OVERVIEW

Get the chorus pedal that fuels the deep, dark guitar sounds of Black Label Society frontman Zakk Wylde.

The MXR Black Label Chorus is Zakk's secret weapon to thicken up his wall of distortion and add liquid dimension and texture to clean passages. At the heart of the MXR Black Label Chorus is its bucket brigade circuitry-the only way to get truly rich and warm analog chorusing. The MXR Zakk Wylde Chorus pedal's vintage style tones are dialed in by High and Low cut filters and Level, Rate, and Depth controls. For the ultimate in spatial chorusing, hook up 2 amps via the 2 outputs for a wide and sweeping stereo spread. Like all MXR pedals, the Black Label Chorus comes in a heavy-duty housing with durable jacks and switches for a lifetime on the road.

The MXR Zakk Wylde Chorus guitar pedal can be powered by one 9V battery (accessed by removing the effect pedal's bottom plate), a Dunlop DC810DC brick, or MC403 Power system (sold separately).

works great. does exactly what it's supposed to. the only problem i had was the first one that got delivered did not work when plugged in. it worked with the battery but not the 9 volt adapter. i have never seen that happen before? what was really odd was that in the same order i had purchased a kirk hammet signature cry baby wah pedal and it had the exact same issue??? very weird. all my other pedals work fine and i use the dc brick to power everything so it was just a strange coincidence. maybe just a batch of bad plugs or something simple like that? either way the the customer service rep at musicians friend was awesome,he arranged for me to send the items back via ups and as soon as they had tracking info he shipped out replacements on 2nd day air i had both in my hand in by the end of the second day. they were christmas gifts and anything other than that level of service would have made those gifts obsolete. so thanks unfortunately i did not get his name but hopefully this is the standard.. as i have had some pretty bad luck with other companies. and as far as the pedals go they are great! the issue with plug is just one of those things that happens once on a while even with quality products what matters is how the manufacture and the dealer responds to the customer when there is a problem and in this case they both did exactly what they were supposed to do. mxr and musicians friend have my buisiness and my sons business for years to come!

Bought this pedal new and was hugely disappointed. As soon as the level knob is at 12 o clock or more it introduces a lot of noise, so much so that in my view it's almost unusable. I run a Les Paul into a dual Rec and have high gain its true but for a pedal made for high gain use this was a surprise and I took the pedal straight back to the store for a refund. I even ran it with a BBE sonic maximiser with noise gate and it didn't help the noise was immediately obvious when the effect was engaged with the level anywhere above about 9 o clock. I guess most people could live with it but I couldn't.

Amazing Pedal, Amazing Price

Comments about MXR ZW38 Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I can't believe you can get this good of a chorus pedal at this price. It's analog, has 5 knobs to dial in the sounds you want, sounds great, even looks OK. I'm not a Zakk Wylde fan and personally I think it's a better effect when used clean, although there are a couple of flanger-like tones on here for heavy distortion if you need that. If you want Police or Cult (Love album) sounds, this is a great pedal. I recommend this pedal without reservation.

Comments about MXR ZW38 Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Great chorus pedal. Great for adding modulation to your clean tones or beefing up your lead tones. It also gets a kind of psycadelic sound when you dime the rate and depth. Blows the Boss and Digitech Chorus` away.

Comments about MXR ZW38 Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

It's an MXR with Zakk's name on it. it has lots of color. Good signal. Doesn't color my sound in a bad way compared to other units that are not true bypass. Someday it might be worth more considering it's time frame with who endorsed it. But the main issue here is it's signal and how it feeds my signal a chorus for those times when I call upon it. And that it does well enough to stay within my board. It's a keeper.
So far I have had no problems with it and the way it works.
I give it a 10 for having true bypass. I have a Boss chorus that has all the same features but it doesn't have true bypass. I can see the difference. Now... I really don't know what Bucket Brigade Circuitry really is...but I am able to get a nice chorus sound from this little unit. No rubber boots for the knobs..like some other MXR units... no big deal.
I gave this a 10 in quality. it is built well for it's intended purpose. Sounds good and is even a little smaller for my pedal board than the Boss but not really an issue. I get some nice chorus form my Lexicon MX400s looped through my two stacks. But I also wanted this little gem in my pedalboard so I can touch with ease for softer parts of songs when I slow down and rake some chords or tap some harmonics. I was also surprised a the clean metallic tone with the gain up that is different than my Lexicon units. Very useful!

must have if you want to sound like zakk

Comments about MXR ZW38 Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

if you are trying to sound like zakk wylde this pedal is a must have. i play a les paul standard through a marshall jcm900 amp with this pedal, and i use a dunlap cybaby wah for solos and i sound very close to him (for sound and tone, not for talent or ability...this pedal will not give you that). i plan to buy his emg pickups for a les paul that i recently purchased, but if you are looking to get close to his sound, or just give yourself more stage presence, or simply to boost you solos, this pedal is for you.

Best Chorus

Comments about MXR ZW38 Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

Christmas 2010 brought this pedal to me. While for me it works best in the FX loop, it sounds wide and huge even in Mono. Great for cleans! Add a little delay to it and you get the cheesy 80's power ballad clean sound. I love Zakk Wylde, MXR, Dunlop, and especially this pedal! Thank you MXR!

This little thing has so many sounds, how did they get them all in there?? Whatever your chorus needs are, this does it without the noise. Being able to fit in your pocket is a plus too.

Nice chorus. As others have said, it is good for clean or saturated signals. Does not significantly color, boost, or lower your bypassed signal, so far as I can tell.

This pedal is versitile. It sounds awesome on a clean or a distorted channel. I'm a primary metal player and I use this to add some demention instead of having a muddy wall of distortion. I love it. It also is good for clean playing. This is the only chorus pedal i will ever use, kudos to MXR for build yet another great pedal.

Comments about MXR ZW38 Zakk Wylde Black Label Chorus Guitar Effects Pedal:

I like zakk Wylde but I bought this pedal to try and expand my tone. I currently play through a Line 6 spider 3. My amp has built in chorus but it does not sound good at all. When I recieved the Wylde Chorus I played with it for a few days on just one amo and it sounded pretty good. I believe it "widens" my sound, as well as shapes the tone nicely. HOWEVER, I decided to borrow my friends line 6 amp to hook up the stereo output feature and WOW. Its amazing. I am really happy i picked this thing up. I know i will have it for a long time, if not forever. now I have my own "wall of bedroom doom". Its bad to the bone, BUY IT!
