This amp sounds great but it has a couple of problems. First...the speaker is hard wired (no speaker jack for the on-board speaker). You can't use it to power another head without the speaker playing too.

The external speaker jack is for 16ohms only. Just about everything in the world is 8 or 4 ohms so this limits you to only a sixteen ohm load. I know there are "work arounds" but I don't want to spend this money and then have to work around stuff. I can't play this amp with just my 1x12 mesa cab by itself. Why 16 ohms? So you can buy Peaveys 16ohm extension cab?

I researched amps for months and agonized over this decision.... I'm very picky about tone... I was between a very expensive boutique amp and the Peavey Delta Blues.

You will not find a better amp out there for the money than the Delta Blues on a new amp...

After watching a lot of YouTube and reading a lot of reviews here's what I thought the pitfalls would be with this amp:

Reverb
I had heard the Reverb wasn't that good and I had previously owned a Peavey Classic 30. The Reverb surprised me... It is very good.. very usable.. not a Fender Twin but very very good.

Back covering of Tubes
I heard the tubes were exposed but I guess the 2013 model fixed that as mine came with tube covering.

Reverb hum
I haven't found this to be a problem with mine.

Tremolo
not bad... not great... probably the biggest weakness of this amp.

no regets... amazing tone for the money.... gives you that "gritty" tube tone

Great Amp, period.GREAT reverb
If your wondering and or thinking this amp only does blues then the anwser is no. I use a EHXbigmuffpie, a pre-amp tube pedal, and a zee vex fuzz face. THIS AMP TAKES PEDALS LIKE A CHAMP.ANY TYPE OF AMP SOUND CAN BE ACHIVED. The 15" speaker makes it have great low end and mid-range. Metal heads get a high gain pedal turn up the bass, grunge players get a chorus and a ds-1, classic rock guys get a tube screamer. Watever sound you want you get from this amp with the right pedal, and if you like an organic sounding distortion, then do what i did, get a tube pre-amp pedal. it's got great cleans and is just a beauty when cranked with some pedals. Must buy for the price, super cheap for the sound you get

It's funny, people will search to no end and spare no expense searching/swapping tubes, etc, I'm no exception either . . . I'm more guilty than ANYBODY!! This amp will bring you settlement, you will FINALLY find "Peace" within yourself!! If you like those creamy bluesy sounds? Man . . . spare yourself the expense that people like myself has PAINFULLY endured, it's easy to think "I can do better" Seriously . . . this is as good as it gets folks, and Peavey has been building amps since the mid 60's and is an A+ company. Hats off to Peavey.

There's enough reviews here for anyone to realize that this is a product of the highest quality. The bad reviews are simply due to gear snobbing, lack of sense from metal heads and/or Marshall fans, or simply Peavey enemies.

As a matter of fact, I don't necessarily like Peavey brand, and actually think even their logo is completely lame, lost in the 80's. I'd confess I'd like having something else on its spot. But I went for this because of its features, and I am so pleased I did that decided to place yet another review to its add. Seriously, I know there's enough, but I think it deserves it, just out of justice.

Tone doesn't get much better than this. If it does, and if you have the ears to notice it, it's simply not worth paying 3, 4 or even 5 times this proce tag. The same goes for Custom USA Gibson's and Fenders, etc., which own out of sheer lust, but I don't think I need to go the same way when it comes to amps, having this one on my hands. It makes my CS336, jag and tele great justice.
Lots of pluses when compared with amps on it's price range. 2 Channels + boost, reverb, vibrato, loop, 15" celestion, 7 tubes, USA made...point me out a product that delivers as much for the same buck.
USA made. Flawless finish, despite not being real tweed, but I guess they never tried to say otherwise. And the way I see it, you get the same looks (the impression goes as far as when you touch it) but much more durability and practicity when cleaning the thing up.
As mentioned before, I haven't crossed anything as good as this on it's price range. Wanted this for while and over much more expensive gear just because of the 15". But now I've got it, it feels that I've got plenty more then expected. It's not for metal heads, as a 5150 is not for bluesmen or classic rockers, so judge things accordingly to what they comit itselves to do. And don't be moron to buy something you know it's not what you want.

I am viciously protectionist....made in the USA means a lot to me. That being said, sound is foremost. With this amp. I got both. I play delta blues of Broonzy, Robert Johnson, and all the roots dudes, and play out all the time. This amp has warmth and bite, with real growl at higher volumes. I love it. Hand over my heart to the brothers making these down in Mississippi.

first off stand by's are for pussy. if you cant reach over and turn your amp down then your just pure lazy. you all that say it saves your tubes well, maybe with a fender but not this amp. i have had this amp for going on ten years now . i have only had to change the tubes twice . i play out at least four times a week, very loud and three to four hours a gig. not counting all the hours the band practices. now as far as this amp goes, im not sure that i have EVER heard anything that comes close to the sound that this thing can produce. i come from a musical family i have four brothers that all play guitar so theres alot of amps going through our hand a lot of chances to hear whats out there. so take it from someone who has had this amp for nearly decade this thing only gets sweeter with time .

I went to look at the Fender Hot Rod Deluxe at my local guitar shop based on a friend's recommendation (a guitar tech for a popular Las Vegas show). After trying the amp out, I really didn't like the sound I got out of it. The salesman then suggested I try out the Delta Blues amp, and I was blown away. Better cleans, crunch sounds, highs, lows - everything. Looked around for a few weeks at other brands in the same price range (Vox, Marshall) but kept coming back to the Delta Blues and finally bought it. Nothing in its price range even compares to the tone you can get out of this thing. I highly recommend it.
No standby switch, and footswitch does not come standard - gotta buy it seperately.
Great look, great sound, great price.
Great sounding amp for the price.

This amp is the only one of its kind that meets my needs. I wanted a smaller amp for practice and small gigs that would get a blues overdriven sound, but clean enough for surf. Bigger amps would not get that blues overdrive at lower volume. Smaller amps did not have the power I needed. I used to have a Fender Twin Reverb. It had power and good clean, but terrible ovedrive. Tried the new Fender Blues amps, but found the overdrive terrible and the clean brittle and tinny. Anyway, this amp has many useable sounds. The 15 inch speaker fills a room with overdiven blues authority. Kudos to Peavey.

I have been touring and recording for 16 years now. Owned many vintage all tube amps such as 70`s Fender Twin, Laney, 70`s Fender Deluxe, , Vox, Orange, etc... They were good but old with issues after awhile. I switched to contemporary amps and had so many different types through the years. This Delta Blues is definitely the best new amp i have ever had in my entire career. Had a Peavey Classic back around 2001 - i did not like it. This amp has it all. On very low volume (1) the amp smokes already. Sounds like an old silvertone. Turning it up a bit just gets better. I expected a really good sound but what i have here is way more than that. There is only one mistake. The stand by button. It has no stand by button and the silver panel gets so hot after an hour i have to actually be careful touching it. Its boiling hot. It would be nice to give this fantastic amp a rest between sets. Other than that its a winner.
