There is no way to describe my satisfaction towards this pedal. Within 5 minutes of opening the box, plugging it in and making some minor adjustments.... I don't know how anyone could not want to have this in their chain. I play a Gibson SG Special Black through a discontinued VOX ac50cp2 All Tube amp. So trust me there were no tones that needed to be fixed, but my gosh!! The addition to the tones I can already get, the MXR 10 band EQ is like having a beautiful diamond ring and polishing it!! I run my guitar into a ZVEX FF then into a crybaby wah, into the amp.!the rest of my board I run through the fx loop. As of right now the MXR EQ is the very last pedal in line. I have a feeling it will be a permanent location for this box and I also strongly believe I will never turn it off!! (on a side note I bought a EH METAL MU-F and returned it within a week.. The sound I was looking for in the MM I now have with my own guitar, my own tube amp and now eq. So basically my knowledge of thrashing and metal playing goes to show, you don't have to have all those cheesy add on stomp boxes.) do yourself a favor, if you feel your tone is too low, too high or just right, try this pedal and I Guarantee you'll feel like, "what was I doing before I had one of these??!!"

I've had this pedal for almost a year and about a week or two ago the input jack stopped working right and you had to move the cable around, I tried a different cable and the same thing happened. Other than it doing that its an excellent piece of gear to have. I play mainly metal and this thing keeps everything nice and tight. The notes I hit are clear even with a good amount of distortion running through it. My heavily distorted tones aren't muddy at all you can hear every note clearly. I keep it in my chain right before my isp decimator and it did its job until the input jack quit working right it's still usable, but it's annoying to have to move the cable every time it goes out.

MXR

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I am very pleased with this eq. I was a little worried that there would be a change to my tone with this in line I use a multi amp set up running in stereo (Bogners) and my guitar volume knob is everything to me in getting my tone and gain the way i want it depending on what the song calls for, so i was skeptical about putting a device of any kind before the eventide pitchfactor and my bogners. This eq did ust exactly what i had hoped it would, let me shape my tone with out adding any of its own color to my sound. perfect piece. highly recommend
Feature set is just right, gain, volume, eq banks, lights and true bypass
Built the way I would have designed it...like a rock, solid
no frilly stuff, no gadgets to get in the way, a bargain

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I needed another EQ for my second board and was about to buy a second Boss GE-7 but this MXR- EQ pedal caught my eye ( and ear ). Boss makes a nice EQ too but for a few more bucks you can get many more features.
One concern was that I had read this pedal was noisey at high settings but it was pretty quiet for me and I did not have to engage my noise gate at all.
I agree with the other review that said some of the sliders do not seem to make an apprecialbe difference but it could just be my ears from years of abuse. But don't be surprised if you turn it on and hit the first slider and hear little change....keep going.
Some things I really liked sound wise was: placing this pedal prior to distortion ( or in front of a tube amp) with the gain slider bumped up a little to really bring it to its full potential. Also if you have another tone effect pedal you are thinking of getting rid of try to pair it up with this EQ first as it can breathe new like into a mediocre pedal or make an already good pedal sound great.
It does take a little longer to dial in the sweet spots with all the MXR's controls as compared to the Boss so be ready for some more tweaking time between the two.
Power: It requires 18VDC with the included wall wart so you may want and extra one down the road or a DC power brick, (no battery power on this one.)
If you want an EQ with a few more (very useful) features , for just a few more bucks, and are willing to spend a few more min to tweak the sound then you may like this one too.
Red LED sliders, handy in the dark and look cool too.Volume "and" gain controlsJust 5.0in x 3.5 in foot print ( not bad for 12 slide controls)Heavy duty enclosure, nice black textured finish, nice weight to it.
With all the extra features it runs only a little more than a Boss GE-7 EQ

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I was not prepared for how well this unit grabs the tones I was lookiing for. It can tame the angry fizzy bees and take things back to classic rock or adjust to more modern deep growl. Also, it will shape the sound at lower house-level volumes when practicing with the tube amp. I run this in the effects loop for reasons you can research. If you are not happy with your amp, give this a try. I think your ears will smile.
Has all you want in a stompbox EQ. Lighted slilders are a HUGE plus. Let the other effects to their thing.
Have always liked MXR heavy metal construction
For a little more money you get to look at lighted sliders. I'm a sucker for graphic a light show.

