I've owned Marshalls, Fenders, Hughes & Kettners, Peaveys, and currently have a Line6. In my quest for a good tube amp for not a ton of cash, I ran across one of these. I was completely impressed with the clean tones, amazing overdrive, and power of this amp. It is VERY flexible. I use it every week live, and it simply sounds amazing! Now, an important distinction is that mine is one of the Made in the USA models. The current production is in Viet Nam. Not sure about the differences in components, but after playing through a new one, there is a bit of a difference...just not a big difference.Someone mentioned tube rattle in these amps. Mine was not exempt from this problem. After closer inspection, I found that there were covers on the preamp tubes. Took them off and reinstalled them, and no more rattle.Absolutely killer amp. This amp does deliver tone that can be compared to some of the boutique amps I've played through. It still carries the stigma of the Crate badge, rightly or wrongly, although the name Crate does not appear on the amp. When dialed in to a fairly loud level, and with the overdrive cranked, you'll feel like Billy Gibbons, Jimmy Page, or any artist that has that trademark crispy, buttery sounding OD tone.I have not seen anyone mention this in a review, and I think it's important. I had two specimens of this amp, and both of them exhibited an extremely annoying tube rattle. In addition, I could not dial out the mushy low-end overtones that some might call "Class A ghost" tones. I suspect that the heat shield might have been picking up vibrations and transferring it to the chassis, where it rattled the tubes, producing microphonic noise. I never bothered removing the shield, which would be easy enough. It's there to protect the user from burns, not to protect the amp components. Here's why I returned the second amp and chose something else:1) The boost is too over the top. It has no variable control.2) The amp has a pronounced low-end. Too low for my tastes. I have a bass player to take care of the low end.3) The aforementioned tube rattle.4) My personal desire is to use this amp both in my band and at home. Because it needs to be cranked, I was not getting satisfaction in the house. In the band though, it rocked.

    Great amp for the money

    By danielj

    from L.A.

This is the best value for a tube amp. A-Class! Loud 30 watt.Tone is rich, but changing the tubes and upgrading the speakers to greenbacks improves it all around, amazing, closer to a VOX. But, still distinct. Use it to sculpt your sound. Even putting in a few hundred will still put you way under the price of a Vox AC30. I paid $450 out the door. Upgrading the reverb would be better as well. That is creating an ideal combo amp, though. Out of the box, it is still great. Thick sounding, highly recommended for hard rock type stuff or blues. When you play live, tube is what you need to cut through, this does not disappoint.

    So Warm... So Happy...

    By TimBug2

    from Rosemount, MN

I researched for over a year and never looked at Crate. Then I stumbled upon a Palomino forum and was intrigued so I forcibly quelled all the bad feelings associated with Crate and searched out a Palomino V32 112 Combo. I got it, played through it with my '89 JS1000, '76 Strat, Seagull Le Patrie 'Etude Classical and have regained my love of playing clean and mildly gritty guitar. It is so rich sounding with a mellow smooth distortion that has gain to spare. I tried a Digitech Valve FX through the line in/lineout and it worked perfectly with delay and reverb behind the distortion of the amp. It is very loud and can be a bit difficult to get bedroom levels. A re-tube is probably in order (to lower the noise-floor) but I could get by without it. This is a beautifully voiced amp with great classy looks and since I bought it I have struggled at prioritizing its importance in my life. I understand that the V3112 is the same amp in a new skin but I like the skin mine is in.

    Big thumbs up

Versatile combo. Both clean and overdrive channels sound rich and great. Excellent price-to-quality ratio. If you play pop/rock/blues/indie/etc. styles, I highly recommend it.

    This thing smokes!

    By GuitarMech111

This amp is very versatile. I have used it for my XTLive and variax setup as well as straight guitar only when playing out.It has some very warm clean tone and it can get outright nasty. The footswitch adds a lot of versatility to the amp.I paid more than this sale price, but worth every penny!

    Palomino V32 amp

    By Krusher-V6twH

    from Toled, Ohio

I tried all the small tube amp combo's ,Fender ,Boogie, DR. Z, Rivera... I never considered a crate, but the tone sold me! The clean is so pure and rich, but if you Turn it up it gets a great blues sound. The distortion is great for classic rock, but not metal. The reverb is good but not great, the FX loop is a nice feature. This amp is real loud 30 watts of tube power is plenty for me. One of the best looking amps also!

    Great Affordable Class A

    By Southwinds Worship

    from California

I have owned this amp for a little more than a month and am so pleased with my purchase. It sounds wonderful. The clean channel is great with my Highway 1 strat. The overdirve channel is punchy and warm. I also use a Route 66 Distortion petal with it and it too sounds great. The guys in my band can't believe how great this inexpensive amp sounds. I have played Accoustic for a long time and figured it was time I learn to play Elecric. I have tried and tried to get good tone using, POD XT live, Flextone, Fender classic and just couldn't do it. This amp has really helped me to find what I was looking for. Additionally, this is a great amp for worship. Plenty of sound for the stage and mics nicely. I absolutely recommend this amp.

Quality control aside, a great amp!

    By Anonymous

    from Undisclosed

Believe the hype. It doesn't sound QUITE as good as a comparable Fender, Mesa Boogie, Vox, etc, but it also isn't NEARLY as expensive. If you are looking for a fantastic low-budget tube combo, this is the amp for you. It has a very versatile sweet spot. However, the one that I got has developed a nasty sympathetic buzz, and I'm having to send it back to get a new one. I would like to criticize Crate for poor quality control, but that costs money, and this is an affordable amp. Get it if you don't mind running the risk of having to return it for a new one. Minus 1 star for quality control; otherwise a 5-star amp.

    Awesome for Blues

    By Telemike

    from Greensboro, NC

Love the overdrive channel. It's creamy and perfect for blues and classic rock. The clean is nice and chimey, wish it had a more blackface tone but it is very good. Reverb is good but not Fendery and Surfy, it's a good ambience reverb rather than sproingy. Amp runs hot from the cathode biased EL84's and lack of ventilation. The Celestion 70/80 is nice. I really like this amp for the money and is a great looker too with cream tolex and gold panel.

Stop your search, this is a great amp

    By toneman-HY0mD

    from Jeffersonville, Indiana

Wow... This amp is the total package for just about any style of music. It's not a metal amp but pedals work great with it. I have been playing for 36 years and have had many many amps. This tone machine will hold its own with the high dollar amps and sound better than a lot of them. The last 3 months I have been trying out many diferent amps. "This gets expensive" However, I have settled on this little tone beast. Strats, LP, Carvin CT6M all sound great. It is not one that you have to spend a lot of time with getting the tone you want. Very straight forward amp!! No adjusting for hours to end up with a sound you are just ok with........you will get it quick with this pony. Not many bells and whistles but it diffently does the job without them. This is the only amp that you will actually turn the bass down. It has a celestion Palomino speaker that thumps. Sort a sounds like the AC30, has the chime and a loose bass that is great sounding. I generally have purchased 212 cabs but this little pony has more bass than them. Not USA made, but not much is anymore. If you are looking for a great amp at a fantastic price, you should buy this one.
