OVERVIEW

Go from sparkly watery shimmers to intense rotating speaker simulation with a twist of the rate control knob.

With its simple operation and stellar analog tone, the MXR Micro Chorus guitar pedal joins the ranks of MXR Classics such as the Phase 90, Dyna Comp and Micro Amp. This '80s reissue delivers a stunning range of rich chorus textures from sparkly watery shimmers to intense rotating speaker simulation with a twist of the Rate control. The MXR Micro Chorus pedal is designed with old-school bucket brigade technology for warm analog tone and features true bypass for pure guitar tone when the guitar effects pedal is off. Its roadworthy hardware and components are housed in a space saving Phase 90-sized box.

The MXR Micro Chorus pedal can be powered by one 9V battery (accessed by removing the effect pedal's bottom plate), a Dunlop DC810DC brick, or MC403 Power system (sold separately).

FEATURES
  • All-analog circuitry with bucket brigade technology for warm analog tone
  • True bypass with LED

The micro chorus is pretty much exactly what I was looking for in a chorus sound. I try to use effects sparingly and not many of them but I am very particular about the sort of sound I want when I do use them. In the past I've used a small clone, digitech multichorus and various TC Electronic chorus effects...none of which sounded as good as this pedal.
At first I was concerned that there is not a depth control on it but the sound of this pedal is huge so I actually don't feel like I need it. It might actually be a little too enveloping for some people. The speed range is very usable to me anywhere from 8 to 1 o'clock on the rate knob. I tend to stick with slower chorus for more of a doubling effect.
Another reason I like the pedal is that it is analog and true bypass. A reason I don't like the small clone is that it seemed to not have a lot of head room when using it through an effect loop, especially with distortion. Don't have that problem with the micro chorus.Doesn't squish the signal at all.
Overall if you're looking for something simple this is the best chorus I've ever used.
Not a lot to it which is a good thing. I was a little worried that there is not a depth control but after using the pedal it doesn't seem like I need one.
I own many MXR pedals and they are always build solid and reliable. I've never had an issue with any of them.
For the sounds I'm getting from this pedal I'd say the value is great.

Way too much noise to use for quiet chording/arpeggios. The stereo chorus is dead quiet. I was hoping for something similar in a small package but I was very disappointed. I only have 2 or 3 other pedals, and I have carefully chosen effects that are dead quiet. I put this back in the box after 5 minutes and sold it the next day.

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I've owned a handful of boutique chorus pedals and the MXR Micro is my favorite. It is JUST RIGHT how it is. You can dial in a leslie sound or a swirly Gilmourish chorus. All you need is one knob. Its the perfect amount of Chorus as it is.

If you need cartoony crazy chorus sounds look elsewhere. If you want a solid, juicy chorus, this is the one.

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Gotta Put My 2 Cents Worth Out There About The M148, Most Reviews Here Are Right On The Money!
For Starters, Do Not Be Put Off Because Of The Single Control, That Is Not An Issue With This Pedal! That One Knob Will Take You To Chorus Heaven. Like Others Have Stated Here, I Too Have Used Many Chorus EFX, Both Pedal And Rack, Rarely Impressed, Just Could Not Dial In That Elusive Tone, After While You Give Up And Sell Off About Every One, Then There Comes A Sort Of Avoidance Of That Effect All Together, Just Never Got That Full And Round Sound That Comes From Analog Design! Not Saying That One Size Fits All With The M148, But Dang, It IS Good And Soooo Simple To Dial In Those Vintage Tones! Gotta Give It Up For The Design Team At MXR, The Parameters And Sweep Of the Micro Chorus Preset Control Are Very Useable Indeed; No Fiddle and Faddle, Sweet Chorusing It Is Just There at The Turn Of One Dial.
Of Course There Are Many Kinds and Types of Chorus, And Numbers Of Modern Players Have Good Luck With Digital Modualation Designs, Then There Are The Hard Core "Old School" Guys Who Build Their Sound Around The Fatter And Warmer Analog Classic Circuits, I Am Of The Latter Persuasion And Oh So Fussy About The High End In My Chorusing, If It Is Thin And Edgey, Than That Is Not Gonna Work For Me; This IS Where The Micro Excells With A Smooth And Full Chorus That Is Not Overly Bright Or Processed Sounding; Even A Telecaster Can Sound Rich On This Pedal, Neck Pickup Of Course!--Some Of The Best Rhythm We Have Heard! My Biggest Complaint Is That All The MXR Stuff Is Getting Pretty Pricey, BUT For The Money, You Will Be Hard Pressed To Find A Better Sounding Chorus Pedal, And As For Ease Of Use, We Know Of No Other Make Or Model That Compares-A Clear Winner All Around!

        Just right

Comments about MXR M148 Micro Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I just never liked chorusing because it reminded me of a lot of cheesy 70'and 80"s recordings- too metallic and shrill. But a little swirl is a good thing and a uni-vibe sound is just too much for my personal tastes. This box, when left at its lowest setting, adds just the right amount of swirl. It never gets seasicky even at its highest setting and it blends with the sound of your rig. It doesn't sound like it's "added on". Great price, solid build quality.

Love Mxr stuff! Don't like a million knobs to fiddle with, but a depth knob wouldn't hurt and maybe a baby blue paint job. Nonetheless this pedal sounds great at any setting, it will give you that nice lovely chorus sound that you are looking for at a great price. I'm glad mxr reissued this pedal, built like a tank!

I've been an mxr fan for about 20 years. great sound, very durable, simple to operate, all you really need. I don't like pedals that have alot of really small knobs spaced to close together. this one is so easy to dial in. Big knob and rubber cover on the knob is a great idea.

Just got this yesterday. Sounds great, right from the get-go! Pedals don't get much easier to use than this one. I also have the mxr phase 90, and this is a perfect companion to it. I'm currently running this between my Les Paul Jr. and my Peavey Delta Blues tube amp(15"speaker). It's a an unbelievably sweet combo. Reminds me of Ali Farka Toure's sound. The mxr micro chorus is well worth the money!

Wanted a chorus effect to fatten up my sound a bit. This one is perfect, one knob to rule them all! Doesn't get much easier than this AND it sounds fantastic!

Running in effects loop of 1994 Fender Blues Deluxe and I can't get enough of playing arpeggiated chords with my G&L Asat or Strat. I'm sure the house is sick of it but it just sounds SO good.

Seriously easy to use and don't have to spend all night getting the perfect sound.

I was concerned that only one knob would be too limited but they pre dialed in a nice balance, the sweet spot well for the mix, a mix knob I would have perhaps use one time and would have set just where they did. It's not too over powering. True bypass kept me from looking any further.
