OVERVIEW

Pigtronix Gatekeeper is a lightning-fast, studio-quality noise gate pedal that locks out all unwanted noise from any rig. Sporting threshold and release time knobs, the Gatekeeper provides 100% attenuation with unprecedented response time, making it one of the most useful and effective noise gate pedals on the market.

Pigtronix Gatekeeper utilizes ultra-high speed J-FET circuitry to completely eliminate hum, hiss, buzz and any other non-musical sounds from your signal path. The wide range threshold control combines with superior headroom to deliver smooth, transient response and warp-speed time constants previously available only in rackmount, studio-oriented noise-gate processors. These extreme performance characteristics allow for musical gating even under the most punishing demands of high-speed metal. The addition of the release time knob allows the user to control how long it takes the gate to slam closed.

Mercilessly cutting out any and all sounds you don't want to hear at the very instant you stop playing, the Gatekeeper will allow players to crank up the volume without fear of hearing the annoying 60-cycle hum or white noise that plagues most high-gain rigs.

A noise gate that keeps the hiss, hum and buzz at bay.

Comments about Pigtronix Gatekeeper Noise Gate Pedal:

As of right now, it's coming off my board and going to my practice rig. It's a fast gate. Reminds me of the old digitech gates. Seems like the highs don't get through it so good.

It will be fine for those of you who run really high gain, and do a lot of fast drone djenty stuff, but my isp decimators outperform it.

Thought I'd try it out. 18v pedal is a plus.
Just not for me. It does work though.

Comments about Pigtronix Gatekeeper Noise Gate Pedal:

I got this noise gate at the same time I built my first pedal board. Initially I only had three pedals so I never bothered with getting one. I now run eight pedals, including this one, and this gate makes a world of difference. It took me a little while to dial in the responsiveness to get it exactly where I wanted it, but since getting it I rarely turn off the pedal. Once engaged, there is no hum, hissing, or white noise at all in my signal chain. Another really nice thing is the ability to dial in the release. This works great for cutting your sound short or allowing longer sustain. The only pedals I use after this one in my chain is a delay and a reverb. I like having the echo effects independent of the gate.

One major note about this pedal is that it is 18 volt and does not have a battery compartment. You have to plug it in by either the included power supply or a pedal board power bank that has an 18 volt output. I use the MXR DC Brick and it works perfect.

Comments about Pigtronix Gatekeeper Noise Gate Pedal:

No complaints...but then again I am using this for line-level sources, so can't comment on how this would work with guitars (haven't tried it on a bass or 6-string yet). Emailed Pigtronix and verified that the freq response is 20Hz-20kHz when engaged. Have used it to keep noise at bay on a long effects chain (echo, reverb, etc.) after a Dave Smith Mopho, and the controls allowed me to dial in effective noise gating without adding any odd artifacts such as "stuttering". It's a small pedal, so can be wedged into a busy pedal board. Would definitely buy again when on Stupid Deal.

Comments about Pigtronix Gatekeeper Noise Gate Pedal:

I took advantage of a SDOTD offer on this pedal and I couldn't be happier. The Pigtronix Gatekeeper does exactly what I was hoping it would do - clamp down on all the hiss coming from my amp head when I'm using its high gain channel.

The item was not working right out of the box. Musicians Friend made good of it and I replaced it with the Boss NS 2 which works great. And it was less expensive. Stick with a known product as you don't always get what you pay for.
