OVERVIEW

Give your guitar instant polyphonic drop tuning.

With the Morpheus Droptune guitar effect pedal, you can easily go from one pitch for a particular song to a different pitch on the next without having to retune your guitar or needing multiple guitars for various step-down de-tunings.

For example, play an E chord in standard tuning, then use this unique pedal to drop tune your guitar so the chord is changed to an Eb, D, Db, C, B, Bb, or A.

This lets guitarists get that heavy drop-tuned tone at different pitches without dealing with floppy string buzz, extra-heavy-gauge strings or carrying around expensive extra guitars. The same goes for foam-deadened acoustic guitars or electric violins.

If your singer has a bad throat night, you can drop-tune your guitar to accommodate him without having to change neck position or retune.

The Morpheus DropTune guitar pedal also features effect-toggling so you can instantly toggle back and forth between the dropped pitch and the EFFECT OFF for a cool up/down pitch-shift effect during solos or power chord rhythm patterns. Additionally, the DropTune pedal has Full Octave Drop and a great-sounding Octaver.

Don't mistake this for a mere pitch-shifting stompbox—the DropTune uses proprietary polyphonic pitch-drop algorithms that maintain perfect harmonic accuracy and tonally correct overtones. The DropTune was developed by a team of guitar effects pros with over 50 years of experience at other companies where they created some of today's most famous pedals.

With a cast-metal chassis; solid, positive-feeling steel switches; and non-skid rubber feet, the DropTune is solidly built for years of use and abuse. LED indicators are bright and easy to see.

See above for why this is a 9 instead of a 10. Totally worth buying.
Does what it claims, period. No harmonics lost, no delay.
Only a 7 because it's a little awkward to go from lower to higher. i.e. to go from a whole step drop to just a half step you gotta go "all the way around the horn" and hit the same button 7 times. Maybe there's a shortcut here, but I haven't found it. This is THE ONLY drawback I can find.
Totally opens up the set list and makes eliminates re-tuning or using multiple guitars. My only regret is that I didn't buy it when I first saw it for less. Still a value at this price, tho. Again, it 100% does what it claims to do, and in my 25 years experience, that's pretty rare.

I was seeking a pedal like this to do dropped tunning ranging from tunes from Sabbath to modern rock bands in B standard. This pedal offers everything that would make you think you can do that but the thing is it sounds bad. I could hear my standard tuned guitar and dropped sound simultaneously which bothered the hell out of me. I don't know if it was a defective unit but I didn't like the pedal at all. I know that Morpheus also makes the Capo and Divebomber. I however saw a month later after returning the Droptune, the Whammy DT. The DT can drop tune up to one octave, however combined with the Whammy portion of the pedal you can effectivly drop your guitar 3 octaves (although who would want to) plus you have capo features of raising your guitars pitch plus the whammy effects. It's a much better pedal and for slightly more you get many more features.

    Disappointing

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

Avoid this product unless you don't mind the noise or digital artifacts. I returned mine.
I was hoping this pedal would solve the need for having multiple guitars with different tunings, but it did not work as advertised. It's noisy (hiss), it digitizes your sound, and there are digital artifacts that get more noticeable the lower you drop the tuning. I suppose if you were playing live and everything was extremely loud, it wouldn't be as noticeable but I intended to use this for recording. It's a shame really, since the idea is great. I believe in time it will be possible to drop tuning successfully with such a pedal, but we are not there yet.
It seems to be physically built well, but the noise and poor sound quality make it only a 5 in my book. There is also disclaimer on the back of the unit also claims that the technology inside is from Area 51 (I'm not kidding). If that's the case, we finally have proof that no aliens ever really had any involvement there after all since this thing sounds like crap.
Should sound better for the price being charged.

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is great for guitar, but it sounds a little synthetic but isnt too noticable. *WARNING* THIS DOES NOT WORK ON BASS. Even when I just go a half step down it almost totally cuts out and you get a little murmur. But this pedal IS AWESOME for guitar.

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

When I first saw the add for this pedal I was very surprised, and thought if this product works they would sell boatloads of them. This product in my opinion has the potential to be revolutionary as the concept is outstanding. Unfortunately, this product will affect your tone negatively. You can almost sense the digital process taking place as if needs a faster processing chip. There is a very slight delay that only gets more noticeable with each subsequent drop in pitch. Its manageable up to one full step down, but beyond that your tone becomes noticeably altered and unnatural sounding.I think Morpheus brought this product to market just a bit to soon. Needs further development..

