I haven't had it long and I usually wait to post a review, but this baby is great. Keep in mind if you play classical or jazz then (ya) get something else because this pedal is for Dime! Took all of a few seconds of tweaking to get that sound. I have his dh-13 humbucker in his signature axe, too (that helps alot; my strat can't quite get that sound, LOL). Without the scoop button you get a nice chunky distortion rythym (it's nice); but when you tap the scoop button (can only imagine) it's like running 60 mph in a Ferrari and down shifting into 3rd gear and stomping it!! EEEK!! Almost get ya' nipples hard! LOL! Built like a tank, too! Definitley worth it!

For starters, I love Pantera. Heavy metal has been running in my blood since I was in middle school. I was really excited when I found out that the late and great Dimebag had a signature pedal on MXR. However, after using the pedal, I found that they went "too easy" on the distortion. Without the Scoop button pushed in, the pedal could appear disappointing to many. The other reviews I've read state that "people don't have the right setup who own this pedal and shouldn't critize the pedal's features and abilities." Honestly, I think that people praise this pedal out of consideration for Dimebag, and not for the quality of the pedal. If I could, I would probably sell it. If you like pantera, old metallica, slayer, etc., and want a mean, clean awesome distortion pedal, go with the Danelectro Fab Tone, which is surprisingly outstanding considering the look of the pedal.

Dime sound

By DimeMan

from Great Falls, MT

This is one of the best buys I've ever made. I plugged it in right away, started shredding away, and loved every minuete of it. Some might say that this will just make you sound like dimebag and you'll just be coppying his sound, but this is quite customable. I've been able to make a few unique sounds from this product, and find it to be one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Simply Awesome.

By Matt-wInLb

This pedal rocks. My amp isnt the best right now, so i ahve to run it thru a digitech rp100 too. But like this, it sounds so awesome. It's so heavy, but yet the sound is soo clear. This pedal isnt for people wanting a nice, vintage style distortion, it is for people looking for heavy distortion, and fans of Dime's work.

can you handle the doom that this box brings?

alright, ive trudged through piles of distortion pedals in a wide range of prices, and never truly been satisfied. This box is unreal, and for the price, its even more unreal. I run a cheap solid state peavy full stack, and its no suprise that every distorion pedal ive gotten sounds small, compressed, hissy, etc etc etc.. anyway, long story short, when i first plugged this bad boy in , the thickness and overall deliverance of its sound was jaw dropping, its got dimes name on it for a reason.. check it out.

Dime Distortion

By Tommo

from Hobart, Tas

dunno bout some of these guys, but the Dime is a great pedal. No it won't turn your amp into Dimebag's, but that's pretty unreasonable. You want Dime's real sound, then get a Randall Warhead and a Washburn Dime. You want something that's gonna give you a killer sound, get a DD-11.

not what i expected

i got this pedal a while back, and ended up returning it to the store. When i first plugged it in i expected a distortion with a little more saturation and tighter bass than what i got. this isnt a bad pedal, but i would recommend a boss or digitech unit instead.

It has very good low-end distortion and a very powerful distortion.

Total Range

By MetalGod420

What can I say, the dime is so versatile in tone and gain, I personally don't need much range of gain (always wide open) but the tone is awesome. Enough cannot be said about the construction of the Dime (and all MXR pedals). Steel toed Doc's cannot begin to test it's durability. All told the Dime is amazing. RIP Dimebag, we will make you proud.

Disappointing!

I am a long time Pantera fan and a Damageplan fan, so I figured that this pedal would at least give some great "Dime" like distortion. I am disappointed! It is not what I expected at all. Very weak in the distortion. Actually it's weak all around! EQ and gain are a joke. Do yourself a huge favor and go right to a Boss MT-2 Metalzone! You WON'T be disappointed with that one! Only good things about this pedal is that it is built very well and it came with an adapter. I use an Epiphone Les Paul stock, running through two Peavey amps w/ Celestion Classic Lead and Vintage 30 speakers on clean channels. I even used the MXR 10 band EQ pedal with this pedal, it only made it slighty better.
