I don't know why people are complaining about a practice amp sounding like a practice amp. There is no way that you are going to get stack sound out of a tiny little 6.5inch speaker & 10watts. Now, if you are realistic & see this amp for what it is, a practice amp, I think you will be very pleased! I've played on alot of bass practice amps & have liked this little guy alot! It's tiny & lightweight, so great to keep in the bedroom for practice.

    Alright Amp

This was my first bass amp and it lasted about a year. It started humming really badly even on extremely low volume. Couldn't play past a quarter volume. Would not recommend...

Peavey MAX 126 is Perfect for Practicing

        By CMWashBass

        from Washington State

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

This is the first bass amp I have owned. I bought it to practice my bass and it works for that and only that. Even though it is small in size it still packs a punch. I usually only have it dialed into 2 or 3 on the volume and it does the trick. Do not get this amp if you want to use it in your jazz quartet group or rock-out with your friends. This little guy is awesome but it does have it's limits. In conclusion for the price this is the best practice amp you can buy for any type of bass.

        bad

        By bassguy47

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

this amp is good for playing in your room all alone. this is not an amp for anything but that. i play in a small jazz band and brought over to practice with and when i turned it on it hummed so bad. If i turned it up past half the volume all you hear is buzzing. I would compare it to the volume of playing unplugged. Do not buy this for anything but playing solo.

A Practice Amp, Nothing More, Nothing Less

        By Slackbassist

        from Fairfax, VA

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

If you are looking for an amp that will let you hear your bass while practicing, this is the amp for you. I would recommend putting on the Vintage switch for anything hard, but overall, this amp will reproduce what you are playing, especially dynamics-wise. And that's pretty much all you can ask for in a practice amp.

        Personal Practice Amp

        By Rhythm Man

        from Arkansas USA

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

I bought this little amp for three reasons: 1) I just wanted something that would allow for low levels of amplification during personal practice. 2) to have something to amplify my bass when I giving lessons, and 3) Peavey quality. This amp has good tone for a very small amp. It's sturdy, and allows me to hear my bass. It's responsive to dynamics (hard vs. soft picking) so I can do what I need to with it during practice. If you are looking for something with a little more punch and a great tone in a practice amp, then you will want step up to the Peavey Max 158. I bought that one for my son, and it is a lot more amp than this little guy. Bottom line: This is a great amp if you intend to use it for personal practice only. It has Peavey quality and the tone is better than other amps in this price range.

        Peavey 126 practice bass amp

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

For the money, you get a solid little amp that is fine for what it was made for. I had a stroke several years and am relkearning to play Jeff Healey style, with my Fender Precision bass on my lap. this little amp is more than sufficient

        Weak Amp Even for Practice

        By Guitar Critic

        Ask me a question

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

Got this amp for practice based on prior reviews. The amp does not get loud enough for practice and the tone is not that great. I checked it with 2 of my bass guitars (one with passive and the other with active pickups). It sounded slightly better with active pickups, but still no good tone. Send it back after playing for 30 mintes. Look elswhere for a practice amp.
