Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

Other reviews I have read have bashed this pedal for its short throw and "sudden" taper. Go to Morley's website and read about adjusting the volume sweep. You can open the pedal up and adjust the LEDs to get the exact kind of swell you're looking for if you don't like the factory settings. I bought mine used for 50 bucks, opened it up, and spent just 30 minutes making adjustments. Now I've got a sweep that is perfect for my taste. Low price and built like a tank.

          Now that's a short throw

Comments about Morley EOV Optical Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've tried this volume pedal with different guitars and amps with no real success controlling the volume taper with a slow swell. It opens up halfway through the throw, and is at maximum volume about 5 degrees after that.. It doesn't even function well as a mute switch as the pedal lost it's rigidity after a month of use and now falls into the on position. It is a silent pedal and probably will be for a long time with it's optical sensors, and the fact that it's sitting on my closet shelf.
