Ive been using this amp for 5 years now every weekend playing country-rock and its just as good as the day I bought it. The other reviews that say you need a second cab for large shows is true.On its own its fine for small to medium size clubs, but you will need more sound for outside gigs or loud lead players. This is a quality amp built for heavy use, but buy a road case, its worth the investment.

I'd played upright through one of these for about five years and never found a tone I liked. Far too boomy and the eq doesn't help anything. Prone to extreme feedback with the upright at high volumes, which, given, all amps are, just this one especially. I wouldn't recomend this amp. A Fender Man 250 gets much better tone for the exact same price.

I love this amp... I saved up for months to buy it when I was 16. I've had it for 6 years now and it's still as great as the day I bought it!!! Buy this amp!!!

One heavy mother.

By BeneD

from Boston, MA

I bought this amp about 6 years ago when I first picked up bass guitar. I've never owned anything else. It's a wonderful amp. I've heard people complain it's not loud enough for gigs, well..I hooked mine up to a 4x10 cab and could drown everyone out, however there is no need. The 15" does it's job.Pro's: This amp is LOUD for it's size, a huge range of tones and a wonderful equalizer. You could get any sound you wanted out of this thing..great Peavey Engineering. The amp is bullet proof. I can't count how many times I've let it go down the stairs and still sounds just as good as the day I picked it up. It's also fairly small and doesn't take up that much room in the van.Cons: I'm not sure if the "115" means One 15" speaker or 115 lbs. Anyway..this thing is heavy despite it's small appearence.

Great Bass Amp

By CanMan

from Southeast Kansas

I bought this amp in 2004 and now in 2016 it's still thumping away like it was the day I got it. It did have some feedback till I started using a compressor, and the castor housing did break after a while, but I really moved it around a lot between changing practice locations and gigs.

Great amp for gigging. Great outside. I run a GK Micro amp in front through fx return. Sounds really punchy and solid. Great GK sound with plenty of punch for all venues.

Good Solid Small Gig Amp.

I purchased this amp in December while looking for an emergency replacement for my Ampeg BA115HP that broke down.I never considered Peavey gear before but this thing offered a lot of features and the ability to use an extention cabinet and run @ 300 watts. It has an effects loop, and a ground lift switch as well as a pre/post for the D.I. out that my Ampeg doesn't and it came with casters which is nice since it weighs 100 lb.Used as a stand alone it gets a little too muddy and "boomy" for my taste. The extensive eq (for a combo in this price range) allows you to tone down the "boomyness" a little but it then gets a little muddy. Tones are still useable but without a HF horn it doesn't cut through at all. When adding the TVX 210 cabinet it sounds great. Good volume and clarity. Lots of usable tones. Completely changes the personality of this amp.You get a lot for you money with this combo and it gives you a lot of ways to expand on this solid foundation. You also get get solid reliablity. Peavey's may not be the sexiest things out there, honestly I think their gear is rather ugly and utilitarian looking but they get the job done. Build quality is very good. I'm not hard on my gear but it's gives me piece of mind knowing that if it gets banged around or some drunk falls on it and knocks it over it will keep on going. I'm very happy with mine.

Good amp

By HexedRegrets

from Beaverton, Oregon

This amp is great, I use it with my band and it works amazingly... my Geddy Lee jazz bass with this amp is a great combo and I love it!! It made my first two basses sound great too!! My first basses were horrible, an Ibanez Soundgear, and a Squier P-bass.

Love at first pluck.

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

I bought mine new at a scratch and dent sale. It had a couple of dings and one spot on the side where the vinyl got snagged. Love at first pluck. I play hard and loud and this amp takes the abuse and comes back screaming for more. If your even thinking about getting this 115 combo do your self a favor and just do it, you will not be sorry. Nuff said. Thanxs for your time.

My gig amp

By Big Rick

from Ashland,Ohio

This was the first amp I purchased for "on the road" gigs . I played small bars ,and large halls ,and it never let me down on sound. It was easy to adjust for wherever I was playing. It was alittle heavy for the female roadies, but the guys liked it. I would buy another just to have as a back-up ...Good job Peavey

Amazing Amp

I have used this Amp several times to play gigs. This amp is awesome. Its very clear and punchy. It is a bit heavy but its worth hauling around to play on. As far as volume goes, this thing can pump out some sound, it is LOUD. If your playing a larger show just hook it up to a 4x10 cab and you will be set. I would recommend this amp

Very Nice Amp

By Anonymous

from Undisclosed

My band teacher has one of these. I recently took up bass guitar, and have had the oppritunity to use this amp. It is very loud, able to play over our whole school band (clarinets, tubas, that kind of band). Anyway, we are playing Chameleon by Herbie Hancock, and the bass line sounds great through this amp using my P-Bass copy.

I like this amp. Lots of power, and still small enough to throw in the back of my car with the back seats down for a gig. I also add the bw 115 cab from peavey to the combo for larger venues. I definitely recommend this combo to any bass musician!

Great Combo

By Old fussy dude

I have owned this amp since 1997 and it's had some use. I bought the one with the Black Widow speaker which adds extra volume and reliability. I have used this in all kinds of venues and never found it lacking. I use it with a Fender Jazz deluxe with active. I just adjust the sound from the bass and the amp does the rest. I tried quite a few amps before this but 7 years later it's still rocking along strong. One day I'll get an extra cab but I need a bigger car first, does not fit in a Mustang.
