The first thing you notice about Orange Crush amplifiers is their cool looks. Just like their bigger brothers, they have the legendary Orange basket weave Tolex, woven speaker grille, beading and legendary hieroglyphs (PiX) and of course the Orange signature 'picture frame' edging. But it's not just cool looks”plug into the Orange Crush PiX CR35LDX amp, or any of these great little Orange guitar amps and you'll soon realize they are Orange through and through.

The 35W Orange Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp features 3-band EQ control to better define your sound. The switchable overdrive (with optional footswitch) kicks your guitar into high-gear with plenty of heavy tone. The Orange amp's built-in tuner is easy, helpful, and keeps you in precise tune. The auxiliary input is great for an MP3 player, for playing along to, or just jamming out with the loudspeaker. The Orange CR35LDX amp's headphone out is great for silent practicing.

The collection of digital effects adds character to sound. This 35W Orange amplifier's effects include delay, reverb, chorus, and tremolo for a wide assortment of sounds you can get in this sweet combo. A line out also lets you plug in to a larger stack, or into a soundboard for an amplified experience with the tone and control of your Orange guitar amp.

For only [$], what you get is a light, portable solid-state amp with a handy tuner, line-out, headphones-out and line-in for practice, and with:a) very mellow, jazzy/bluesy, low-midrange cleans b) very smooth, rounded and warm overdrive,c) nice digital effects (although limited in how much you can control them), among which reverbs sound particularly great and useful. The reverbs are surprisingly good in that they are not boxy and tunnel-like but chiming, bright and wide open. The only parameter for any effect is how much of it you will use, and they were not shy about those, either - any of the effects becomes a special effect already around 3 or 4; over 6, you're producing sci-fi video-game sound effects. You will not get screaming metal distortions out of this amp - it was not intended for that kind of sound. What you can get are good, thick, liquid overdrive tones for anything blues, classic rock and grunge can throw at you. It's small and portable, but it will hold its own at a rehearsal; I will use it for small gigs, too, only connected to the PA, because it's versatile and sounds great, and, given its size and the price, so close to a tube amp that it makes no difference. Is it fully convincing and tube-like sounding? No, but given how kind it is to a working stiff's back and wallet, I can live with the difference only guitarists would notice anyway.Bottom line: this is a small amp anyone should have in his collection.

This amp does clean and crunch pretty well. I felt it had tube-like sound for a 35w 10in solid state. I was very disappointed with the lead tone. When you turn up the overdrive, it cranks harder and the tone gets bigger until you max it out, it loses tone and acts like it shifts to different circuitry, and the sound is cardboard-esque without sufficient gain, low end, or high end clarity to suit my hard-rock/metal needs.

I could have put up with the tone had I not experienced immediate quality issues. The power cord does not plug in snugly, and the gentlest nudge will cut power to the amp. One 4-5 occasions while playing, I would turn up the FX level and no effects would come through the amp.

What I wanted was a small simple practice amp that had some character and a few FX. If classic rock is as much gain as you need, this amp will get you there. Beyond that gain level, or if you want quality build, I'd steer clear. It's a shame, but without a more natural gain progression, solid components, fx that function properly and a nice speaker, this amp just doesn't do it.

A jazz amp? Definitely!

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I had to sell my Roland JC120, the world's cleanest amp - at my ripe old age, the 61# were making it difficult to get to rehersals/gigs. I play jazz/swing & needed an amp that would produce the warm, clean sounds I require. After some awful experiences with Fender Blues Jr.'s (had to return 2), I decided to check this baby out - what a pleasant surprise! I realize the difference in the tube "warmth" vs. the solid state, but I found I was able to dial up what I needed through the Crush 35DLX - very warm, very clean tones, played on my 1991 Gibson ES-165. Reverb settings, especially the "room" setting is great. Chorus is not the lush Roland sound, but suits me fine. An interesting point - there are so many solid state amps that offer "modeling", which I have no need for. The Crush has an overdrive channel and that's it. Trust me, if I'm going to wail some blues riffs, the overdrive produces excellent punch, sounds terrific with my Tele.At 25#, this amp is perfect for this old guy. Highly recommended by this 45+ yr. guitarist who's played through every amp under the sun. Oh yeah, price wise - an EXCELLENT VALUE! Big "thumbs up" to Orange on this product.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I think you would be happy with this amp. Classic tone and well built. This baby is a work-horse.
This thing has everything you need in a small gigging amp. Tuner for quick checks between songs. Different effects to add to the sound. And of course, the Orange sound.
I actually held off rating this amp for a few weeks to see how it did at my church where I use it during worship. It has met my expectations and everyone in our worship group loved the sound and the famous orange color. It is great for the small hall at my church and for around home. This is not my first Orange amp and will not be my last.
Orange has been around for a long time and have a good history. For me they are perfect for classic rock and blues which are my favorite styles, but I can also get that hard crunch for the loud stuff.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is my 3rd CR35 purchase. We use these amps for a church band and for practice for our rock band. This amp is a great value for an Orange. It has features such as a tuner and built in effects. Both are handy when you don't want to lug around a pedal board. If you're a beginner guitarist this is a fantastic amp to own. Great sound for a crate amp and easy to set up and use. If you're a vet guitar player this is a great practice amp due to it's size and weight. Don't let the 35 watts make you think weak. It's got plenty of power for it's size. One of the most powerfull 35 watt amps I've played. Orange does it right when they do amps.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Great little amp to add to my rig and studio. Great amp for the price. Someday I'll get a tube Orange amp but until then this will do.
Love the basic features of the CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo. Don't care too much for the modeling part. I just put on a basic reverb and it sounded great. Great tone! Good breakup on the gain. A bit more for rockers, if you want warm clean tone try a different amp. It's also pretty loud. I'm use to tube amps so I was afraid it wasn't going to compare, but it kept up with my '72 Super Reverb just fine. It would probably have to be miked at a gig, but I'm good with that.
Seems pretty sturdy and well made. No problems with mine as of yet. I had it pretty loud and the speaker worked great. Played well with both single coil and humbucker pickups. My SG sounded great thru it.
If you're like me and can't afford a tube Orange Amp this is the way to go. It's got great tone and crunch and is pretty loud for only 35 watts.

