I tweaked it for hours through many of my guitars (Les Paul, Strats, Tele, SG) through a Fender Vibrolux and was always unsatisfied. This thing has a lot of gain, more than I needed. The chords tend to mush up with the gain and I could never EQ it like I wanted even though it offers a lot of knobs and switches. So much crunchy fizz to it. Not the kind of plexi tone I expected. I even rolled off the gain to try to clean it up, but then that just defeats the purpose of the pedal and would just weaken it's sound. I could get away with the tones if I played two strings at a time while power chording or rhythm, but a pedal this expensive... I expected much more. Channel two gets your guitar screaming for a great lead, but it is so noisy it's ridiculous! Who knows, maybe it'll work out for you, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
It's got a lot of customizing options, and you get a variety of tones.
Is very durable and well built.
Overpriced.

Pedal delivers Marshall goodness in spades. I have channel 1 set up for a classic rock Marshall crunch that responds to the volume knob just like the real thing. I tweaked the gain for channel 2 for a hard rock Marshall sound akin to what I can get from my JCM2000 TSL100. It just roars, and I love it.I take a point off on features for having the gain for channel 2 in a trim pot, even if it is externally accessible. The problem is, on a crowded pedalboard, you'll never be able to set it, so be sure you have it where you want it before you mount it on a board.The mid voicings are very useful for fine tuning it to your amp. The pedal can do anything from light, compressed, mid-heavy overdrive, to roaring, scooped (in a good way, not in the guitar-store-shred-kiddie way) full-blown distortion. More gain than you'll ever need. It is relatively noiseless, but at higher gain settings some can creep in, naturally, so be sure to have a gate or NR pedal somewhere.This pedal is on an analog board I built with a Full-Drive 2 MOSFET: the perfect compliment. I'm using it for praise & worship and classic/hard rock. Awesome pedal, awesome quality, awesome tone.

I play through a 65' Twin Reissue because cleans are very prominent in the style of music I play. Unfortunately, so is distortion. I couldn't get the cleans out of Marshalls, so I decided to use a pedal as a means of distortion. I went through EVERYTHING.All the pedals I tried either sounded extremely harsh or really thin.I was fed up with it but decided to take one more shot with the Plexitube. Let me tell you, totally worth it. This pedal is not only the most versatile and full I have ever used, it is also the quietest and does not effect your tone at all. Buy it. It won't disappoint.

I looked at about 10 different distortion pedals and I was disapointed. They all sounded digital and I have a very big problem with digital sounding pedals. I started looking at a the Tonebone plexitube Hot british distortion and I was amazing with the sound. This pedal is very optional. The Radial distortion can play anything from Stevie Ray to death Metal. I was Very impressed and I would recomand this pedal to anyone that loves realy tube tone.

I have searched for a versitile distortion that sounded full and clear to my ears for about two years now. Let me tell you, i search no more! I run this pedal from an ibanez EX (super distortion in the bridge position)to a peavey bandit combo amp. The amount of different sounds you can produce from the hot british distortion is absolutely unreal! It has two channels for lead and rythm, which is SO helpful. I gave a nine on value because it is very expensive, but it is worth every pennie! It has a hard metal casing, so it won't break on you. From that border-line blues crunch to high gain metal madness, the plexitube hot british distortion is the only rock distortion you will ever need.

Had it for a week or so now and I have to admit that, to me it's not worth the price. I'm struggling to get the plexi-ness out of her. Not sure why they called it plexi-tube, but I'm nowhere closer to that "plexi-tone".It's a versatile lil' pedal for the features it offers, the concept is great, however the effects loop strangled my sound/volume and I had to turn it up a little and it never really incorporated the effects into the sound? It was a good idea though. The effects loop is only available for Channel 2, not Channel 1 either.The knobs can be a little confusing at first, but upon reading their manual it'll give you a quick reference on how to operate her, etc. It even gives you a few ideas to start off with, which was cool. It helped, but never really satisfied me.Channel 1 is supposed to be a hot rodded Marshall type sound with minimal Gain invested in it. I could live with this channel if I had to.Channel 2 is supposed to be a lead channel but it was too rough and harsh, no tone and nothing pleasing about this one at all. I'm a metal head and this was the most disappointing channel of them both. It's supposed to be the higher gain channel.I'll try fiddling with the little drive pot in the casing and maybe switching out the tube in her ... but so far I'm very disappointed in it.I tried it in a tube amp and a solid state amp (both on the clean channels and straight into the return jack/power amp in). I turned the knobs for days, no luck.Maybe you'll have the luck. I'm not all that happy about shelling out this much money for what I got.

You will not find a nicer distortion pedal with as little noise and this much body. It is very full, has plenty of variables for settings, and the 2nd channel is a giant plus. I did have to turn down the distortion for the second channel though, it was just too much. With the gain knob cranked it can become somewhat fuzzy, but any pedal is like that. This is very good for rock, and you can even pull a Tube-screamer sound for SRV too. I have owned and played quite a few pedals, and I am still impressed at the lack of hum and buzz. The sound is fabulous too, very full and real, not hollow and lifless like many others. I think the price was a little much, but other than that well worth it.

After playing guitar for 25 years and owning every distortion pedal on the planet, I can say that this pedal is the best I have ever owned. If you want gain, you have A LOT OF GAIN!. The same goes with treble, bass, mids, filters, ext. the flexibility is incredible.you can go from an AC30 to Bogner Ubershall, and everything in-between. If you ever wanted a Bogner/Diesel/Soldano in a pedal, this is the ticket. The only other pedal in this class is the Hot British, but if you need two channels this is the way to go.
