I bought this cab to go with my Valve King and it is a perfect match. It will handle Anything that amp will throw at it! From crystal clean to down and dirty doesn't miss a beat. Casters great don't bind, handles real sturdy, only drawback I've found was the plastic hardware holding your input jacks are fragile. I'm going to replace them with a steel jack plate which will solve the problem. Other than that, great cabinet. Thanks Musicians Friend.

As in one other post when I unboxed it there were two casters torn off by someone other than me? However being able to think on the run I just straitend the mounting plate of the casters and the reattached all four with larger diameter wood screws, all fixed. The ValveKing speakers are up to the task of cleans, mids and driving lows. The cabinet would be a lot friendlier if it were switcable for stereo and different ohm settings as the head is ohm switchable. For a cabinet with no bells and whistles, the sound and speaker quality are true Peavey all the way, meaning when you plug it up it is gonna play. I've got a vintage Peavey Classic 100 amp and 4x10 cab thats probably 16 years old and still cooks like it is supposed to. I feel that this new VK cab will more than likely do the same. The main reason for me buying the VK head and cab is the tight sound from high to low and tank like longivity. For me it rates a good overall.

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

i was debating about this cabinet for about a week, reading reviews, playing it with different heads, playing different cabinets, and the valve king cabinet just seems to hold up. excellent everything, i play death metal, like the faceless, suffocation, necrophagist, and other tech death metal bands. it performs in every respect. just get it, and shred away with no worrries.

Excellent Stageworthy Cab, Not Tour Worthy

    By Mike Craig

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

I've had this cabinet for almost two years now and have been pretty gentle with it, but have taken it on the road several times. The casters are great and have never bound up or came loose on me and the sound has not deteriorated. However, the plastic piece that fastens the inputs on the back have both broken on me simply by a small tug on the cable

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

I have had the Valveking cabinet for about a year now, and I am still very pleased with it. I use a Marshall AVT50H head, DOD eq, Alesis 3630 compressor, and I play an ESP Viper 400 with EMG active 81 85 pickups, it sounds amazing! This cab is loud and 400w capacity is nice to have. I know this is a small detail and soes not effect the sound but, the handels are round bars and not that half round type shape that kills your fingers when you carry it around, that is a plus in my book. Also it is fairly light weight I carry it up and down my stairs all the time. I recomend this cab to everybody that asks me what cab they shoud get. The price is right on this beast, a very nice budget cab if you ask me.

This puppy handles my VTM 120 with ease, better than the original celestion cab I got back then! It even sounds better than my Marshall 1960A, and it's half the price! Get this monster, you won't regret it!!

I played this cab using a mesa dual rec, and also tried the dual rec through an oversized mesa cabinet. I was blown away, not only did the cab beg for more volume, it held the lows perfect, just as good as the mesa was holding them. It's all around an amazing cabinet for the money, you won't be let down, just try it! (or buy it!)

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

I originally bought this cab to go along with my vk112 to be able to fill up bigger venues. After the transformer blew in my vk i bought a Peavey 6505+ and this cab goes great with it. The bass is nice and tight not loose or flabby the highs cut through just fine!

I just bought this cab along with my Peavey XXL head and I have to say that this thing is SWEET!! I cranked it up before I bought it and it gets LOUD playing through a Marchall JCM tube head. Overall, this thing is a great cab for the price.. I love mine for the short amount of time that I've had it. :)

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

All in all an awesome deal, especially if you are getting the full halfstack. Cab sounds very good, handles loads of gain. I play 6 and 7 string guitars through it and it handles drop A tuning like a champ. The only better value is a cheap b52 cab. Construction is so-so. The input jacks pop out of the back panel, they should be on a recessed panel. I also wish it had an impeadance selector, but it works fine without. Even so, a really awesome deal!

I run this cabinet with my Marshall DSL100H head. And I also have the Marshall 1960 Lead straight cabinet. The two work great together. The two together covers both ends of the high and lows. I was trying to get my money together to get the slant 1960 Lead cabinet but got this instead. I'm very happy with the out come. I would buy this cabinet again. The sound is better than the 6505 cabinet to me. I play a Strat and I get every thing I'm looking for with the two cabinets.

This one was the replacement for one that UPS destroyed. It was also jostled around the truck but other than one small damage to the side it worked great. The fist one was DOA but this one is fine.

      By matthiashope

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

I got my Marshall 1960A stolen from a show a couple months ago and found myself cab-less as well as very short on money to solve the problem. I tried out every cabinet at guitar center and settled on this. Very affordable, and its tone rivaled that of more expensive cabinets. It doesn't weigh much and has thin wood, which is great for loading, but it weakens the bass response just a hair. However I challenge you to find a cabinet in this price range that even comes close to touching this. Overall, a great value.

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

I haven't used many different guitar cabs, but I've had the Peavy Valveking for about 4 months now and I've gotta say; I don't think I'll need any other.I use it with a Line-6 Spider II head at mostly live gigs, and I push the drivers in the cab to serious DB levels and the Valveking takes it like a champ. GREAT mid clarity and very good high freq response. The drivers max out at about 5 vol on a standard solid-state head with the bass cranked all the way up, which would be my only negative opinion, not that you need that much low end, but I like having the option.Overall, this is a great cab. Sounds fantastic and it's rock solid. You simply don't need anything else unless you wanna get 2 of these babies and stack 'em. BUY THIS! I guarantee you won't regret it.

      Sounds great; Casters SUCK!

      By AMCDaddy

      from Sacramento

Comments about Peavey ValveKing 412 Guitar Cabinet:

I've owned the Peavey ValveKing for a little over a year and although I LOVE the tone and quality of the head, the cabinet is low quality based solely on the casters. When I first purchased the half stack, I couldn't wait to take it out of the box and start making noise. Out of the box, two of the casters on the cabinet were completely bent and had the screws torn out. Needless to say, I wasn't pleased. Took it back and got another brand new cabinet. At last night's gig, my vocalist was wheeling my cabinet up the ramp onto the stage and hit a seam in the floor and the caster just completely snapped off. 2 of the screws just tore out of the cabinet. The amp was unbalanced and teetering all night long and I wasn't too happy. That's two cabinets with weak and/or damaged casters and that's too many.My advice - Get the ValveKing Head; it's a GREAT value, but leave the cabinet on the showroom floor. It's not durable enough to withstand frequent gigging.

I bought this cab to go with my Marshall DSL 100H head. I already have the Marshall 1960 B cab. I got the Peavey because of the price. The Peavey is just a little clearer I mean just a little. But they sound beautiful together. It was a great choice for me without even knowing it, because I play in gyms, halls, etc. And you can turn this down low and still have that clear sound. Really can't tell the difference between the two. Best cabinet for the money and can handle the power.
