Despite the ridiculous metal-centric hype surrounding this pedal (if you watch the official interview, Kerry King doesn't seem to know anything about his specific version of the pedal, other than the tattoo design) I have to say that from my experience this is the last EQ pedal I will ever have to buy.
For one, it's built like a tank. Even the sliders feel solid. The paint job looks sharp, and the tattoo is generic enough that you can pretend it's nice abstract art if you're not into that. It also looks cool in the dark.
For two, dual outputs. This rocks in a number of situations, whether you want to power two amps for a clean/dirty tone, set up a stereo effect, or do what I do and chop up your signal paths EVEN FURTHER.
Three, the required 18V power adapter is included. It's a bit bigger so it'll need to hang off the end of your power bar, but whatever works. This is a huge bonus.
Four, it's quiet. I've slowly stepped my way up from a Behringer 7-band to a Boss GE-7 - the only appreciable difference was the Boss's metal case - and found both added too much noise to my signal. Comparatively, this baby makes next to no noise, and you're not limited to cutting frequencies - you can also add them for a boost, and they come through clear as glass with very low hiss. It does span a much larger frequency spectrum than any guitar or bass will need, but this could come in handy if you ever plan to record keyboard or vocals, as I will be doing.
I'm also convinced that completely boosting the lowest 31.25hz channel really opens up the sound, but I could just be fooling myself!
There are both a Volume and a Gain slider. If you're boosted too high and the sound starts clipping too much, the pedal will let you know by flashing, so you can ensure you're getting the best of your sound.
Keep in mind too that this can not only be used to get the most out of your guitar, but it can also be used for a boost on solos, and can make some neat special effects and tones through clever manipulation!
Bottom line is, this pedal is well worth the price for both quality and flexibility of use. Everyone playing an amplified instrument can use an equalizer pedal, and I think it should be the first pedal anyone buys! (even if it's just a Behringer to start) The dual outputs are gravy on top.
Once you put this pedal on your board, you will not want to take it off, and you will not want to turn it off!

This EQ is almost exactly the same as the M-108, the only difference is that it has dual outputs and a tribal design on it. If you really need dual outputs (most people don't) just buy a M-108 and get a spliter. You don't really get anything for the extra money you pay.

Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
i play a schecter blackjack active c-7 through a peavey valveking 112 and was disappointed with the tone...until i got this eq pedal from MF.
ran this little beast through the effects loop and scooped out some low mids. What a difference. this pedal does exactly what i wanted and more. a must buy item if you can't get the tone you are after with just your amp.
very solid construction, low noise, and great sound.

Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
This is a complete waste of money. The EQ range is a joke. Tried it in several different configurations with my marshall and did not make any magical change in tone. The only thing it did was restrict and choke my original sound.I had better range with a digitech scott ian black 13 pedal and two knobs. I'll stick with my rackmounts, I have a better modeled sound than my actual amp. thought this would let me drive my rig harder and eq some major grind. But nothing but a complete waste of time and money.

I really love this pedal it helps me so much when i perform live and record too
Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
I use it in my effects loops, it allows me to get my tone with about any amp I use. Before you go buying
an amp or a cab looking for your tone, try this first. This EQ is very quiet. I have used the boss GEQ
forever, it's agreat EQ. But I prefered the MXR this time. I also use it on my Acoustic amp, it's that quiet.
Input & output level controls, good for clean boost in front of the amp. Each slider provides 12db cut/boost.. All the sliders are lit w/LED's when engaged. There are 2 outputs, perfect for dual amp (or a direct line out) set up.
The sliders move with authority, not sloppy at all. The switches are heavy duty. The box is has a
pretty good heft to it. No plastic here. Pretty tough construction.
I think it's priced right. It's well made, well lit & quiet.
Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
Don't let the Kerry King image scare you. This thing works well for all types of music. It simply wakes up your amp. I couldn't imagine not using it- you can really dial in your sound.
Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
I'm one of those people who virtually can't even begin to play my instrument until the tone is perfect to the last nuance. And I've gone to the trouble of getting a guitar with EMG's, outputting through two amps, and a high quality multi effects and distortion pedal and while that tone alone is very very good, I could tell that the tone was just on the edge of sexy goodness. All it needed was a little extra kick without ruining the tone already given from the distortion pedal. This EQ pedal was the answer. After putting it in my chain, the tone was immensely more chunky and the note clarity was three times better. And after dialing the perfect setting on all of my pedals and my two amps, my tone is finally perfect. This pedal is a necessity without question. I can't play without it now. It takes a while to figure out how to get the right sound out of it, but one you do, it's incredible.
Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
i play through a jsx 120 half stack with a b.c. rich avenge son of the beast which sounded good but when i bought the mxr krk this was the best sound i have had in years one word "brutal" i suggest if you have trouble finding the sound you are looking for buy this amazing eq pedal best thing i have bought
Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
I bought mine from a friend desperate for cash, and can I say, This thing is a pure beast! In my situation I use it as Tom Morello puts it, a "goes to 11 box". I only barely tweak a few of the low-mid sliders to scoop out the sound a little bit. Works excellent as a boost for solos or when you just need a little more!! I only use one amp, so having the two outputs is kinda pointless for me, but hey, I get bored with the left, why not switch it to the right output!! Try it, you won't regret it!
Comments about MXR KFK-1 Kerry King Ten Band Equalizer:
This is one of the hottest equalizers I have ever used, you really should get this, it has a really rad sound! I don't have it but my cousin does and i love it!!
