On the whole, you get what you pay for - an affordable, quality, no-frills practice amp. You won't be blowing any minds, but you won't be breaking the bank either. My major gripe is the lack of tone-shaping options, although the two channels it does have sound pretty good with a little tweaking. I'd recommend it to beginners playing a humbucking guitar looking to get some exciting sounds for a low price, or any musician who likes to have a few different-sounding amps kicking around the jamspace.
Next to no knobs to mess around with. Great if you're a beginner or a minimalist, frustrating if you're a tone junkie - you don't even get a chance to worry about the Mids with this amp, just Lows and Highs. It's nice to have Clean and Lead channels, but it sucks that there aren't separate knobs for Gain and Volume.
There is a slight background buzz while you are playing, but from my admittedly limited experience I think that has something to do with the tube-simulation circuitry, which may buzz a little but also creates a remarkably full and smooth sound in an amp size that would normally come across as flatulent or digital-sounding.
The Clean channel is nice and clear. The Lead channel has a lot of noise, similar to any high-gain amp, but it also can give some pretty wicked tones, whether you want shrill and shrieking to warm vocal-like sounds. I recommend using humbucking pickups, single-coil pickups (especially the cheap ones) hiss quite a bit!
The 4" speaker delivers a somewhat tinny response, but no worse than what you'd expect from something this small - I imagine it will sound better the more it is used, once the cone softens up. The headphone output sounds much better than the speaker, great for quiet practice or a direct-line recording setup.
Hands-down this is one of the better practice amps I've tried. One one hand, it's small, light, and sounds great. One the other, the unforgiving Lead channel means that you'll be quickly made aware of clumsy playing, and you should be able to improve your playing much faster! If you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket, this would be a fun amp to have kicking around for that certain sound, or when you just want to plug and play.

I gave this section a 3 only because the lead section does not have a gain control, or tonal shaping option. There is very useful high/low knobs that help you shape your tone, but it would be nice to have other knobs.
This amp is a solid build! Peavey makes great amps. I took the whole amp apart, tore the whole chassis out and the speaker. I now use the chassis acting as a normal amp head and I plug it up to the speaker (which you can change to a celestion for REALLY great tone) and it sounds great. The chassis looks like a processor or micro amp head now, which is sweet. I love modding combo amps into amp heads.
Great sound for the price!

Comments about Peavey Audition Electric Guitar Practice Amplifier:
I feel as though the value more than anything makes this amp worth it. While you can't expect great quality sound from the thing, what you do get is more than acceptable for the price. Like I said earlier, I really think that the amp is underpriced. It's perfect for what I use it for, which is dorm room practicing and travel.
The amp features only high, low, and volume knobs. Looking at my other four times the price amp, with ten different knobs to mess with, this is obviosuly a little lacking. However I'm at college now, so this is perfect just for practicing my music.
Peavy Amps are always high quality. The amp has already taken some beatings since I got it (about 2 weeks ago) and shows no signs of damage. The knobs stay at their intended levels and don't slip from vibration. The thing feels solid, and I intend to keep it for a while.
While the number of features may be a little lackluster, the overall value is extremely good. When running the amp on clean, you can get decent volume and extremely good quality sound, which is surprising for a 4 inch speaker. While the sound quality may not be the best when running it on sustain (thats when you can tell what you spent) the volume kind of makes up for that. On sustain you can actually get noise complaints with this tiny thing. I'd spend up to twice the asking price for this little powerhouse.

Great sound for the price!

Solid practice amp with great sound. The other reviews are right; don't expect anything from the overdrive - it's comical. But the regular sound is pretty close to a decent tube amp. I've the Fender Blues Junior but use the little Peavey when I don't want too much volume around the house.
Comments about Peavey Audition Electric Guitar Practice Amplifier:
First i have to say the distortion on the amp really sucks, it makes an annoying buzzBut i have to say this tiny little amp can go pretty loud. If you have the right equipment it can good as a practice amp. After a while it might shut off by it self, but that means you've been playing too loud for too long
Comments about Peavey Audition Electric Guitar Practice Amplifier:
I got the amp free with my first electric guitar guitar. It was okay for starting, but my guitar skill soon surpassed it. The clean tone was very impressive however the lack of mid controls for the EQ made it a chore to use. Also the distortion is so bad that that it isn't even worth mentioning.

This amp is really good for beginners!!! My sister bought this amp in a peavey rockmaster guitar deal but i use the amp for my own stratocaster style guitar. it's has an overdrive (lead) button and i use it all the time when i play metal. it works really well and its from a good amp company! i only wish it had a few different knobs like middle and all them. but overall a good guitar
Comments about Peavey Audition Electric Guitar Practice Amplifier:
This little amp gives me everything I needed.Good bass and texture.Admitedly , my needs are limited, but for my uses The Peavy Audition was a great purchase.
Comments about Peavey Audition Electric Guitar Practice Amplifier:
This amp just shut off on me while I was playing!!!! It takes a while to turn this amp on and off and you can still hear sound while your doing so. So when you can't hear any thing(or it shuts off)and you turn it off for real, you can now hardly hear something while it is shutting off. This has happened more than once, so be warned!!!!

This amp is good for beginners, but I wouldn't reccoment this amp for major rock stars though. I got this amp with a value pack with everything you need. This amp works well with the BOSS Metal Zone pedal. I also took the back cover off and it sounds great! So if your looking for a great beginners amp buy this! P.S. Great price!!!!