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Morpheus Company claim that this product works with electric and acoustic-electric guitars. But only works well with electric. No videos posted in the web with acoustic-electric and now a know why. I returned the pedal to musiciansfriend and ask for a credit to buy another product. As always musiciansfriends has the best costumer service.

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

I have this on my pedal board and it is not going anywhere. I have had singers decide at the last minute to drop the key into Ab or Eb and rather than stressing I just say OK, and its done.I think it does very well on 1/2 to 2-1/2 steps down. Anything below that starts that phasing sound and depending how you have your amp settings are you may find it to be annoying. The Octive = unity, setting I use often also and it sounds great too.I put 4 instead of 5 for the Quality because even though it is supposedly a "true bypass" pedal it is not. I definitely drains a little tone even when not on (mostly the highs). I build an effects bypass pedal to remedy this, but I'm very protective of my tone, others may not seem to really care.

    This changes enerything

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal changes everything. You can now have the action of standard tuning with the heavy sounds of drop tuning. I love it. I'm always using harmonics and they ring loud and clear. The only thing I will say is that I notice i have to tap harder when I'm fret tapping. For those who say it robs tone: Not true. There is a slight notice, but when you put it in a live situation as I have, you won't notice. In fact i am surprised at how little tone it takes. I'm picky, and I barely notice it. Also, you guys do know that drop tuning with or without this pedal means you have to redo you're amp settings right? If you eq you're amp at standard tuning it will need it again if you drop down. For those who say there is lag time: I do not see this at all. I've played several Van Halen songs with this pedal dropped down 1/2 step and do not see this. I've also played several Sabbath songs to track and there is no lag time. For those who say it doesn't pick up all the harmonics and sounds: It does. There is a trim level on the back of this thing to adjust. The bottom line is many who are complaining about this may not be using good pickups or equipment. This pedal like every other pedal functions at its best when used with a quality guitar and amp. For my money, I love it. I can now carry one guitar and this pedal. I predict this will change a of of things in rock/metal.

    Works just fine

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

Man, this unit is handy. I play a five-string bass, so I didn?t need it for myself, but for the sake of the singers (of which I am one), I bought this for the guitarist to use.It took a short while to get the old-school guy (he?s great btw) to accept it, but it?s so easy to use and works so well, there wasn?t much of an excuse to not use it, especially since he?s not interested in bringing alternately-tuned guitars, and I don?t blame him. Dropping a step sure does help a lot on many songs; we?re just not young anymore, haha. Oh, as someone else mentioned, when I was messing with it quietly, I heard the strings from the guitar (forgetting that they make some sound, too, dah) in addition to the dropped notes coming from the amp, and thought something was wrong with the unit. Be aware of this when testing it out.

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

I played this pedal in the store today, and was blown away - I put it on layaway right then and there. Even though it is a bit pricey, it costs considerably less than the EHX POG, and the ease of use is its best feature. I so a solo live looping act, and I bought this pedal primarily for its octaver function, which sounds absolutely great with an acoustic guitar -- I get extremely realistic bass tones out of it. I can't wait to have this thing paid off and use it at gigs. A+

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

My setup is Gibson SG Standard and Fender American Stratocaster into a Fender Blues Deluxe Amp. I got the pedal to cover some songs that are half step and full step down. This is the only Polyphonic pitch changing pedal I know of. Polyphonic means it will track full chords not just one note. It does an ok job, but does have a slight delay. Like I said I got this pedal for Eb and Drop C tuning which are common in today?s music. It does a good job, but it does have a noticeable effect on your tone. It is certainly useable in a live setting; but not for a lot of songs. You should think of this pedal like any other effect pedal. If you are going to use it for a few songs it would be fine, but not for extended use. One thing to be aware of is, it gets much worse the more you change the pitch. At three steps down it becomes unusable in my opinion. I ended up returning the pedal, because once I had a chance to play at gig volume I felt it did not sound as good as I initially thought. Also it kills your sustain.

