Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

The Orange Tiny Terror is useful, and has a classic Orange circuit. Out of the box mine was too hot and trebly for my style, which is more R&B, jazz, and what I think Zappa would find okay.

The change was simple. First, lose any speakers that break up at low volume (Celestion), and replace the preamp tubes with a JAN Phillips ECG 5751 and similar 12AT7. That's it! Now my TT has plenty of clean headroom and an overall darker sound, and the Tone control actually functions nominally.

This amp sounds great with the different speaker and tubes. It's now plenty loud clean to keep up with the average band. With a pair of Weber Legacy 12L's it is huge.

I understand the manufacturer must control cost; this circuit is well worth aftermarket (and different) tubes. I'm not kidding. These changes transform the stock amp into a thing of wonder.

Tiny Terror!!

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

I picked this amp up from a guitar shop in dallas about two monthes ago. I wasn't really looking for an amp, but when I saw this guy in mint condition for only $300 I had to have it! Since then, I have used this multiple times a week both in practice and in a live setting. As simple as the settings are (Volume, Tone, and Gain), you can get a suprisingly wide varity of amazing sounds out of this amp. By turning the gain to about 40% and the volume to 100%, you get a perfert clean sound. Turning the gain past that causes this amp to SCREAM with classic british tone! This amp is meant to Rock! I baught this amp to replace the VOX ac15 that I was using before due to the Tiny Terror's portability and in my opinion, better tone. Although the ac15 is agreat amp, this is definitely an upgrade. I play through a 4x12 cab with Vintage 30s, but from personal experience I know it also sounds great through Greenbacks and Celestian Blues too. I play mostly with a clean setting and use lots of effects and overdrive pedals. I never knew my tubescreamer could sound so good! The natural overdrive on this amp sound amazing too by the way! Overall, I love this amp and am completly satisfied with it.
This amp is meant to be simple, if you don't like that, don't get it. For what it is, it does more then what is expected. The only thing I wish was better about this amp was clean volume. This amp is unbelievably loud when you crank the gain up, but on the clean setting I think it could be a little bit louder. If you mic the amp like I do It's not too much of a problem, but it's still a little disipointing that it doesn't get as loud as the AC15 does on clean, because I think this amp sounds way better. There have been times when my sound guy has told my to turn the amp up and I had to tell them it was as loud as it could go before it would start breaking up. It's funny, because it really is more than loud enough. That was their fault for not turning the gain on the mic up enough. Again, anything past 40% on the gain and the amp is ridicously loud!
The quality is unmatched. This thing is solid as a rock!
This amp is worth way more than the $300 I payed for it, thats for sure. If you pay $550 or $600 for this amp, you wont regret it.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

This is one amazing amp that sounds absolutely fantastic. I assumed that the three knobs would severely limit the amount of sounds you'd be able to achieve, but boy was I wrong. I play classic rock, 90's rock, and modern hard rock. The Tiny Terror knocks all of those genre's out of the park! Everything from Led Zeppelin to Tool and Red Hot Chili Peppers to Rage Against the Machine is packed in this little monster.

The TT is only a single channel amp, but the tone is so lush and touch sensitive that it's almost like having two individual channels in one. Roll back the volume on your guitar and the amp cleans right up. Or set the gain a little lower and use a boost pedal to bring in a wall of sound. Either way works perfectly. Also, I've never played an amp that reacts to the amount of string attack the way the TT does. Strum light and the sound is gentle. Strum hard and the TT screams!

I use a Boss DD7 delay, a Jerry Cantrell wah, a MXR micro amp gain booster, and an Ernie Ball VP jr pedal. All work extremely well and come through the mix clearly. An FX loop would have been nice but it isn't missed too badly.

The 15/7 watt switch is a wonderful addition. At 15 watts the amp has a little more headroom and about a 20dB volume increase than the 7 watt setting. But 7 watts is perfect for home use and still sounds fantastic.

I simply cannot stress how great this amp is. I have it paired with an Orange PPC112 with a Vintage 30 and I couldn't be happier. Buy it now! You won't regret it.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

I have read some reviews for this amp and it always amuses me when people comment on the limited EQ. It's pretty obvious, looking at the front panel that it has volume, tone and gain, if you want every tone in the book, buy a digital modeling amp. Duh! Now me, I have 10 amps, Fender, Marshal, Vox and I love them all, but they are not interchangeable. Just as all four of my Fenders sound Fenderie, each is different, so too is the Orange. I find that the Tiny Terror has a lot of tone options for a single tone control . The tone sounds different at 15 watts than at 7 watts, also the tone control reacts differently as you vary the volume and gain controls. I play it through an Orange PPC112 for an edgier tone, and then through a Marshall 4x12 with greenbacks, for a thicker fatter tone. It is certainly not a "one trick pony". Just remember, it is what it is, and what it is, is a great little amp, so embrace it and let it shine...you'll be a better player for it.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

