There is no way to describe my satisfaction towards this pedal. Within 5 minutes of opening the box, plugging it in and making some minor adjustments.... I don't know how anyone could not want to have this in their chain. I play a Gibson SG Special Black through a discontinued VOX ac50cp2 All Tube amp. So trust me there were no tones that needed to be fixed, but my gosh!! The addition to the tones I can already get, the MXR 10 band EQ is like having a beautiful diamond ring and polishing it!! I run my guitar into a ZVEX FF then into a crybaby wah, into the amp.!the rest of my board I run through the fx loop. As of right now the MXR EQ is the very last pedal in line. I have a feeling it will be a permanent location for this box and I also strongly believe I will never turn it off!! (on a side note I bought a EH METAL MU-F and returned it within a week.. The sound I was looking for in the MM I now have with my own guitar, my own tube amp and now eq. So basically my knowledge of thrashing and metal playing goes to show, you don't have to have all those cheesy add on stomp boxes.) do yourself a favor, if you feel your tone is too low, too high or just right, try this pedal and I Guarantee you'll feel like, "what was I doing before I had one of these??!!"

I've had this pedal for almost a year and about a week or two ago the input jack stopped working right and you had to move the cable around, I tried a different cable and the same thing happened. Other than it doing that its an excellent piece of gear to have. I play mainly metal and this thing keeps everything nice and tight. The notes I hit are clear even with a good amount of distortion running through it. My heavily distorted tones aren't muddy at all you can hear every note clearly. I keep it in my chain right before my isp decimator and it did its job until the input jack quit working right it's still usable, but it's annoying to have to move the cable every time it goes out.

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I bought this pedal mainly for shapeing my metal sound. It works great for that. Many options in that area. On the acoustic side however.... Not impressed at all. Electric clean tone can be touched up better than acoustic. Even though I didnt buy it for acoustic, that was still a let down. Anyway, youtube it like I did, to find helpful user evaluations.

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

When researching this pedal, I felt that it would help clean up my clean channel and also tighten up my distortion/overdrive. I must say that I was impressed of the different sounds you can get by using the 10 band equalizer sliders. However most of the sounds and total qualities that you can get from this pedal I do not use. I don't want to make my guitar sound like it is on a.m. radio, nor do I want my guitar to sound really fuzzy. The only thing that saved this pedal was the booklet that came with it. The booklet had four examples of settings for the pedal. I tried all of them and found that I like two of the four. One thing everyone must realize is that this pedal can distort/overdrive your sound. It can produce a crunch if you set it the right way. Before owning this pedaI did not know that. I guess I was in the market for something to clean up my tone, not produce a tone. I would say that this is nice to fool around with if you get bored or if you want to record something different. However I cannot recommend this as a mainstay on a pedal board for live performances or anything of that nature.

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I know some may feel that this is too much to spend on an EQ, I was apprehensive myself but what this thing does in the loop of my JCA220H is nothing short of amazing. I just sold all my distortion pedals cause I will never need 'em again.
I always loved the power of the eq section in the Boss MetalZone but did not always love the high end harshness and noisy quality of the tone, now I have that kind of control over my tube overdrive!
Had it two years with no issues.
      4 stars easy...

This make a great tone an outstanding tone.
Your favorite guitarist doesn't get his awesome tone from plugging a guitar straight into an amp...their tone is shaped with an EQ.

Feed back? tame it by rolling down high frequencies.
Burried in the mix? Boost the mids to cut through.

Why be limitted with the 3 or 4 knobs on the amp?

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

My main pedal rig for years centered around an MXR Dist.+ run into an Ibanez AF-9 Auto Filter but there seemed to be something missing. I wanted a little more control over my tone. I remembered an interview with Randy Rhoads who mentioned that he used an MXR 10 Band EQ to thicken the bottom end of his tone. I read the reviews of several brands and decided to get the MXR (If it was good enough for Randy...). The standout feature was the independent volume and gain controls. (This is great when using a small amp that you don't wish to blow up.) This pedal allows you to tailor your sound in myriads ways. I place it last in my signal chain and it is "fat city ". Where you place it has a big impact on the overall sound so it make take some time before you find the configuration that suits you best. If you seek to emulate Saint Randy's tone, the MXR 10 Band EQ is an integral part of the equation.

Besides a guitar and amp, this is 2nd only to a good noise gate.
An EQ is how you make your rig sound the way you want it to and how it should sound.

Obviousy a good amp/guitar combination is the foundation to good tone (as well as your hands)...
If you have never EQed your guitar, you don't know what you ar missing....or if you are getting bored with what you have, shaping the sound a little bit make bring that "new toy joy" back.

i cant even remember how long ive had this pedal. but no matter what my rig has been, this has always been in the mix. its pretty much perfect, the actual frequencies youre able to dial in on this thing are obviously geared to the guitar, and thats exactly why everyone should have one of these. it brings my tone to life and has allowed even the worst rigs of the past sound awesome. paired up with a nice compressor this can make your tone sound like a fully mastered recording.
