Legendary Pignose portable practice amp.

The Pignose Legendary 7-100 Portable Amp is their original portable practice amp, complete with pig-snout on/off switch and volume control. The case opens for easy access to the amplifier's speaker and other insides. You can even have a friend fan the case open and closed for a wah-wah effect!

The Legendary Pignose Amp also offers a preamp out jack for plugging those classic distortion sounds into an external power amp, PA, or recording console. This little Pignose is a quality-built amp with metal corner protectors, tough covering, and a rugged 6" speaker. The portable Pignose Legendary 7-100 weighs just 5 lbs and runs on batteries or its optional power supply.

It is light, loud, wireless. I might take this thing outside and play. It's like an amp that can be taken to a party or a friend's house or a band practice without any hassle. It is just so portable. And great for AC/DC, White Stripes, (some) Led Zeppelin, and sure even some Jazz. It sounds nice and creamy on the neck pickup. I just wish I could bring down the mids and add some lows to the tone, but I'll be getting an EQ pedal soon so it won't be a problem for me.
Just a single knob. Volume stays the same when the knob reaches about 3/4s turned, and from there on it just adds overdrive. The first five minutes of fooling around with this thing I was extremely dissapointed. It is tiny. I mean so, so small. But then I learned how loud it is. I play in front of my high school in the gymnasium every month or so, and I am sure this thing would be loud enough. I also like that there is space inside the amp for cables. The DC out or whatever is wierd though. It didn't fit my Danelectro AC DC adapter or the one that came with my electro harmonix freeze, so I was forced to use 6 AA batteries. And an EQ knob would have been nice. At least something to lower the mids.
Built like a small, leather bomb shelter. I'm sure it'll last awhile. Haven't had mine long enough to learn how long the 6 AA batteries will last though. Tone is good but it's just so much mid range that it is only good for rock and roll. This is only my second amp (my other one is a Fender Frontman 65r) and this little guy holds up (volume wise) with the 65 watts of the fender. But I noticed that my fuzz pedal behaves differently with this amp, like it is more fierce and bright. Also, there is a lot of pop in this thing. Like if I were to hit a string hard (like I usually do) then there would be a popping sound. Nothing a compressor couldn't fix though. Overdrive is great! I just wish I didn't have to turn the up so dang loud to get it. Otherwise I would disturb my parents.
I would pay a hundred dollars more than what it is priced at for this amp. It sounds great.

Even the greatest legends will fade with quality control issues. If it wasn't for my pigheadedness I would have sent this amp back. The battery pack was not installed correctly and thus the AA batteries would not properly connect, leaving this amp with no power because of the gaps. As a result my first impression of this amp was dead on arrival. However, a little tinfoil goes a long way and with a couple of sheets stuck between the batteries and the battery connectors this amp was ready to go. I've had no other issues and will keep it despite the defects. Buyer beware!

Comments about Pignose Legendary 7-100 Portable Amp:

This amp is a must have for any musician. Got someone that plays that doesn't have one? Gift it, and they will be forever thankful. This little jewel is just perfect for sitting around the house strumming plugged in, keep it low. And when you a ready to turn it up, get ready for volume that you won't believe from this 5 pound box. Very solidly made. Only issue was when I first put in the batteries, I had no sound, but after moving ( l-r) 4-6 back into the holder, it worked. Have to be a little nimble and patient the first time you load up the 6 AA and get the 'feel' for how they 'click' in. In the small amp category, this one is the KING.

      I have a vintage Bandmaster Reverb (head+cab).
The Pignose won't replace it....but it's easier to carry around, and what a sound for such a diminutive box !
I now never travel without it

Comments about Pignose Legendary 7-100 Portable Amp:

This little thing has such a unique sound, that for the price, you can't beat this addition to your tool box. Sound is crunchy and vintage, and the amp looks super cool. Kinda limited on functions (just a master knob), but there are quite a few different tones you can hit with tone control on your guitar. All in all, great little purchase!

Comments about Pignose Legendary 7-100 Portable Amp:

Bought this amp to take to my buddy's house when I go over there to jam. Amp sounds great, easy to use, looks good too. Wish they would have taken the time to clean the interior of the amp, it was littered with debris from manufacturing. The battery holders have a small tab on the positive receptor to align the end of the battery with the electrical contact, mine were too close to the contact and would not allow the battery to complete the electrical connection. As a result the unit would not work on battery power until I removed the locator tabs ( four of them ). Overall it is an amazing little amp for the size and the money.

I have wanted on of these amps ever since I first saw one in the film Crossroads. This thing sounds amazing, muddy, gritty, fat tone with the cab closed. Open the cabinet and you get a great treble sound, very good for country picking. I love this amp, I bought it as a novelty piece, but it has now become the main amp I play in my bedroom. The Legendary Pignose lives up to its title! Great reproduction, a chance to own a piece of history! Comes with several awesome Pignose stickers.
