Let me start out by saying that this pedal sounds better to me than the block logo phase 90 and the script logo phase 90 w/LED. I didn't mind shelling out the extra cash for a warmer more vintage sounding phase (although side by side with an original the original stills sounds better it doesn't sound $400 better), that being said I will probably end up shelling out even more to add a power jack and why not throw in the LED and true bypass although the bypass on this pedal does not sound bad to me... This pedal definitely sounds good enough to offset its lack of features but the one problem I had was with the 9v battery. It doesn't come with one so you have to take off the back plate and put one in, no problem right? The battery wouldn't fit completely inside the pedal even after I cut out some of the gray foam protecting the circuit board so until I get the power jack added the back-plate remains halfway screwed on. All in all the lush, warm phase sounds are worth the money and minor inconveniences

I bought this version Phase 90 because it's suppose to be hand wired and actually have a lush suttle phase sound as oppose to the others that seem to be a little over the top.
I owned the EVH phase 90 and always thought it was a little to much phase despite using the script button.
The day this one arrived I took it out of the box installed a NEW battery and noticed mine didn't work...I tried changing the battery twice to make sure the batterys (date expiration 2016) I was using were ok, it didn't matter the unit refused to sound like a phase.
It did boost the channel a bit but that was about it, no phase signal at all.
I contacted MF let them know mine didn't work and asked for a replacement. Of course I had to print up a return lable (my paper) drive to the nearest UPs to drop it off (my gas).
Now I am waiting for a replacement for the hand wired unit that someone didn't hand wire correctly.
I am in the belief that hand wired vs printed circut (PSB) are an over priced selling point.
If the replacement dosen't work I will send that one back and expect a 100% refund.
I should get creddit for gas travel I have had to use returning a broken pedal sent to me but that's a life lesson learned.

Comments about MXR CSP-026 Handwired 1974 Vintage Phase 90 Pedal:
The Handwired '74 Phase 90 is simply a great sounding pedal. I use it for replicating famous Phase 90 sounds on various songs old and new.
If you are simply after one of the best Phase 90 sounds without dialing in then this pedal cant be beat.
I only use it for three to four songs a gig, but if you plan to use it as your main sound then the battery only option may be a problem.
This is definately THE phaser sound :)

If you're looking to copy somebody else's tone, this is a great pedal. If you want your own sound, find something with more shaping options.
great, classic sound
some quality issues (had to return the 1st, because i could hear the switch on/off)
limited options
Battery barely fits inside
Comments about MXR CSP-026 Handwired 1974 Vintage Phase 90 Pedal:
To sell a pedal these days and not offer an AC/ 9v power option is beyond me. I still bought this pedal because I'm 53 and still crave the (true analog) sound. It's older guys like me that remember the days before digital, and yes, there is a huge sound difference between the two. I play keyboards (yes, mainly analog) in a well known 70s band and had the sound tech wire my MXR 90 to accept the AC power that I need for my regular touring since changing batteries on the road is just a pain.Buy the pedal and either remember to unplug it between use or just re wire it if you want, It's not hard. I remember when a pedal like this would have cost much more in the 70s so it's still a good bargan in comparison.
Comments about MXR CSP-026 Handwired 1974 Vintage Phase 90 Pedal:
I listened to alot of phasers and this one nailed it for true vintage tone. An exact remake of the cherished original phaser used by greats such as EVH and Jimmy Page. What more can i say. It gets that Pink Floyd sound too. An LED and AC jack would be nice, but the battery lasts for a long time is you unplug it after using. You can also get a power plate or send it to Analogman to have these mods added. No regrets. MXR micro chorus is a gem also.

Comments about MXR CSP-026 Handwired 1974 Vintage Phase 90 Pedal:
I love this pedal. I bought it here at Musician's Friend. It's a great pedal, the best Phaser I've ever heard. I'm very picky about sound, and I own a few Keeley mods and have 13 pedals. This pedal is a highlight. It nails Pink Floyd and Van Halen exactly. Sweet, detailed. About the indicator light, if you can't tell that this pedal is on, then you might be tone deaf. It's pretty obvious.I do wish that they would put an indicator light on it and a dc out on the side.
Comments about MXR CSP-026 Handwired 1974 Vintage Phase 90 Pedal:
I give this 5 stars, despite the fact that the first one I received was defective. Musician's Friend, your customer service rules. Thank you for replacing this fantastic pedal.I compare this to a sweet spot on the Mu-Tron Phasor II. Given speed adjustment, that's all you need. This Phase 90's depth and color are nicely set to my taste. I appreciate its emphasis on the midrange, too. I have never played through any other Phase 90s, if that's valuable to readers. I play clean (for the most part), and this pedal is a must henceforth on my board. Thank you MF and MXR.
Comments about MXR CSP-026 Handwired 1974 Vintage Phase 90 Pedal:
i got this in the mail the other day and ever since ive been in love. when i first plugged it in it sounded incredible. the pedal itself looks really cool and vintage. some people are mad cause it doesnt have a led or a power supply jack but it doesnt bother me cause i use batteries anyways. the only bad thing about this pedal is when your use heavy overdrive/distortion its less noticable. overall this is a incredible pedal for the money and it was worth every penny. thanks mxr and musicians friend.
