OVERVIEW

(Open Box) A pedal that bends time and tones to make awesome music.

The Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator produces a parallel universe of analog time stretching effects with only three knobs and a single switch. Reflecting the fundamental principals of modern atomic physics in pedal form, the Pigtronix Quantum can be in any number of places at once and will change in response to both input and observation.

Pigtronix Quantum utilizes multiple bucket brigade delay lines with independent clocks modulated by a continuous blend of envelope and LFO sources. The corresponding sensitivity, speed and source controls are augmented by a Chorus / Vibe switch which allows the user to choose between pure effect or a mix of clean signal and modulated audio. This eminently flexible, yet easy to use configuration, combined with a TRS stereo output provides numerous sound field configurations for mono, true stereo, wet / dry and wet / dry / wet rigs.

Going well beyond the event horizon of existing modulation pedals, the Pigtronix Quantum slams the classic tones of complex rack units such as the Zappa's MicMix DynaFlanger, Lifeson's TC 1210 Spatial Expander & the venerable Roland Dimension D into a tiny and affordable analog stompbox while also blazing new territory that provides a musical analogy to the essential nature of reality itself.

Comments about Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator Guitar Effects Pedal:

ok, quick rundown, .... not a pro, though i do own a bunch of gear and have an acceptable set of ears. play mostly at low volume, nothing on stage, so that kind of stuff i can't speak for. used with les paul style guitar with a duncan jb in the bridge. played thru low watt vox and marshall class A amps.

imo it is an excellent pedal. i gave it five stars, though it probably would be more like four and a half. i really can't complain about anything, sounds great imo. only other analog chorus i have is an ehx memory boy and it blows that away. you CAN set it for a fairly regular sounding chorus, which is cool, does kind of a doubling effect, though don't expect to turn this one on and not be able to tell, it is fairly mild at lowest settings but you still know you turned a chorus on. i rather like it at these settings. my favorite sound is probably with speed set very low, almost all envelope, and the trigger barely turned up. love it like this, sounds like just great chorus to me. i love the concept of the pedal, that you can blend a regular lfo chorus with an envelope triggered one too. works great with gain too imo, and every other
pedal i tried it with.

as for the rest, well the look imo is really cool, and i've had several pigronix products and the finish and build quality of their products is spectacular. i'm not affiliated in any way, just a customer. i'll prove that right now by mentioning that another of the premier pedal makers in the world just released his own version of dynaflanger, so perhaps folks should look around to compare before buying this one. but i can't say a single negative thing about the pedal. you have to accept it for what it is. if you're expecting a million options or tons of tweakability it ain't in here imo. the buttons have pretty wide ranges (could go ever so slightly slower imo, but that's being a little picky), but imo this is a box you're going to find one or two sounds you love and that's how you use it.

Comments about Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Quantum Time Modulator is the most versatile and touch-responsive modulation effect I have ever owned in my 30 years as a professional musician. I was able to dial in classic chorus, vibrato, and flanger tones within a matter of minutes, but the real joy this is exploring new & creative sounds with this pedal. It's fantastic on electric guitar, but I've also found uses for it on electric mandolin, acoustic/electric nylon, and my keyboard.

Good all round chorus with extras

Comments about Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator Guitar Effects Pedal:

The Quantum Time Modulator Chorus works well as a good main chorus -- it has 2 choruses that you can use together or independently (based on blend and sensitivity knobs). The LFO chorus is similar sound to a Boss CE with variable speed per rate knob. The Envelope chorus reacts based on sensitivity knob. So you can pick light with no chorus and as you pick harder the chorus intensifies. Practically speaking, I don't use it much that way. I find having both set slow and light at near 50/50 blend adds some character to my clean sound. Prefer other choruses when blending with overdrive / distortion, but the Quanttum works with those too.

A little pricey, I got it on a Stupid Deal sale. It's a good chorus unit but not a game changer if you have a good chorus already.

Comments about Pigtronix Quantum Time Modulator Guitar Effects Pedal:

This won't replace the CE-1, TC Chorus, or other treasured classics, this really is a new take on the chorus effect. I'm not sure if it is the envelope control or the dual delay lines that makes this shine, but shine it does.

Audio and build quality are what I've come to expect from Pigtronix - outstanding.

The effects I've been able to create with the QTM are wonderful. The guitar swirls around me, and the added control from the envelope follower makes it much more expressive. I'm also fascinated with how well it plays with other pedals, different distortion boxes and delays help me create really nice sounds.

What's not to like? Well some folks don't like the 18V power requirement, and I sympathize, but I have enough of their pedals now that I bought their power supply, problem solved (for now).

And there is a learning curve. For about the first hour I really struggled to get anything interesting out of the pedal. This pedal aims for subtle (odd for a chorus pedal), so my usual approach of treating the knobs as on/off switches frustrated me. Small tweaks, and a mix of LFO and Envelope Follower rewarded me. Even so, it took a bit to coax out tones that made me smile.