Wonderful pedal!

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

It is built well, doesn't cost too much, has a wide range of useful frequencies, and is a delight to operate. I use it all the time and am very glad I bought it. I use it more than any of my other pedals and I highly recommend it!
This pedal is great!
It puts up with a lot of adjustment by my little children and always sounds great. The settings they come up with are great so I just plug in and find interesting sounds.
It is well worth the money.

Good piece of gear

By Casterblaster

from Montreal, Qc

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

I really like the level of functionality and it allows me to very quickly tweak my rig to the room, guitar selection, etc... it's very solid and reliable so quite pleased with it overall. I have used several different eq units over the years and this is about the best you can get in a stomp box format and I am not one to fart around with rack mounted units.
Volume and gain in addition to 10 adjustable bands gives you lots of flexibility in coloring your tone. Hardwire bypass with minimal tone sucking when off is a plus, though given its application in shaping tone, it's pretty much always on and influencing my sound, so tone sucking in the off position isn't such a big concern.
Rock solid.
Very good functionality and reliable. I think all decent, new gear is a little overpriced and would be cheaper if not for the crazy marketing dollars that go into moving loads of units off the shelf... I would have given it a perfect 10 at half the price.

A must have.

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

If you could only have one pedal in front of your amp, you should give serious thought about a ten band EQ. The gain slider acts as a booster and the volume slider lets you tailor the overall sound before the signal hits the amp. Lighted sliders really come in handy to highlight your EQ curve at a glance. This feature should be standard on every EQ made.

If you are in the market for an EQ pedal but can only afford a six-bander right now, do yourself a favor and save for a little while longer. Ten bands give you more control and allow you to fine tune that tone. This is a quality pedal that will help you get your sound.
With the Gain and Volume sliders, the M-108 is really two pedals in one. It acts as a booster as well as a tone shaper. You get a lot of control over your sound, and this is really one of those I-wish-I-would-have-done-this-sooner type things.
Top notch build quality. It has a nice weight to it and feels solid.
Trust me, go for the ten band over the six. You won't be sorry. This is worth every penny.

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

When researching this pedal, I felt that it would help clean up my clean channel and also tighten up my distortion/overdrive. I must say that I was impressed of the different sounds you can get by using the 10 band equalizer sliders. However most of the sounds and total qualities that you can get from this pedal I do not use. I don't want to make my guitar sound like it is on a.m. radio, nor do I want my guitar to sound really fuzzy. The only thing that saved this pedal was the booklet that came with it. The booklet had four examples of settings for the pedal. I tried all of them and found that I like two of the four. One thing everyone must realize is that this pedal can distort/overdrive your sound. It can produce a crunch if you set it the right way. Before owning this pedaI did not know that. I guess I was in the market for something to clean up my tone, not produce a tone. I would say that this is nice to fool around with if you get bored or if you want to record something different. However I cannot recommend this as a mainstay on a pedal board for live performances or anything of that nature.

Comments about MXR M-108 Ten Band Graphic EQ:

My main pedal rig for years centered around an MXR Dist.+ run into an Ibanez AF-9 Auto Filter but there seemed to be something missing. I wanted a little more control over my tone. I remembered an interview with Randy Rhoads who mentioned that he used an MXR 10 Band EQ to thicken the bottom end of his tone. I read the reviews of several brands and decided to get the MXR (If it was good enough for Randy...). The standout feature was the independent volume and gain controls. (This is great when using a small amp that you don't wish to blow up.) This pedal allows you to tailor your sound in myriads ways. I place it last in my signal chain and it is "fat city ". Where you place it has a big impact on the overall sound so it make take some time before you find the configuration that suits you best. If you seek to emulate Saint Randy's tone, the MXR 10 Band EQ is an integral part of the equation.