35 Watt Crush with Different Speaker

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Bought it for practice. (I use a Mesa Boogie for performing) Was dissapointed, as the first time with the band I blew the speaker. Was only on about 50%. They did an exchange, and a I pretty much forgot about it. Last night I wired the Orange to my Mesa single 12", 8 ohm speaker. WOW...what a difference! The little Orange is a different amp. Louder with more balls. The stock speaker is the weak link. Am going to buy a single 12" cabinet now.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a great looking amp, I like the built-in tuner, and the on-board effects seem to work ok, but for me the sound is very disappointing. The clean channel is adequate but nothing special, it is average at best. Then, I tried the overdrive and that's when it gets really weird. With the volume on about 3, I started cranking up the overdrive control knob. By the time I got to about 5 or 6, it was pushing so hard it sounded like the speaker was going to explode. That should never happen with the volume only on 3, so I was baffled. Then, when I cranked the overdrive up to 9 or 10, it suddenly changed dramatically, and was not nearly as loud as it was on 5 or 6 (the volume remained on 3 the whole time). If you play around with it, it does have a "sweet spot" or two that sounds alright, but the rest of the time it's pretty lousy. The clarity is poor especially on the highs, and the lows are very weak compared to what I am used to.

I have a 30w non-tube Marshall (similar price as this Orange) That I bought new about 15 years ago, and it blows this thing away. I'm going to return this one and when I buy again, Marshall is gonna be the choice for sure.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

I was looking for a good second practice amp to go with my Vox AD30VT, which I love. I have always been a huge Orange fan and have played through half-stacks on occasion, although not my own. After playing through a Class A Orange, I became an immediate fan of the amp and so with no real need to spend a ton on a 2x12 Rockverb, which is a killer amp, I relegated my Orange dreams to the lottery winner pile. So when looking for another practice amp, I went right to an Orange Crush to check it out. So put my Orange bias aside and here is what I think. The controls are easy to use and very responsive to even small adjustments which is impressive for a practice amp. The internal effects are of decent quality, not as good as my Vox, but close (better than a Line 6 or Fender). The lack of any type of tube pre-amp is a bit of a turn off like the Vox, but for a solid state amp its got beyond decent tone. The internal tuner is a real plus and I use it all the time. Let's be real there is a real difference in tone between a 10" and 12" speaker and so you have to just understand that when looking at practice amps with 10" speakers, but if you look at it in the context of practice and close miking for a home studio, it is fine. The Crush seems to have more power than its speaker can handle, but its too soon to see if that is going to be a problem long term. Tonally at higher volumes the Crush seems unbalanced with its power to speaker ratio and so I use other amps for higher volume playing. Basically this is a real good solid state practice amp at a good price if you understand what you are buying it and using it for. Its also an Orange which gets high marks in my book for just being cool to all of us who love Orange amps and at least want to own a piece of the legend, even though these are made in Korea and the big bad ones are still made in the UK. All in all a good solid state practice amp with some cool features and above average tone.

Great practice amp and home studio musician. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

If you are looking for a great sounding practice amp with more than average features, or in need of an affordable quality tone solution in a home studio set-up this is a good way to go. I swear by Orange, their production line amps are just that good.
This little amp is the complete package for your amplification needs and a little extra.

The amp build is quite solid and it has all the looks and feel of the orange line. Loaded with everything you need to just jam out at practice and gig worthy of small - medium size venues.
1/8 Aux in, Line out, Footswitch input for overdrive, Overdrive channel input, headphone out and input for instrument, obviously, you cant ask for more than what this baby offers.

Boasting the tone contol of a much pricier amp, you have control of Lows, Mids, Highs, Volume, Overdrive, and Gain. The onboard effects make it much more fun to experiment with if you are looking for some modulation or time-based effects (i.e. Reverb, Flanger, Chorus, Vibrato). It is also light enough to carry anywhere, and small enough to fit into the backseat floorboard of a small car.
To quote another reviewer "When Orange does amps they do it right."

