This isn't just a reissue of your old Rat, this IS your old Rat.
When Pro Co decided to reissue a Rat distortion pedal, the company didn't want to just pay lip service to the term "reissue." Instead, Pro Co recreated the WFRAT Rat effect pedal. It followed exact specifications, researched and found the same components, used the original circuit board layout, and of course, added the essential LM308 Chip. The result is the Limited Edition '85 Whiteface Rat, a Pro Co distortion pedal worthy of its heritage.
It's all there, inside that black indestructible steel box—a sound as mellow as a vintage "twin", or as bone-crushingly powerful as a battery of those famous English stacks—instantly, at any volume.
From the sweet wail of the blues to the grinding raunch of the heaviest rock, the Pro Co Limited Edition '85 Whiteface Rat distortion pedal delivers.

Is it twice as good as the standard Rat for twice the price ? Yes it is ! Is it as good as the Rats from back in the day ? Yes, in fact, I think it sounds a bit smoother and creamier than both of my vintage Rats. Buying a vintage pedal is always a risk as you don't know what it had done to it or how it was used by previous owners. This pedal gives you the vintage sound in a more reliable package.
Sorry to be the first comment about this reissue Proco Rat pedal...This pedal is a lame excuse to over price a distortion pedal sound from Proco Rat. I bought the newer version recently which was also pricey but less than this one which is double the cost for the same exact looking pedal. After using this pedal I find it's filter knob to be odd at shaping the sound. If you increase the filter it doesn't act like a mid scoop it increases the bass and drowns out the tone. It gets worse when you turn it the opposite direction.I own it and after giving it a few jam sessions and a lot of tweaking I have decided to put it back in it's box. I wanted a Proco Rat pedal and bought one. I can't see why the higher mark up in price making the same exact pedal 3 knobs that function the same way.
