I don't know why people are complaining about a practice amp sounding like a practice amp. There is no way that you are going to get stack sound out of a tiny little 6.5inch speaker & 10watts. Now, if you are realistic & see this amp for what it is, a practice amp, I think you will be very pleased! I've played on alot of bass practice amps & have liked this little guy alot! It's tiny & lightweight, so great to keep in the bedroom for practice.

Alright Amp

This was my first bass amp and it lasted about a year. It started humming really badly even on extremely low volume. Couldn't play past a quarter volume. Would not recommend...

Peavey MAX 126 is Perfect for Practicing

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

This is the first bass amp I have owned. I bought it to practice my bass and it works for that and only that. Even though it is small in size it still packs a punch. I usually only have it dialed into 2 or 3 on the volume and it does the trick. Do not get this amp if you want to use it in your jazz quartet group or rock-out with your friends. This little guy is awesome but it does have it's limits. In conclusion for the price this is the best practice amp you can buy for any type of bass.

Personal Practice Amp

By Rhythm Man

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

I bought this little amp for three reasons: 1) I just wanted something that would allow for low levels of amplification during personal practice. 2) to have something to amplify my bass when I giving lessons, and 3) Peavey quality. This amp has good tone for a very small amp. It's sturdy, and allows me to hear my bass. It's responsive to dynamics (hard vs. soft picking) so I can do what I need to with it during practice. If you are looking for something with a little more punch and a great tone in a practice amp, then you will want step up to the Peavey Max 158. I bought that one for my son, and it is a lot more amp than this little guy. Bottom line: This is a great amp if you intend to use it for personal practice only. It has Peavey quality and the tone is better than other amps in this price range.

A Practice Amp, Nothing More, Nothing Less

By Slackbassist

from Fairfax, VA

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

If you are looking for an amp that will let you hear your bass while practicing, this is the amp for you. I would recommend putting on the Vintage switch for anything hard, but overall, this amp will reproduce what you are playing, especially dynamics-wise. And that's pretty much all you can ask for in a practice amp.

      Great for Begginer Bassists

      By Anonymous

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

This line of practice amps is great for begginner's like myself. It's great for practicing alone. Jamming also works provided your not getting too loud because it does buzz and hum past a certain point. But you can still turn it up considerably loud without it being a problem. One thing I was not satisfies with this amp about was that the vintage mode is fairly useless. I know you can't expect much from a cheaper amp but the change in tone is hardly noticeable in vintage mode and it also causesthe amp to hum at a much lower volume level. I tend to just keep it off at all times.

      An Awesome Practice Amp

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

This was the first amp I ever got. It's still a great one to practice on. It's not going to give you that raw, floor-rumbling, meat and potatoes bass sound, but it will give you something to learn on. Its EQ is pretty good, along with the Tube Emulation. I love playing with that. It's a great amp to practice on, but go bigger if you're expecting to play with other musicians.

It's a practice amp, come on!!

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

First, you have to know what this is... IT'S A PRACTICE AMP!!! This is not meant to be played with a drum kit, or other guitars, "real" gig and band practice amps don't normally have a CD-in either, this is all-in-all a great little tool for practicing, the CD in allows you to play along with your iPod or other media player, and the headphone jack makes it easy to practice all night long without waking your parents or neighbors. It's unfair to bash this because it doesn't have much volume, if it was meant to be loud, it wouldn't be a practice amp!

Comments about Peavey MAX 126 Bass Practice Combo:

First of all this product is of excellent quality, like you can expect from PEAVY. It is quite simple and effective. The tone is warm and authentic. Very light and compact. I have an amp about the same size from Behringer as well. The Behringer amp is a slightly better value for the money, it has more options and a bigger sound.