The build and sound quality of this amp is absolutely irresistable for the price.
Made of solid wood, NOT PARTICLEBOARD, optional orange or black tolex, and signature woven grille speaker cover, it has the impressive asthetic appeal of the orange amplifier line.

Sound quality is suprisingly sweet for a solid-state amp. Add a little reverb, dialed in at the first knotch and it creates a sparkle reminiscent of the small Class A valve amps at similar prices (vox ac4 with less boxiness, marshall class 5 etc). I have the AC4 and Class 5 and I can say IMO that this amp is a worthy contender to them and a welcome addition to any home studio guitar arsenal.
At this price this amp is next to unbeatable! Nothing else needs to be said.

After that they seem to over drive.I use a T REX Booster pedal from MF.and a MOD TONE DISTORTION pedal also from MF.Great combination. On stage I set it about 12 inches off the floor. Loud and clear and super clean.I liked the ORANGE CRUSH LDX35 so well I bouht 3 more for back ups and put 12" speakers in them also. I also play my acoustic thru it.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This is a great amp and you get a whole lot of Orange for your money. I am playing it with my two strats that are outfitted with the Custmo shop '69 pickups and with this amp it sounds dangerously close to hearing your guitar right off the vinyl. The gain and distortion on this thing is a subtle not over the top crunch that adds some dirty to your sound without over doing it. The on board tuner is really handy to have, and the effects are rockin' ! I usually use the number 1 preset and turn up the effect volume to give it that little reverb you need to make it sound like a tube amp. I do love the speaker, just thought it was a 12" but it does pump a lot of power for a really portable 10" The line out is a great feature because it allows me to run through the main mix and still be able to hear after the gig. I use it for practice and it cuts through our loud sax player and blends in really well.

This amp has such a great sound that if you set the EQ right (on a strat) all you have to do is change up the pickup settings to get a wide range of great lead and rhythm sound. The only downside I see to this great bargain is when you have the tuner on it doesnt cut out the guitar. This is an easy fix by lowering your guitar volume to 2 or 3 where the amp will pick it up but your audience won't hear you tuning. I highly recommend this amp to anyone that likes the vintage sound and doesnt want to risk hauling around a fragile tube amp. You get an amazing product.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

Im very happy I bought this amp. Its my first step into Orange and I see my buying one of their Rockeverb combos or half stacks very soon after I get home. Very impressed.
I am currently on a deployment to Afghanistan and I have been looking for a good quality, not overly expensive, and good sounding amp. One that is small enough to get home safely as well as tuck away in my Chu when im not using it. I also needed an amp that could deal with changing temperatures and extreme amounts of dirt and dust, even if it never leaves the room the dust will still get in. I chose this amp because of price and the Orange name as well as the features/size.
In my opinion this is a great amp. It is what it is. If your expecting too much out of anything then you will never be satisfied with anything. The sounds it puts out a full and crisp. My old timer room mate even says it has a very nice vintage tone he remembers his dad playing. I feel like I can get any sound I need and the effects are pretty good. The Build feels solid and the old fashion grill is incredible. The amp is really an eye catcher! Once I get home I still plan on getting one of the Orange tube amps, but for a little practice amp in such a small place this is hard to beat.
For the money, this amp would be very hard to beat. You get a beautiful well built very good sounding amp.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

THis Orange is very nice. very versitile tone. can go from super clean to chunky metal. effects are a bonus and work great. every knob on this works and i mean when you turn them from 1 to 10 the sound changes dramaticly. this actually has gain and overdrive knob and you can mixnmatch. you can hear the overdive sound change as you turn it up, wish it came with the Orange overdive pedal.
only gripe is aux input signal gets distorted through the effects and overdive settings, but works great as a loudspeaker setup clean.

Headphone jack and built tuner are convenient for practicing
If you use this for what its meant you'll be very pleased. not gonna melt faces off by any means but it rattles my windows on 4

You Must get a emminence Rajin Cajun 10" speaker (made in USA) and replace the stock one for AWESOMENESS. Stock one is WEAK.
              Nicefeatures- tuner, few effects.
case and amplifier are good. Speaker is junk
              Pretty good.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Crush PiX Series CR35LDX 35W 1x10 Guitar Combo Amp:

This amp has it's own voice, and that makes it unique among solid state amps, most of which are trying to simulate things they aren't. Good tube amps have thier own voice. But they all sound different. Rather than try to emulate any of them, it seems like Orange charted a unique course with this amp. And they came up with a great recipe. Here are a couple of clarifications, though: some reviews reference a wood cabinet. It's particle board (to be expected at this price). And it has a 10" speaker, not a 12" (though it would be possible to retrofit a 12"). Also the effects are usable, but I'd gladly trade them all for a decent spring reverb. Despite these details, it's a good SS amp at a very good price. And of course the looks nudge it to the top of the list.
