I know you're not reading this to learn all about me but I think my experiences definitely add to the appeal of this amp & better explains why it kicks a. I play mostly metal/metalcore/djent/jazz stuff. I play an Agile Septor Elite 8 string with EMG 808s. I've been playing for 15+ years, I've owned all kinds of tube, solid state, & hybrid heads & combos. Some good, some not so good. I've been a die hard fan of Line 6 from the beginning. Despite the naysayers, they have a loyal following & for good reason. I've owned several Line 6 amps & I've been relying on my original red bean POD as my main practice/recording tool for at least the last 10 years. (I tried the newer HD version as well but it just wasn't for me) There's just something so right about the original & I've gotten so much praise over my tone over the years, thanks mostly to my POD. I will say Line 6 does metal exceptionally well & it's been my go-to since forever but I think it's finally met its match.

I'm genuinely astounded at the tones coming out of this amp. First things first, I've owned a block letter 5150 stack, a Valveking 100 stack, & a 6505+ 112 combo & I tell you what, this amp can get so close to those amps it's amazing! Not in terms of volume of course but the tonal dynamics, responsiveness, & overall sound, just WOW. The level of tonal quality & characteristics can be heard on all the other amp models too. It takes a lot to impress me & I'm impressed. It's the amp I never knew I needed so much. This amp, & frankly the entire Vypyr series, is a true diamond in the rough. Seriously, tone gurus, tube purists, & gear snobs alike need to set aside their biases & give this amp an honest chance. Trust me, I get the appeal of the "real deal amps" & they're amazing but, & maybe it's just me, why should I fork over stupid amounts of money for the genuine article when I can spend a fraction on something that sounds SO close? I'm over the phase of caring what others think of my gear, for me it's all about the tone &, to quote Metallica, nothing else matters. This thing is good for solo practice, band practice, & you can mic it on stage. Who cares that it's small & it's not an expensive boutique tube amp? I should also mention I'm a dad & husband & I work for a living so good deals like this are a godsend for me. Family is so much more important than gear so thank you Peavey for offering this kind of quality at such a small price.

I stumbled upon & purchased the original 15w Vypyr not too long ago & was so impressed with the tone it produced I sold it & got the updated/upgraded model. The difference between the 2...well the 20w is more powerful/louder of course, noticeably better overall build quality, an added 3/4 rear speaker enclosure (thank you! much tighter/deeper bass response!), addition of bass/acoustic modeling, the list just goes on & on as far as features go.

Guys I really believe Peavey is onto something here & I have no doubt that history will prove that I'm right. People are going to start taking notice, it's only a matter of time & I hope it helps change the whole dynamic for other amp manufacturers. You CAN give customers good tone & quality without asking for their soul &/or entire savings! Now that technology has come this far, it's obvious things in the industry are going to start changing & I'm proud to be part of that shift. I don't know about you guys but I've already spent enough money on gear! Thanks again Peavey, you deserve all the praise in the world & you'd be a fool not to purchase one of these amps. BUY THE AMP!

On the right track, but

Great idea, but it rattles bad when I play my bass. The accoustic and electric guitars sound great. If they get that worked out I would try it again.

Comments about Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 20W 1x8 Guitar Modeling Combo Amp:

Good amp with lots of sound options. Has limits due to foot pedal not coming with it. also pedal is pricey (almost as high as the amp, big pedal is twice as high). Also had two broken corners out of the box. Plastic in them seems brittle. Have wrote Peavey about issue before sending back to MusiciansFriend. Probably should have used metal corners.

Comments about Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 20W 1x8 Guitar Modeling Combo Amp:

Great little amp for the money and sounds good. Biggest disadvantage is foot peddle is extra and cost more then amp. Drum machine can't be accessed without peddle(maybe to get you to buy peddle right). But overall worth the price and good quality. Fancy light effects to show off also!

Comments about Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 20W 1x8 Guitar Modeling Combo Amp:

Basically, I've been playing guitar probably when I was 15. But overall, the actual amp is really good for experienced players. It could be even used for beginner players ranging from skill levels.

It definitely does have a good sound to it. Especially when your jamming along with old time bands like Metallica, Skid Row, and Twisted sister. The distortion can get really heavy if your into heavy metal. I love the clean guitar sound especially when you add the Chorus to it.

I love the headphone jack to it because when somebody is sleeping, you can just plug headphones and just practice jamming and coming up with different licks.

This is a definite buy if you have a wide variety of music. It works for any type of music from classical music to heavy metal.

Comments about Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 20W 1x8 Guitar Modeling Combo Amp:

I was very surprised by how good this amp is considering how inexpensive it was. The amp mods are awesome, I have a Fender Twin Reverb and the Twin in the amp mods, comes pretty close. There are 12 amp mods each with 3 channels, clean, overdrive and distortion. Then there are 24 different effect mods as well. The effect mods are well done and sound very much like the real thing. From low volume to cranking, this amp can cover it. It was pretty easy to figure out the amp and put it thru its paces...

Comments about Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 20W 1x8 Guitar Modeling Combo Amp:

I have a Fender Twin Reverb 65 RI and a Carvin VL100 Legacy, both pushing 4X12 Peavey cabinets that are over 30 years old. So I think I have a pretty good idea of what a great amp consists of.
Peavey makes great stuff, and this little inexpensive amp has so much packed into it,that once again Peavey has done it. Sounds good at low levels and you can crank this as well. Has 8 amp models with 3 channels on each amp, 24 effects, delay and reverb. Also has a couple acoustic and bass amp models as well. You can find some cool effects too like the synth and reverse settings.

An absolute bargain for the price. this amp is worth way more than this price. There are a plethora of different effects and distortions to choose from and the sound quality is top rate. The flashing lights surrounding the knobs are just icing on the cake. Looks very cool in a darkened room. I am just so pleased with this amp I have a blast every time I use it. A lot of fun. Thanks PEAVEY! And thanks to Musicians Friend for the speedy delivery!!!

Comments about Peavey VYPYR VIP 1 20W 1x8 Guitar Modeling Combo Amp:

Instead of buying another pedal I bought this as I don't have a bass amp. I have very high end tube amps and guitars and wasn't sure what to expect. It's a decent amp and for the money a bargain. Will it replace my tube amps...No. I also have a Fender Vibro Champ XD which does a better job at pure tube sound. For the money the Peavey is wonderful, when you throw in the effects a steal. PLus the versatility of being a bass amp gives everyone an excuse for one more amp. The one gripe I have is when you hold a note you can hear the digital artifacts when the volume decays. Other than that some great amp and effect models. For the price of one pedal you get an amp with a whole bunch of effects and models.
