Natural tone and clarity of a true bypass device with out the noise.

The Bones Twin-City footswitch from Radial Engineering is an active ABY switcher and buffer that enables you to connect any two amps and drive them simultaneously without noise, loss of gain, and without degrading your natural guitar tone. This is accomplished with Radial's highly acclaimed buffering technology and the same Drag Control load correction circuitry as used in the award-winning Radial JD7 Injector. The 'set and' forget Drag Control lets you compensate for cable signal loss and introduce the perfect amount of loading to replicate the way your guitar and amp interact.

To eliminate hum and buzz from ground loops, the Twin-City is equipped with an isolation transformer on output B. This is augmented with a ground lift switch and 180° polarity reverse switch that ensures both amplifiers play in phase while noise is reduced to an absolute minimum even when using older vintage amps that are generally more prone to noise. As a buffer, the Twin-City footswitch lowers the impedance and susceptibility to noise, making it the ideal signal driver for large stages when using long cable runs.

Like all Radial products, the Bones are constructed from heavy 14 gauge steel for greater durability and added 'stay put' when kicked around on a busy stage. For even greater durability, the Twin-City footswitch employs Radial's own EIS—Electronic Impulse Switching—for outstanding performance without the challenges of mechanical switches. Bright, easy to see LEDs deliver on-stage switching cues so you know exactly where you are at all times.

As most players employ pedalboards, the Radial Twin-City features standard 'Boss style' 9V powering that will adapt to most multi-pedal power supplies. The ultra compact design with top mounted output and DC connections allow effect pedals to be placed close together for those wishing maximum pedalboard density.

Features

  • Buffered ABY with Drag load correction
  • Isolated output eliminates hum and buzz
  • 180° polarity sets both amps in phase
  • Compact to fit on any pedalboard

Take command of your performances with this awesome Radial footswitch that's built for the longhaul!

Comments about Radial Engineering Bones R800-7115 Twin City A-B-Y Footswitch:

I own the Radial Engineering Big Shot (comments about Twin Cities below). I use it to split my input signal between a Mesa Boogie Mk III and a Mesa Boogie Rectoverb (and of course a tuner!) I use the Big Shot in this setup primarily to reduce hum with the isolation transformer and ground lift. While this does a great job at reducing hum it does also reduce tone; using this setup my tone is less alive. That of course is the compromise I had to make to run two amps. When I saw that Radial had an active (buffered) version of the pedal with drag control, the Twin Cities) I bought it immediately thinking this would restore my tone. Thinking that this would allow me to get the same tone I get when I plug straight into the amp. Well unfortunately that is not that case.

The twin cities does the same great job of reducing hum from ground loops that the big shot does, but it does not completely restore tone as I hoped it would. By adjusting the drag you can get closer to that "plugged straight in" sound, but not completely there. For that reason I returned the twin cities and am continuing to use the big shot. What I found is that there just is not a big enough improvement in tone when using the twin cities. Also the twin cities does not have a tuner out like the big shot. For reference the guitars I use are a Fender Telecaster, Gibson Les Paul, and Peavey EVH.

Comments about Radial Engineering Bones R800-7115 Twin City A-B-Y Footswitch:

I use my TwinCity to control one amp that is basically clean and a second that has nine pedals that stand between guitar and speaker. Every AB/Y that I used prior to this just left the Phase the way it was, and that screwed me up royally. Not to mention most left my B side noisy and any use of the Y function dropped the volume and tweaked my tone significantly... But then I bought this pedal and everything that didn't work just went away. My tone is back to normal and my second amp roars as loud (if not louder) than my primary.

No tone loss. No Volume loss. No ground loop noise. No phase issues. No brainer.

After struggling with sound quality and signal loss with other ABY pedals, I bought the Twin City and never looked back. It's a bit big but other than that, it's perfect.

              Killer ABY Switch!!

Comments about Radial Engineering Bones R800-7115 Twin City A-B-Y Footswitch:

This thing does what it says. No hum, no pops, no phase, just quiet operation. Plug and play. I use it for playing bass. I run a Peavey 6505 and Ampeg SVT together for djent tones. The 6505 is inherently noisy, but the Twin City DOES NOT add any extra noise. The drag control actually works by boosting the signal so there is no degradation when splitting....nice! Highly recommended.

It does what it says in spades! I use it with my Fender Deluxe Reverb RI and run both channels. The phase reverse switch makes it all happen with great tone.

Comments about Radial Engineering Bones R800-7115 Twin City A-B-Y Footswitch:

This product delivers exactly as advertised. One guitar, into two pedalboards / amps and with quiet operation. I had tried some of the cheaper types by other manufacturers and always got the humming / buzzing / popping but not with this product plus both amps are in phase, no ground loops. It costs a little more but the guts of this little box are probalby why with an isolation transformer inside for channel B and other features. It does not run on batteries because of all the internal extras but worked well with a a spare Fulltone wall wart I have here and should work ok with a regulated powered pedalboard too.The instructions are clear and setup only took about 5 min. I have a Marshall vintage modern tube amp and a less expensive Line 6 solid state amp and the two play very nicely together. This has opened up lots of ideas for me to split and/or combine sound possibilites. Note: Because it is buffered you cannot run it in reverse to connect two guitars to on amp. ( its one-way flow) Radial makes other products that can do that if you like. The drag adjustment on top is used to set the "load", just use a guitar pick works well. I looked at the passive model but I like the features n this one and LED's myself. I gave "value" a 4.5 just because it is a little pricey...but worth it not to hear buzz and hum any longer. Hope that helps

An ABY solution to amp hum and buzzing

Comments about Radial Engineering Bones R800-7115 Twin City A-B-Y Footswitch:

For those who wish to use two different amps with an ABY switching configuration, with little-to-no buzzing and humming added, the Radial Bones R800-7115 Twin City ABY Footswitch is certainly one great solution. After trying several other brand-name and one so-called "boutique" ABY switching units, this one beats them hands down, at a reasonable price for it's capabilities and quality.I am using the Radial Bones with my Vai Legacy Combo stack and my Fender Deluxe VM/Avatar combo stack. I use a Digitech RP1000 multi-effects unit in the Legacy amp loop, using only the onboard effects with my Fender rig...the Radial performs in the A, B, or Y configurations quietly and effectively. The "phase" switch on this ABY unit makes for interesting variations in the sound of both amps when they are running together at the same time.My two main guitars for this setup is my 1979 Fender Stratocaster (custom), and my Ibanez RG350DX (custom). I've been a pro touring and recording musician, vocalist, engineer, and producer for over 39 years. Although I play several instruments, my main instrument is guitar. I play Rock, Hard Rock, Pop, Soul, R&B, Fusion, Funk, Adult Contemporary, Blues, and even some Country. This setup with the Radial Bones ABY does it all very well. I highly recommend this unit.

              BEST BUFFERED ABY OUT THERE!

              By TAB HUNTER

Comments about Radial Engineering Bones R800-7115 Twin City A-B-Y Footswitch:

I've owned one since it's debut. If you're driving 2 amps you really benefit by using a buffered ABY (otherwise you halve the signal to each amp using a passive set-up). I also use the phase-reverse to run both channels of my fender blackface amp at the same time (with blackface amps, the 2 channels are out of phase with each other). Great features. Dead silent. Ground lift gets rid of ground-loop noise like a charm! It's the best ABY you can buy.
