The Peavey ValveKing half-stack guitar amplifier includes ValveKing 100 Head guitar amp and ValveKing 412 Cab.
At the heart of the all-tube Peavey ValveKing 100 Head is a patent-pending, Class A/B Texture control that allows variable selection and combination of Class A and Class AB power structures. This gives you the ability to coax a wide range of tones out of the ValveKing 100 Head. It features 12AX7 preamp and 6L6GC power amp tubes; 2 footswitchable channels with independent 3-band EQ and volume; footswitchable boost on the lead channel; global resonance, presence, and reverb controls; a buffered effects loop; and dual speaker jacks in parallel.
The perfect complement to the Peavey ValveKing 100 Head, the all-birch ValveKing Series 412 Cab features 4 - 12" ValveKing speakers, switchable mono/stereo operation, rear-mounted speakers, and 400W continuous power handling.

I'll get straight to the point, being a recording artist I was looking for more gear and was on my way to buy a Marshall MA50W with matching cab when I heard this one being played, You definitely want this amp, rich tube sound, awesome metal crunch, all around wonderful amp regardless of the genre, everything from blues to metal extremely versatile. Definitely worth the money!

if you play metal or anything close DO NOT buy this amp. it cannot handle the low-ends of a guitar even in standard tuning, especially when it comes to palm muting. maybe if you have a different cab that cud actually handle what the head puts out it MIGHT sound decent. i have a boss equilizer and i cant even use it cuz the boost it gives makes the amp sound even worse. if youre still considering buying one, go play just open e palm mutes(even on a low volume) if youre gonna spend this much id save up a little bit longer and get something else

This is a great amp it has good bright cleans and has enough gain for any kind of metal. The people who claim "NOT GOOD FOR METAL" just don't know how to set the amp up. They think you just hit a button like on a line 6 spider and BAM you will get a metal tone. WRONG! You need to tweak your sound and to be quite honest you don't really need an OD pedal once you start crankin the volume it really takes on a heavy sound. It's loud as hell too! I threw some Sovtek 6l6wxt tubes in it and it sounds great just ordered my eminence speakers too!! If you want some tips on how to set it up just go on YT and search "How To Get A Brutal Tone Out of Your Peavey Valveking" That should help! Also run a patch cable through the effects loop it cleans up your sound a bit. Good for metal! Trust meh! You can get a brutal sound if you know what you are doing.

i've been playing with this amp for the past few years and i've received a lot of compliments on the sound it get. at the time of purchase, money was pretty tight but i needed a reliable amp that i didnt need to use a bunch of pedals with just to make it sound good. i play mainly rock and metal and this amp absolutely helps me achieve what i want. its got a certain warm crunch that i feel like most other amps just dont have in this price range. i debated getting a Randall instead of this one but i knew it wouldnt sound this good. i will admit though, i was never too impressed with the clean channel of this amp but i did like how there was a button to add more brightness to the clean sound.
overall, this amp is really great and i imagine the combo amp version of this is great too. i would not recommend this amp if you're just going to be jamming in your bedroom like i do. i dont think i've EVER raised the volume higher than 1 when playing by myself. if you're interested in this great tone, but dont plan on gigging with it, i'd definitely go for the smaller combo amp version.

Honestly this is just a mediocar practice amp to me. Mind you, I don't think there is a such thing as a perfect amp that doesn't need an up grade or a modification. It's too muddy, not great for metal, nor is it great for blues. For the money yes, it's great for power but that is about it in my opinion. If you're a metal player, you'd be better off with a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (don't really do it)...which I should have bought over this 6 years ago. But being a kid; I had to have the half stack-worst mistake ever made. Unless you have roadies DO NOT GET A HALF STACK!!!

I love the volume. Be sure you have the room and need for an amp this loud! It is a monster. But you have to get it up about 2.5 or more to sound good and believe me thats $%^& LOUD with this guy! If your looking for a practice amp. Buy one. This is NOT. Set to 4.5 No other band member can be heard.. Maybe the drums. I run it at about 3.5 for practice with my wifes peavey 300w bass amp and r. guitarists amp (solid state randall) prob at about 8vol. and It sounds amazing. Clean chanel is great too but never use it with my band. I run a boss noise sup. and an ibanez tubsceemer overdrive petals. but only on cold days!?!? It seems the warmer the amp. AND room is the better it sounds and when really warm I dont use the petals at all. I am new to tube amps and I guess this is normal. I have had many full stacks and none have anywhere near the great sound this half stack has. One tip. Let it warm up on stand by for 20 minutes before playing for a better sound

I didn't know what to expect buying this. I needed an amp and didn't have a bunch of money to spend. This amp to me is not the best amp I could buy, but it definitely was worth the money. Tube relay is excellent and the cleans are beautiful. The lead channel is not the best I've heard, but if you mess with it enough you can get a tone you can be satisfied with.

i have been looking for a tube half stack for about a year,saved my money up and was going out to buy a marshall at the local music store,was about ready to spend over 2000.00 when i herd someone playing through this at the other end of the music room,so i tried it. to make a long story short i bought this and another guitar.it may not be a 2500.00 dallor marshall but it sounds real close great job peavey

This amp is absolutely amazing for what it is and how much is costs. That distinct warm tube tone that everyone is after is in this amp. And, the best part, it has an awesome metal crunch. This amp is perfect for hard rock or metal, or even jazz. You have a small army of tonal options. I got mine used at a Guitar Center, and it's a little older. Mine has a silver grill and the Peavey logo doesnt have the wings. And I think the newer models are better than mine, but I'm not reviewing mine. For the price, you really can't get tube tone (Believe me, I've tried). I've never actually used the Valve King cab though, but thats only a minute difference. All in all, this amp is superb. Go buy one. Right now. Go go go go.

Cleans are great and the distortion is good too. I use the cleans with a metal pedal and it sounds AMAZING!!! Forget what people say about the palm mutes being weak, this thing punches each note with a good pedal/guitar. Like having a tube switcher knob in the back, makes for alot of creativity. My only complaint is that the reverb is a master, so it's either on or it's off no matter the channel. This is well worth paying a few extra bucks for to get away from the tacky Marshall MG name and steering clear of hollow Line 6 sounds.
