Well I give it 9 because of the dirty channel - CRAP! I use the modern clean channel with a zoom 505II :) Bass:8 mid:4 High:6 with no EQ from the processor(only dist on gain 25) sounds amazing for a small practice amp :) I Like it! No, I love it :) Good for hardcore but don't use the onboard distortions - they are noisy and useless I think (to my taste) Well as a metalhead i Like louder sound but here in BG thigs are rather expensive(guitars, heads, cabs) Over this amp ROCKS - Peavey are the best amplifiers as nothing compares to the 5150 (HARDCORE!) Well if you are a metal head and want an inexpensive and nice amp BUY this one - you'll be pleased. But remember to use a distortion pedal(as i said lead channel sux hard) :)
i've had this amp for a day and i am already in love with it. the distortion is great the clean is awesome. it is all you need!
Ive owned this amp for a few years now and it suits my needs. It's a little noisy, but it performs well for a solid state amp. Couldn't beat the price. Still wish I'd bought a tube amp.
Great clean and distorted channels, but the only thing that I dont like about it is when playing heavy metal and playing with friends it's hard to play with a drummer. The amp doesnt go very loud without sounding muddy after 7 or 8. at first I thought it was my cheap guitar, but then I tried it with my Ibanez Iceman 400 and then I knew it was just the amps inability.
I bought the amp at a pawn shop knowing what i was buying. Best deal of my life so far. The Clean is actually clean all the way through even at ten. The distortion is more distorted at lower volumes than higher volumes. The reverb has potential but i may take it to get set up.
I bought this amp as a step up from me practice amp... and I made a great choice! This amp gives good clean, blues, rock, and metal sounds. The reverb is great. It has plenty of adjustments and great volume. I would recommend this amp for anyone looking to upgrade from their first practice amp, or for anyone that needs a great personal use amp. Great Amp!
Great amp for the price, I recommend it. Peace out
At first when i selected a peavey, i pick up the Rage 158, which sounded good but it didn't really have enough features and volume. This amp solved that problem, it has great sound and it has lots of different features! when i turn it up to 8 or 9, i can have bass and actually hear myself. it sounds best with any digitech x-morph pedal! get it now and stop procrastinating!
After taking several years off from playing guitar, I purchased this amp and a Wolfgang EXP. I was very pleasantly surprised by the big sound this amp belts out. The different voicings make it the most versatile, best sounding, best VALUE on the market. I plan to keep it even after my Triple X 212 Combo arrives! Gotta love Peavey!
I bought this amp two years and I still haven't bought another one. To this day, this amp impresses me and I wouldn't be where I am without it. The sound is SWEET and when you buy the remote switch it makes it easier to switch between from clean to lead or add reverb. Overall, it's one of the best amps I've ever played.