A simple but powerful amp. As good as you've heard about and more. I can't imagine anyone being disappointed with its performance, This is as high as I can rate an amp with no reverb, but it is one strong, solid "9" rating. A winner among other great ones in the Orange lineup.
A bit disappointing that it only has 3 knobs. I would like more tone control, but it is a mighty good amp in spite of its simplicity. Hey, it does what it says it does; and it sure does it well. I can forgive the all-in-one tone knob, but it really does need a reverb. I gotta have a touch of verb, so that means a pedal in between. Oh, well.
I've had it a couple of years and it just keeps on doing its thing. I don't use it gigging out but I am certain that it could hold up well. Seems well built. Everything works, all the time, no strange delays or noises. No problems at all, so gotta give it the highest marks on this one. The crunch tones are there in spades & will be adored by all players. The cleans are clean but lack just a touch of warmth. I can find a sweet spot, but it isn't as sweet as my Fender tube cleans that have spoiled me over the years.
Even without reverb it ia simply everything it is advertised to be, and the price is darn reasonable. I also have a Mesa Transatlantic 15 head, which costs quite a bit more. It has more switches and knobs and is a great amp, too - but dollar for dollar the OTT is at least as good a value.

Made my telecaster scream, cry and laugh

By Ronald Surabian

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

This is now my main amp, I only play at home, no gigs, great sound at lower volumes. My Fender Blues Deluxe now sits alone with it's cover on.
I played my guitar teachers Tiny Terror when we did a 12 bar blues jam and knew right away I had to have this amp. At low volumes the tubes break up and my solo's never sounded so good. I have a Fender Blues Deluxe reissue and at 40 watts, it's just way too much for practice in my house, i never get the volume over 2. So, if you want a really cool amp for practicing you should check this one out, it probably has that sound you have been looking for. (I also purchased the matching Orange cabinet)
It has a nice carry case and a place to store the cord. No issues.
Bought it on sale with an additonal 15% off and free shipping. Kind of pricey but you can't beat the sound.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

This is a sweet little head. The thing screams with my buddy's JVM marshall 100W. Tone is better but you can't dial in clean tones, it has a bit of crunch to it at low gain. The thing has no balls until you get the gain up to about 4 and a half. I want to get new tubes as it did not pop like I expected it to, but normally the stock tubes suck. This is my second class A tube amp. I also have a VHT special 6 head and that thing sounds like an earthquake compared to the TT. Ran side by side thru the same 212 cabinet and TT has better tone but the 6 watt VHT crushes the TT with its warm wave of sound. Maybe thats because it had fresh EHX tubes installed. TinyTerror is way punchier though and has way better tone. Attack responce is immpeccable. I can't wait to put them both thru my 212 stereo ext cab.

I use The Tinny Terror with an ORANGE closed back cab with a 12 inch Clestion speaker. I wish I would have found this combo 10 yrs. ago! I have been playing and recording music for 30 yrs. It is everything I have ever wanted in an amp. I have owned Marshall's, Blackstars, and Vox amps. All were good solid amps, however none of them sound as good as this combination ! Will use ORANGE amps from now on ! It is an AMAZING amp !

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

Simply amazing amp, I picked mine up a couple years ago and the only amp I'd want instaed of it would be an AD-30, but that costs a lot more than $600, or $550, which is what i paid for it. Turn down the gain and you get real nice clean sounds, I mean really nice clean sounds! TUrn up the gain and you got one hard rockin machine. Or do what I do and leave it somewhere in the middle and you can get the best of both worlds with just the turn of your guitar's volume knob.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

I bought my TT in late 2007 and I've done literally hundreds of gigs and sessions with it. Everything about it works for me. Portability, build quality and most importantly SOUND. Speaking of which, there's no denying that when it comes to crunch and full blown distortion this little bugger ROCKs but people, this thing oozes tone CLEAN too. I've used this head on tons of Jazz gigs and just love the tones I'm able to achieve. A note to those worried about gigging this amp. At 15 watts you're not gonna get too much clean headroom but miked through a PA, who cares! Soundmen love me. They get to control the overall mix instead of competing with a overly loud guitarist. A little thought in terms of where you set your cab or a bit of guitar signal in your monitor is all that is required. If high gain is your bag you should have no problem keeping up with all but the most undynamic of drummers. A note for anyone scared off by the simple control layout. I too was a little worried about this at first but I'm completely sold on it. I'm able to quickly dial in the tone I want, without fussing and it's easily repeatable. Overall, my TT purchase was one of the very best I've made in 28 years of playing.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