    Best investment

    By William Burgess

    from Syracuse, NY

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

Wow! This was the best thing I've ever bought. It is worth every penny. The downside is that when you drop it...it takes some of your high end away so it sounds more bassy..I mean you can still tell it's a guitar sound but it's definietly more bassy. I used to always have like 3 guitars in 3 different tunings and when i would switch there would always be so much dead air because it just took a while to get the one guitar off and the other on. This thing is an instant tune on the fly...if you love your one guitar and want it for every song then you definietly need one of these.

    Very handy unit

    By Jerry Amos

    from USA

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

Works great for me. Should work great for you too if these features are something you are looking for.
I like to record in standard key, The band I play in tunes down 1/2 step. I have numerous guitars, one of them an Ibanez with the double locking tremolo bar. What a pain those are to tune, re-tune, up and down, up and down. The Morpheus takes care of that for me. Now I can leave all my guitars in standard tuning and use this to drop it down.
For those that play cover tunes, and those tunes include the newer style songs that drop down to a B, this is a great peddle," would save you having to have that ""special guitar"" already turned down.
I noticed no latency that I hear about in other reviews or comments. The tone stays true. I compared it also using my auto tuner and it locks in perfectly.
I think the only thing that they could have done with this unit is make the harmonizer section separate that works in conjunction with the drop tuning", rather than jumping back to standard tuning to work in these modes.
    Good solid box.
I guess it would be a good value. Could have been higher priced, could have been lower. For other peddles I've seen, this is pretty comprarable.

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is (ALMOST) unbelievable. All it took for me to buy it was just a couple of demos. I'm not going to B.S. here. This pedal was what I have needed for years. I was using three guitars, now I use just two, one is just a back-up. My other guitar player envys me! lol. Its so easy to use, does not effect tone. If you are in a cover band like I am, then you know how songs requier different tunings. Well, this pedal is the answer to all of those down tuning problems.. It's a little pricey, but worth every penny in my book. I love this pedal..

Just like having a reverse capo that lets you detune your guitar 3.5 steps! Love this pedal. I no longer bring an Eb-tuned second guitar to my gigs to play Van Halen and Jimi covers. It retains my true tone, which is really important to me because I've tweaked it for years to get it where I want it.

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

This pedal is decent. I've played it at gigs, I bought it at a music store because I have two guitars right now (Epiphone Silverburst, Ibanez RG 517) One tuned to Standard and the other in Drop D. I played this at a gig where we were playing a lot of Mastodon, Slipknot, Tool, ect. At gig volume this pedal robs your tone and kills your sustain. I returned the pedal and got my money back, you're much better off getting a guitar for each tuning you play in

It lives up to its claim!

Comments about Morpheus DropTune Octave Guitar Effects Pedal:

I went to a store with apprehension and skepticism still fresh in mind because I had just read these reviews. I was able to put my mind at ease after trying it out for myself. I fiddled with it for about an hour before I pulled out my wallet. Let's get something out in the open: This pedal is a crutch, not a permanent fix. It does exactly what it claims to do, namely, it helps out when a TEMPORARY drop tune is required. I take 2 guitars to a gig - one for my main axe and one for a backup, not to play in a different tuning. This pedal can get you through a 'difficult-to-sing' song without detuning your guitar and dealing with string rattle as a result, not to mention the dead stage time while tuning down and tuning back up. That's a good way to annoy your audience. We cover Government Mule's "Bad Little Doggie", which Warren plays in an Eb tuning. Good for him - he has a guitar tech on hand to keep a Gibson Firebird strung with heavier strings and tuned for that song, after which he switches back to his LP. We cover a couple of other tunes that sound better in Eb, so now I just push a button and PRESTO! - I'm in Eb. Sounds good to me, but being a digital pedal I do hear a little robot sound barely in the mix. Still, it beats having to tune down, or worse yet, not doing the songs at all because of the inconvenience. I took off half a point for the 'robot' background sound, but it still beats the alternative - having to detune or bringing a guitar just for those 2 or 3 songs. As for the other tunings, say one or two steps down, I'll never use them and I don't give a rat's tush what they sound like. By the way, the octave section on this thing is heads and shoulders above the Boss OC3 in my opinion, and I love Boss products. Well, I'm keeping mine on board for the duration. I could have taken it back for a full refund, but I'm pleased with it personally. I rarely buy new pedals, but this one is just out and I had a need for it. Conclusion: Its not a perfect solution, but its the best one I've found to date. It lives up to its claim!
