This is it guys, a DynaComp with an "Attach" control. No mods required. What else would you need or want? If you know how to use a compressor, you will find this compressor to fit in very well. Adds no noise (again, if you know how to use it), and does not alter the tone (outside of that sought after DynaComp flavoring). I've tried the Maxon CP101 (ok pedal) and the Ibenez/Maxon CP-9 (good pedal but way overpriced). With the added "Attach" control you gain more control over how the compressor reacts and is more versatile than the DynaComp when used between single coil and humbucker guitars output levels. The SuperComp is what's on my board.

I originally purchased a compressor to add sustain to my country chicken-pickin' leads, and to make the notes in chords hold in a bit longer. I initially was very happy with this pedal. The attack knob adds a ton of versatility and it eliminates some of the 'poppy, clickiness' that dyna comps are known for. It essentially allowed the compressor to sound more tranparent, although it could sound like a dyna comp when needed. There are better sounding, more transparent compressors out there, but for the price I was very content with the pedal. Unfortunately, after a while I noticed that this pedal was hugely sucking the tone from my signal when it was disengaged. When the pedal was disengaged, my tone was sterile and anemic, and horrible. When I took the pedal out of my board, the 'sterileness' was gone. Then I looked it up and found out that this pedal is 'true hardwire bypass', not true bypass as I had been tricked into believing. For the value, the pedal is good. But for me, it's way too much of a tone sucker. I am going with a high end true-bypass boutique compressor.

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

There are a lot of compressors to choose from, at this price range and above. The Super Comp is the quietest, most transparent, always-on compressor I have ever used. That includes EHX Soul Preacher, Dyna Comp, Digitech and TC Electronic digital comps. It just does that great job of giving you that little bit of compression you need to balance the dynamics, without altering your tone. I don't find it sucks tone in the off position, but I almost never turn it off. It can be noisy, if you have a noisy power supply. With a Voodoo or regulated supply, even battery, it is whisper quiet at low levels of compression. If you use a 1-spot or crank the compression all the way, it will be noisy, but that is true of any compressor. Much better output and attack control than a Dyna Comp. I don't know how this stacks up to Keely or Strymon or Wampler, but for a low-budget compressor, it is the best!

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

As far as I can tell-and from what research I've done on the Super Comp-this pedal is a Dyna Comp with an attack control that sells for only slightly more than a regular Dyna Comp. The Dyna Comp is a classic, but for such a minimal price difference it really makes greater sense to get the Super Comp and have more tone-shaping ability. The attack control, in my experience, is useful for restoring some of the "bite" that is lost to the compressed signal.

If you want a hi-fi, "transparent" sounding compressor, look elsewhere. There are a bunch of trendy boutique boxes that will give you more of a respectable studio-quality sounding compression. The Super Comp actually can be fairly subtle as long as you keep the sensitivity knob dialed back. However, the overall tone is classic Dyna Comp, with plenty of squeeze, squish and sustain. In other words, you don't need the LED to know it's on. Yes, if you get aggressive with the sensitivity knob setting, things get noisy. That's the nature of the beast!

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

I bought this pedal for compressed cleans and thick country twang. I expected a nice and tight sound.

In my personal opinion, I don't feel the pedal does much. It squeezes some, but not as much as the BOSS Compression/Sustainer or a few other pedals out there. Id say its meh, but buy something a little more responsive and versatile.

Bought my first Dynacomp in 1982, and have used them ever since. I even carved out space in one of my guitars and installed the guts of a Dynacomp into it. The Super Comp lives up to my expectations, and then some!

Thanks to musicians friend for the cinco de mayo sale! got a great deal calling in my order...costumer service A+!.....
let me say this ....if you play guitar and don't own one of these you're not really playing guitar yet ....it is that important to your arsenal ....forget Nashville ,any rock jazz or blues whatsoever requires the use of a compressor pedal ...as a recording engineer I can really appreciate the added attack feature...it makes a huge difference with hot pickups ....I am fortunate to have a guitar with coil-splitting .....and it is amazing with the attack knob does ..I am playing threw a line 6 spider jam and Esp Ltd with humbuckers!.. thanks!!!

It's tough, has true bipass and sounds sweet on my bugera 5watt tube amp and telecaster. I got it for getting into two handing tapping. Now I just need a Katana Clean Boost. Does this pedal have Germanium transistors anyone?

Great sound, the attack seems useless to me, maybe ok to others, what got me is the 3PDPT switch is well how do ya say(the most important part when it comes to off and on) is like no other I have ever seen? Soldered to the circuit board but is mechanical, bolted separately from the circuit board, and if it ever comes loose, well its no good any more, which mine did(I have a big foot but). Mine lasted about a year? Use a loop switcher and leave it on and maybe it will hold up. Had to take mine apart and set it to the on position to continue to work. I also own a carbon copy(hope it has a different type of switch)and many other Dunlop products but the 3PDPT switch is #&%^!@. Sorry Jim but it is what it is?

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

Probably makes a better rock/distorted guitar comp than a bass comp. It did do exactly what was advertised - massive thick sound and sustain up the ying on my Warwick 5 string, but the downside was too much color in the sound and a nearly unkillable buzz when I turned up compression or output volume above 50%. If you want to try it, I found it worked best (better sound, quieter buzz) in my effects loop rather than putting it between my amp and guitar. I didn't crush it on the ratings because I it's probably a great product, just not for me. Sort of a pedal version of a big steel tool chest that would work great for somebody who owns a Ford F-150, but I'm driving a CIVIC. Heh. For me it wasn't a great fit. I have a BBE Opto Stomp coming in the mail today, and will probably give the MXR to my (guitar playing) son. Build quality seemed pretty good, and I would guess I can eventually cash this in at G/C or M/F for store credit and buy some other stuff.

Comments about MXR M-132 Super Comp Compressor Pedal:

I'll try to keep this short. I was looking for a 'Trey tone' type compressor that could give me that dynamic attack that Trey's Ross Compressor gives him. This pedal does that very well. In fact, this is a damn good compressor, slightly different than the Dyna Comp and not just because of the attack but an overall slightly different flavor.I put the Super Comp after my Barber LTD (Sliver=Awesome) and wahla! Instant Trey tone.. kinda, you gotta fiddle with the Overdrive and EQ on your amp to get close to that tone. But overall this is a good compressor.Huge CON: Its terribly noisy. Its very difficult to tame this noise because i like to keep the compressor on all the time (except with the Q Tron on). I have to use my Volume pedal to silence my signal when im not playing or else deal with feedback or noise. (Not feedback due to other effects on as well, just w/. compressor on)Other than the noisy-ness, this is a pretty good compressor. Attack nob is very useful, you can go from Trey Tone to complete transparency. Check one out and fiddle with it, it takes some real fiddling if your gonna use it with other pedals to get your sound.
