OVERVIEW

A versatile and brutal fuzz designed just for bass.

The MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal offers you Volume, Tone, and Fuzz controls to sculpt your tone with precision. You get everything you need--from searing, sustained upper-register chords to punchy, growling low B's--without sacrificing low end or clarity.

MXR took a classic 70's fuzz circuit, re-tuned it for more low end, and added a DEEP switch that delivers up to +15dB of monstrous bass that is internally adjustable between 87Hz - 113Hz. The El Grande comes in a lightweight yet durable aluminum case equipped with the same high-quality jacks and switches that have made MXR pedals a road-ready standard on pedal boards around the world for over 30 years.

I bought this pedal after trying it out in a local music store. The bass boost button turned out to be totally unnecessary for me, but my signal already has a ton of bass in it. Just like everybody else says, this pedal is REALLY F***ING LOUD! I hardly turn up the volume knob at all. I play it with a morely wah and a sans amp bass driver DI plugged into an SVT4 and a BBE maxcom compressor. Occasionally use it with a DOD buzz box, whoo boy that's a trip. This pedal is awesome for doom/drone metal. I'd say it's on par with the boss FZ-2 used by boris and electric wizard, which is no longer in production. Just buy it, it's cheap and awesome.

First one that came in turned on one time. I hit the footswitch once and it never turned on again. didn't even get to hear what it sounded like. When the replacement came in, it turned on. Extremely excited, i rushed over to my rig (schecter studio-6 through fender rumble 2x10 100W with TU-2 and BBE sonic stomp in loop) and patched it into my effects loop. An EXTREMELY loud and low pitched buzz came rushing through the amp. I played with the nobs and buttons and what not and the only way to eliminate the buzz was turning down the volume to 0... playing made the buzz fade a little behind the playing but any silence and it came back just as strong and terribly noticeable. The fuzz sounded decent behind it all but it's pointless, and adding more fuzz or pressing the deep switch just multiplied the endless stream of noise. I was really expecting a lot from this pedal and now i'm horribly disappointed. My search for a bass distortion/fuzz to fit my sound will just have to continue.

Great fuzz!

By ken Smith

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

A really great bass fuzz! It does really well at keeping the low end whole. It has some issues with feedback sometimes if you really crank up the volume/fuzz, but overall it is avoidable. Great fuzz, great tone, great price!

Better on my Guitar Board!

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

Just didn't work for me as a bass pedal but Worked pretty good as a guitar pedal.
Nice little fuzz pedal, Quality built & everything else but the sound. I never could get all four strings to sound right using this thing, BUT, when I put it in my guitar string I found where it worked! Take "BASS" out of the name & you have a nice little guitar fuzz pedal. I've bought a "Big Muff Bass" pedal I use for my bass, but the M182 is still in my guitar string & doing fine!
Very Well Made!
Ok if it was a bass pedal.

Works Great on Guitar!

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

I may just be me, but I didn't like it with my old Peavey amp & old Gibson EB-O, or with my Fender P.B. It sounds great & fuzzy on guitars though. Maybe I just need to mess with some more. It is a very well made unit. I just got a nice old Peavey 5 string with actives that I'll try it on. Should work better.

MXR El Grande Bass Fuzz

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

If what you are looking for is all out, tear your face off distortion, this pedal will do the trick. I doesn't do much else, but I think that is fine. It works very well for exactly what I use it for.

MXR EL GRANDE BASS FUZZ

By JDHorn892

from Jackson, MS

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

It took trying a few different fuzz pedals live to hear and find the tone I was searching for. If you've never used overdrive on bass this pedal is gonna seem loud. In the long run,you will probably want something to cut through. This pedal will do that. It is analog. This is a distortion pedal. You don't blend your ambient sound.I love it!

El Grande!

By bassrocker41

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

I received this pedal two weeks ago. I cant even describe how amazing this pedal is. It sounds amazing. The deep switch keeps your lows in place. Also, this pedal is loud. I use the volume up around 8:00. One con: this pedal doesnt mix with a dunlop 105q. But if you are getting a bass fuzz get this one.

El Grande

By Nick-T7_uQ

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

This is a pretty good fuzz pedal. When using it with my Schecter Stiletto Studio on my Fender Bassman 250 it wails. Doesnt sound so good on my Fender P-Bass though. It delivers a very heavy distortion while keeping the bottom end. I would recommend opening it up and turning the deep switch down if you want to use it. Mine wasnt set on the factory settings like the instruction booklet said but after some adjustment it sounds fine. It also tends to sound a little fizzy and sounds better if you turn the treble or the tweeter down. But overall a pretty solid pedal. When I add my wah pedal to the mix I can get almost get that Cliff Burton sound.

Crunchy Fuzz

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

Comments about MXR M182 El Grande Bass Fuzz Pedal:

Excellent Bass Fuzz Pedal! Very crunchy and has plenty of midrange and upper midrange content. This is not a typical all lows and high end type of fuzz. This is a mean sounding fuzz. There is some feedback at higher settings, but muting the strings cures that. No extra noise whatsoever with this pedal. Can do the fuzz sound of Anesthesia - Pulling Teeth - Metallica.
