The MK50 keyboard amplifier works great as a drum amp. I have an Alesis DM6 USB performance drum set. I did crank it up to full volume and had no problems at all except for everything rattlinging on the walls from the awsome bass and the loss of hearing :-). My roommate was downstairs and he said it sounded awsome. He is a very experienced gutar player with extensive knowledge in amps and he is very impressed. The peak and limiter lights do come on but only when I am really 'pounding' on the drums. I play with the input volume at 6, the master volume at 6, and the drum module volume at about 90%. This is more than loud enough without causing me to go deaf. It does come with a power cord which is packed in the triangular shaped packing cardboard piece unlike previously stated by another review. I can't say enough how happy I am with this purchase. Great sound, great features (except for the lack of speaker outs) and an excellent value. I was all smiles as soon as I hooked it up. Rock on :-)
The only problem with this amp is that there is no speaker out jacks eventhough it lists as having them. You could use the headphone jack as a speaker out but, then the amp will be bypassed. The back is trapazoid shaped so you can angle it. The reverb option is kind of weak but, I am using as a drum amp so reverb isn't a major concern. Overall it dials in nicely. I would have given a 10 if it wasn't for the mis-advertising about the speaker outs.
The quality is just unbeatable at this price. The corner pieces are plastic instead of metal but I have no intentions of banging it around. The sound is great. Excellent highs, mids and lows. The cymbals really come to life without any crackle or breaking up. The bass is deep and clean.
You can't go wrong at this price. I would have paid double the price for another amp and not have gotten as large of a woofer.

I have to give a low score due to the fact that I have to send this Christmas present back.
      That sucks.
2 channels with 4 bands of EQ. nice reverb
Woofer sounds great for bedroom practice.
Tweeter is bad right out of the box.
      Has a buzz in it.
I thought that it was the nice metal grill but further investigation is it is the tweet.
I would give this a 10 if not for the tweeter issue.

Comments about Phonic MK50 Keyboard Amplifier:

I'm giving this a 5 based on the quality given the cost (I got on sale). At this price, it was a great deal. The sound quality is quite good for the money. I use it to hear my synth and to practice with a band (not super loud though). The construction while using plastic in places is pretty sturdy. The knobs are firm and made of a hard plastic I believe. And it did come with a power cord.

It is a good thing I got this as a freebie as part of a larger order. Handle broke second time I picked up the unit (by the handle. If you won't be moving it around, I guess it would be OK.

A good performer. I've used it as a practice amp, monitor for my sound reinforcement, and used 2 for a small stereo vocal reinforcement system. Within it's limits it's hard to beat.

Comments about Phonic MK50 Keyboard Amplifier:

I received this amp from Musician's Friend as a bonus when I purchased a Korg SV-1 keyboard. It is perfect as a practice amp or even an amp for small room solo gigs. If you think you're going to drive a full 88 key keyboard or bass at full volume, you will be disappointed. There are three key points that allow you to pull more power out of this amp: 1) pay attention to the gain structure 2) use subtractive EQ and not additive, and 3) get the amp off the floor (I use two milk crates). I just used this amp on a medium size restaurant gig and it worked fine with only minor clipping. The Phonic EQ should only be used to cut frequencies, not boost them – all major EQing should be done before the signal hits the Phonic. I used an old Boss 8-channel line mixer loaded with reverb and delay effects as well as sends from a SV-1, vocal, Roland GR-55, a Digi Tech JamMan, and a Godin Spectrum guitar – sounded great. If you need a bull of a keyboard amp, pass on this. If you're willing to really work with EQ and gain structure in medium room environments, you might like this amp.

Comments about Phonic MK50 Keyboard Amplifier:

Well. I am not a keyboard player. But I use this to monitor my sequences in a weekly gig. So far it has worked fine (2 years). I am not too picky with my sound, I got 2 Roland keyboard amps and of course they sound better and louder but this Phonic does the job in a more than satisfactory way. I got it as a throw in with a Korg M50, and I am happy I got it that way since I didn't need a third key amp. If you have high expectations go for something else. If you just need to work out your gig I would recommend this one.

            Nice for Practice

            By Michael Drew

            from Midwest

Comments about Phonic MK50 Keyboard Amplifier:

Its pretty decent for what it is. I've purchased other Phonic equipment in the past and have been pleased with it. In general their stuff performs as advertised and has decent features, but does not seem to be super rugged. The stuff I have purchased has been for use in my studio and works great for that. I'm not sure I would plan to take this stuff out to a gig though, at least not on a regular basis. I'm not sure it would hold up to much abuse, but works great for sitting in my studio. This particular amp has decent tones when the EQ is set flat and does have a four band eq, so decent amount of adjustment if you need it. Its loud enough for pracitce in a small band (no drums) but would need something larger for a full band. The reverb built into the unit is ok, not great, but does add a little something if you need it.

            it was terrible and disappointing
it arrived with the innards completely unconnected
there was a huge puck-like magnetic piece that looked like it had once been glued
            but now undone
            totally unusable

Comments about Phonic MK50 Keyboard Amplifier:

Works fine at lower volume. starts clipping at a lower volume than I would have expected, but it's a nice practice tool when away from my studio. I would buy another. It takes up very little space.
2 channel, no XLR. Couldnt expect more for the money. I like the fact that it can be used upright or, and a wedge monitor. Reverb is ok.
I'm using it as a practice rig with a small mixer and bass guitar in it.
works fine out of the box, but i've only had it for 2 weeks. I have 5 power amps, a powered mixer, and 2 Speaker cabs made by Phonic, and all have been great!
can't beat it for the price
