I was moved to write this review after reading previous reviews with questions about this pedal. It is yet another of Morley's fine military grade armored effects pedals and is definitely one to have in your arsenal.

I bought the pedal and like a previous reviewer, found the pedal somewhat stiff. Looking at the design it appeared that one could loosen slightly the screws holding the pedal to the base and then it would move more freely.

I was worried about the durability of the monofilament tending lines which turn the internal volume pot, like another reviewer of this item.

In the past I have corresponded with Morley tech. Scott Flescher and he is The Authority. [You can find his signature as the approving technician on the spec sheet for the Bad Horsie and many other Morley products. He's "the man".]

I queried him and was advised that loosening the pedal enough to ease the "sweep" will not place undue stress on the monofilament lines. The "travel" isn't much on the pedal so you can't really stress the lines. The base of the pedal acts as a barricade going both up and down so you're not moving the lines all that far.

Now, having said that, this is an awesome pedal. Church mouse quiet with a great taper. The pedal is compact but easy to find with your foot on stage. The textured step is nice too, better than earlier Morley surfaces. That it needs no power is the icing on the cake. And of course it is built like a 1970 Chevy Impala (think: Tiger tank.)

I've had the pedal for a few months now and it has performed great in my home studio. Paired up with an old DOD FX96 delay pedal, you can do some incredible Steve Howe/David Gilmour quick fade ins. (It sounds even better if you run it through one of those new Vox AC10's.)

I have several Morley pedals and all have performed great with no issues. Plus, they are made in the USA. Ya' can't beat 'em so you might as well buy 'em. And for the price - no better built pedal out there.

I needed a no-frills volume pedal that was clean & quiet and functioned largely as just an on/off switch. The reviews that have said this is quiet with a nice sweep and no coloration seem true, but right out of the box this pedal would not stay put. With the heel down to the max, all sound would cease, but as soon as I lifted my foot the 'toe end' would drop about 1/4" allowing some sound through. I felt I didn't want to (and shouldn't have to) try to get inside the unit to make adjustments to correct what is probably a design flaw, so I have returned this with the help of a very friendly MF agent, and am now going to try the Morley Mini volume pedal.

Comments about Morley M2 Passive Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

Right out of the box this pedal would not stay in the "off" position but would "drop" to on. It also has little threshold as it basically goes from off to on at the point of being fully depressed. Would have sent it back but the shipping was not worth it compared to cost of the pedal.

Comments about Morley M2 Passive Volume Guitar Effects Pedal:

I use this pedal with lap steel guitars primarily but works well in all situations, Has a nice footprint so it's easy to feel it underneath my foot! Came with a stiff action which I'm sure will loosen up some with use.I think for the money it's a great pedal that does what it is supposed to do. When it's off (in the heel down position) it's off and when it's in the toe down position it's on and has a nice smooth transaction between up and down, seems very responsive. I like it and it suits my needs very well and I recommend it.

Tough Cold Rolled Steal.........I just like the sound of that. Super strong and durable. The pedal allows you to do swells. Like all pedals you just have to work it and find the sweet spot. Got a good deal on it on Musicians Friend and does everything that I would need one of the 100 to 150 buck glorified volume pedals to do................and that's just control my volume! Work it baby!

We are actually using this a a volume pedal for a keyboard. Works great --- no noise at all.

Goes from "off" to full volume very smoothly.

This was a Christmas gift for my brother who had simply told me he needed a volume pedal. I have bought him things from Musicians' Friend before, so went directly there. Read reviews of this one, they were really good, so I selected this one. My brother raved when he opened it - HE LOVED my choice! He has played guitar for over 30 years - has a little practice studio, a band and plays some local gigs.

Well the price is right and it does not need a battery. Standing up works well. Sitting down a little harder to get the sweet spot. I was hoping for a little less resistance on the pedal to find the correct level. Oh well.
