OVERVIEW

Huge sound out of a microscopic package.

Get the PPC 1x8 Cabinet to make a tidy little 1/2 or full stack. It looks cute and cuddley.... until you plug it in. Suddenly your face starts to get a little hot, but not unbearable.

Unplug from the 1x8 and plug it into a 1x12 or 2x12 cabinet then take this bad boy to rehearse with your band. Sure, they'll make fun of you for the 4 seconds it takes to turn it on and play the first chord. Your face will heat up a little more, and then your ears begin feeling a little damp. Then you think to yourself, "Wait a minute, this really sounds much better. Did I accidentally leave my 50 watt head plugged in?"

Now you're at the gig. You brought your 4x12 cabinet. But wait, this won't power a 4x12 cab, will it? Yes it will. Like crazy. The guys in your band know better than to tease the Micro Terror. Now it's time to prove it to the rest of the world. Trust me, they'll all be able to hear it. The bottom end response is killer, the gain is sick and the volume is crushing. Now your face is melting and your ears are bleeding, but you can't stop smiling!

The EQ seems to be active in the sense that 12 o'clock is flat. When you turn it up, the highs get boosted and the lows get cut at the same time.

This will fit in your gigbag or gear box... or your mouth.

Buy it and love it.

After writing a review here I returned the little amp. It is just to much a one trick pony. Even with the up graded tube. It would be a fine amp for bedroom distortion practice. Metal players and teens. For anything else it has no musical value. I decided to put the money to better use than for something that would be sitting on a shelf unused.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

I decided to go with the Micro Terror because of the price and because it was a brand I've never played before. I plugged this into my MA412 cabinet loaded with Eminence speakers and MY LAWD after tweaking the settings to my liking, I got that nice vintage British crunch you'd get from the old Marshalls. I use my RP500 as my effects for distortion and the simulated tube screamer gives me a KILLER bluesy crunch. It blows my MA100H out of the water and runs circles around it. Who ever thought a little lunch box could produce such gorgeous crunch and cleans? If you're a bluesy/classic rock guitar man like myself, you have to pick one up. You will not be disappointed.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this as a back up for a larger combo. It the power from this thing is amazing. You can definitely push a 412 cab. I use is with a 212 cab with a Celestion Vintage 30 and Avatar Hellatone 60. It pushes this cab hard... The tone is not what most people look for but if you're a pedal nerd like me, there will be no issues. Well worth the money for a fun amp....

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

Was in the local music store and saw this little guy in the corner. Giggled at it because it was pretty cute. Looked at some bigger heads and cabs but they were a little out of my budget. Asked the salesman if he ever heard this one power a 4x12 cabinet. We both laughed and he said no, but he'd like to. Plugged it into a 90 watt cabinet loaded with Celestions. Needless to say, the laughter stopped. now I play and laugh for a different reason. My little "Clementine" is so much fun.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

This amp is perfect for throwing it into a gig bag and driving on the road to play at a friends house (providing he has a speaker). The crunch and gain sound great, but don't expect a perfect clean sound; that's not the right application for this amp. It's loud and has excellent control of the gain feature. If you want an amp that's easy to pick-up and take on the road "just-in-case" you get an opportunity to play, then this is your amp.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

So I show up at rehearsal with this tiny little box. The other guitar player asks me "What did you buy now?" "My new amp." He laughs. Then I plugged it in and hit my first power chord. He was amazed at the sound coming from this tiny little box. I play through a 1x12 cabinet loaded with a Patriot Texas Heat speaker.
I actually bought this for a practice amp so I wouldn't have to keep setting up my regular head at home and haul it to rehearsals. But when I got it and listened to it I knew I had to take it to practice and give it a try. It more than held its own with full volume rehearsal. I used it with my Fender reverb pedal and a Dunlop volume pedal to make it easier to roll back on the volume for cleaner sounds since it is only a one channel amp. This amp did great. Now truth be told no, it will not be replacing my Hughe and Kettner as my main gigging amp, but yes it can be used for a gig in a small to medium venue. I will be carrying it with me to all gigs just in case something happens to my main amp. It's small enough for that.
I have also tried JJs 12ax7 and Tung Sol 12ax7 gold tubes in it. The Tung Sol tube gave it a huge volume boost. Almost too much. I put the JJ tube back in when I took it to rehearsal.
So, I am very pleased and impressed with this purchase.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

I bought one of these at first to serve as a lead head while running my 65 princeton as the clean side. It wasn't long til I figured out it was an awesome little amp capable of small gigs like the restaurants and small venues I play all by itself! I just bought a second spkr today (the recommended 8" Orange ) so now its a stack! I cant wait to try it tonight. Just a few peddles and this little fellow cranks out some excellent Rockabilly tone with my Gretsch Nashville and spanky country twang with my ASAT I just set the head cleanish and use a TS-9 and a compressor sustainer.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this more as a novelty than any other reason. But boy, was I surprised with the volume & distortion this little box pumps out. I like it just fine as is but prefer a Boss Metal Zone along with it. I can run it through a single 12" cabinet or a 4 X 12 which really gets things going. Very well built but my only concern is that the unit is very light (which was expected) so I might have to anchor it down somehow.
            Nice work Orange!

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Micro Terror MT20 20W Hybrid Guitar Amp Head:

I bought this with a ppc108 cabinet - as my review for that cab says, I was very surprised how good and powerful they are together. I thought I would eventually get a larger cabinet for it, but i would only need to if using it for a live performance with a full band. (might be able to get away with ppc108 with a quiet drummer...) For just playing by myself or jamming with other guitar/bass players it is more than enough. This amp can get you great classic rock tone - but I play all styles of music and generally more jazz and hard rock sometimes into the metal range - and this sounds great for that as well. For full on metal you might want to add your favorite distortion pedal but the tube overdrive of the amp itself sounds fantastic! I haven't tried myself but this thing can drive a 4X12 cabinet pretty well according to videos that I've seen. It really sounds like a slightly scaled back version of a full amp head. for the price you will not be disappointed. You could definitely use this for amateur recording - probably professional recording as well but by then you've probably got a bigger amp. Any one who wants a tube amp to mess around with but doesn't have a lot of money to throw around should check this out - or if you just want something very portable. Note that this is a hybrid, it has solid state power and one tube for the preamp, but don't be afraid, it sounds great! It's louder than you might expect and although with the ppc108 it dosen't have extreme low end, it still has good low tones when used with six string guitars in standard as well as C tuning and I have used it with an 8 string guitar, which flops a little on the low string but with a larger cabinet would probably be fine. I highly recommend this amazing tiny amp. Watch some youtube videos if you aren't convinced. For portability the ppc108 cabinet works very well with this and still sounds very nice, but again you can power larger cabinets including 4X12.

I bought this amp because I need something small to travel with. Boy was I suprized when I first plugged it. It sounds like a A Orange Tiny Terror! I thought it was going to be another "gimmick" amp, but I love it. The single tube preamp gives it a classic drive tone while the solid state power amp gives it the power to run a 4X12 cab! The only let down is that it has a single multi-bandwidth tone control rather then individual bass, middle and treble, but who can really complain at this price?