This is hands down the best amp for your money. I've sang in a couple of bands professionally, but I've also played guitar since I was 13, though I never got to actually play in a band. Well, now that I'm older, I work for a marketing agency that is offering a live karaoke band as a service, and we didn't have a rhythm guitar player, and my boss ultimately assumed it would be cheaper to just have me do it (What luck) so I was in the market for a new rig. I tried to be cost efficient and bought an orange 112 and paired it up with the Tiny Terror. This thing is LOUD, I brought it to practice and didn't even have the volume half way, and it stood out in the mix. It is 100% pure orange tone. Yeah, there's limited functions, but that's what pedals are for. This things is just bare knuckle tube driven awesomeness. This is the best bang for your buck.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

Play in a band that does 3 different decades of music. 70's, 80's, and 90's. This amplifier is able to handle each and every genre beautifully. Excellent cleans and thick, heavy distortion. Cuts through the mix with no problem and easily heard over a loud drummer or heavy bass lines. Can dial up the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again" to Van Halen's "Light Up the Sky", "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love" and any Alice In Chains, Sound Garden heavy tone. It just does it all and it is very simple to find sounds. There is absolutely nothing harsh or tinny about this amp. It can scream as well as sing and it's heavy distortion is still very musical and you can differentiate the notes when using heavy gain. Amazing cleans just by rolling back the volume knob.

        The Best Mini-Head

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

Simplicity rules with this amp, and in this case, simplicity is near-perfection. I've played several of the mini-head amps that have come out recently: for example, Vox's Night Train and Mesa-Boogie's litte guy that turns blue. The beauty of the Tiny Terror, in comparison, is my favorite because within the simple three knobs there is a world of sound. Rotating the gain down (10 o'clock) and the volume up gets you a great clean sound that has just a hint of breakup. It reminded me of my Fender Deluxe Reveb '65 reissue, but with a little less brightness. Rotating the gain to about 2 o'clock gave the amp an early Marshall, Fender Bassman growl. I lowered the tone down to 11 o'clock and felt like I was in blues heaven. Finally, to my surprise, that in addition to the cleaner sound and the crunch, I found a super overdrive by maxing the gain. I've never owned an amp that does all three areas like this, and really well to boot. Usually there's a sacrifice somewhere in there. Now, for sure, the clean sound for this amp will have a limited volume for some applications, but that's the nature, and even beauty, of smaller wattage amps.

This amp is amazing. It may only have 3 knobs, but you can get a huge variety of sounds. When its driven, you can play everything from punk to metal. You can get decent clean tones out of it as well. I tried other low wattage tube amps that everybody seems to be coming out with these days, but the Orange Tiny Terror blew them all away by far. You will not be disappointed with this amp.

Comments about Orange Amplifiers Tiny Terror Series TT15 15W Tube Mini Amp Head:

For a while Orange has had some really expensive 3-knob amps. It's nice that this one is priced within reach. I played it through a 1 X 12 cab with no pedals using an Epiphone hollowbody. It has one of the best preamp overdrive sounds I have ever heard. It's chimey, saturated and just a great sound for pop punk and similar styles. The controls are limited but responsive. My gripe is the lack of an even tolerable clean sound. It's just awful. Part of it is that I'm a Fender Clean kind of guy. But it just wasn't even a Vox EL84 clean. It was just flat and tinny. I gave it higher marks because part of this is subjective. But to me it's just an expensive distortion pedal, and that's not worth it. It's a step in the right direction. I'd love to play the Dual Terror.

If you want some thick British crunch and power tube saturation, this is the amp for you. It's a darker amp with a huge midrange, but it keeps the identity of your guitar and responds beautifully to your volume knob. With the gain set low, you get a warm clean tone. Gain set halfway has some responsive and classic crunch. Gain cranked, and you get that classic huge Orange sound with a slight hint of fuzzbox. At 15 watts through a larger cabinet, you can gig small clubs. Anywhere too big you'll usually be mic'ed anyway. 3 knobs is all you really need to sound incredible. I was blown away.

About as much dynamite in a small package as you'll ever see [or hear]. Awesome clean and lotsa crunch. This thing will deliver like the big boys. I would prefer the usual Lo Mid & Hi knobs & reverb in order to work the tone. It is a lot of tone for the money and knock-your-hat-off volume. The 15W / 7W switch makes this jewel even more valuable for studio use. Another fantastic feature is its portability. Well worth the money, and I'd pay a little more for some 'verb.
