Putting together a little pedalboard for the new bassist. I have several Pedaltrain boards, 2 Jr.s (with a and b versions of my guitar rig) a Mini (with my Looper, a delay, a tiny trem pedal, runs in the effects loop but currently unused) and the OG original Pedaltrain w/a hardcase that toured 9 countries in 7 weeks. That board played 5-600 shows before getting retired, like the smaller Jr., much much easier to shlep around. Pedaltrain is dead simple, lightweight (unless you're touring, don't bother with hardcase on the bigger boards, too heavy and not particularly roadworthy), comes with all the bits you need to set it up, good price.

Board is compact and well-designed. You do have to buy the right kind of power supply with it, so add another $20+ to the cost. The single dumbest thing about this pedal board is the case it comes with. If you use the shoulder strap to pick it up, it immediately flips the whole thing upside down because of where the straps attach. So you have to make sure the pedals are extremely well-attached. It's like nobody in their design room bothered to test it out before putting it on the market. Would I recommend it to a friend? Maybe, but with some qualifications and a price reduction.

    Comments about Pedaltrain Mini Pedalboard:

In 40 years of playing, I've never owned a pedal board. Since I picked up a chromatic tuner and I'm using and overdrive and a delay I started getting tired of kicking the all over and decided to secure them all in the one spot.

The Pedaltrain is a good, lightweight construction. It comes with all the zipties and velcro tape you need to put it together.

Since there was enough room, I dusted off ye olde chorus.

My one complaint would be that there's no relief at all on the bottom, so any wires that you have to run to the power supply etc. must go up and over. A little "U" channel would make life easier, but overall, pretty happy with this.

    Great board, bad bag

    Pros

    Cons

    • No Room For Power Supply
    • Poor Bag Design

    Best Uses

    Comments about Pedaltrain Mini Pedalboard:

The pedal board itself is very well made. I have 5 pedals on mine, one of which is a double pedal, and have plenty of room left for a 6th. However, there is no tilt to the board and as a result, you cannot attach a power supply underneath like other Pedaltrain boards (to be fair, it's so narrow that even with tilt you would not be able to attach a PSU to the bottom).

the biggest problem (and it's not that big a deal) is that the strap attachments to the bag are right in the center of each side of the bag. So, when you try to pick it up using the strap, the bag does somersaults potentially dislodging your pedals. Which brings me to the other issue: the supplied Velcro could be a lot grippier given the above issue.

The board is very light and small, so there are no issues with getting on a train with it or it taking up a ton of space in your car. This makes it perfect for rehearsals. Since there is no room for a PSU and you're stuck using a daisy-chain and a OneSpot to power your pedals, it may not be the best thing for live performances and you may not be able to use certain pedals which require an isolated power source.

Overall, this is a very good product for a specific application that could be far more versatile and great if they just made a few small tweaks.

    Comments about Pedaltrain Mini Pedalboard:

It's a solid platform for effects pedals, holds everything together neatly, and stows in a bag for travel. What more could you need? Like many I thought the price was a little high for some aluminum tubing, Velcro and a nylon bag. However, unless you have all the materials on hand (meaning you already paid once for them), I don't think you could build anything better in a more cost efficient manner. It looks pro, once assembled and feels sturdy. There was ample Velcro and ties for most users. I wish the bag was designed a little better (the anchor points for the shoulder strap are all wrong), but I don't travel with mine much and the handle works just fine in lieu of the shoulder strap. I must say that overall, I'm very pleased. There are not many things I buy where I feel like I got my money's worth - but oddly enough, I feel like I did with this simple little pedal platform.

Just what I needed to put my 5 MXR pedals on. Not big enough for a Wah, but I put my Wah in front of the board anyway. Very well built unit, but way too expensive for what it is. Overall I am pleased.

The Pedaltrain Mini is the perfect size for portability. Add the the surprisingly sturdy carry bag, the ample amount of included Velcro, more than enough zip ties, and an abundance of wiring and power options available and the Mini becomes perfectly-sized pedalboard for carrying to a get-together, practice, or Gutar Club.

Picked up this pedalboard as a grab n go solution for when I don't need to drag out the monster. LOVE IT! Should have purchased this sooner (would have except I didn't know about these smaller Pedaltrain boards). I can slap 3-4 pedals together for a quick gig and run with it - so easy! Really enjoy the bag in particular - love the extra compartment for storage!

                  Comments about Pedaltrain Mini Pedalboard:

Works great. You have to get the right kind of power supply (which of course adds to the cost) so that you can fit it all underneath the board. It's very basic, just a metal rack, holds 3-5 pedals depending on how much real estate they take up. In fact it's so basic that the price seems a bit high...you take it out of the box and you're like "this is it?" Especially when you consider that you'll also have to drop more cash on a power supply. But it is a good pedal board, lightweight and easy to set up. Comes with velcro and zip ties to secure your pedals, and a carrying bag.
