From Radial Engineering comes the Tonebone Vienna Chorus, an analog chorus pedal that features dual-mode functionality. It allows the guitarist to transition between a subtle choral effect for rhythm, and toggle quickly to an exaggerated effect for soloing or special effects.

The Vienna Chorus guitar pedal features a compact footprint and employs standard 9-volt powering for easy interface on any pedal board. Two independent channels with individual speed and intensity controls are provided for each to create two very different sonic textures. With two footswitches, the Tonebone Vienna pedal can be bypassed, activated and toggled between channels quickly for on-the-fly effects. The guitar effects pedal requires standard 9V power supply.

This is really an amazing chorus pedal! It has bullet-proof construction, a lot of flexibility and a nice rich, natural and warm analog tone. It is easily the quietest chorus pedal I've ever used, as well. The effect's signal is equal in level to the dry signal. I don't hear any volume drop or boost when the Vienna is engaged. It is true bypass, so no "tone suck" occurs (my old CE-1 DESTROYED my tone when bypassed). I would put this pedal up against a Boss CE-1 or CE-2, Small Clone or any "boutique" chorus any day. If you like Alex Lifeson's chorus tone on the early Rush albums, Andy Summers, early Pretenders, etc., this pedal will nail those sounds. The Vienna Chorus really deservers a lot more recognition.

High Hopes

I was hopeful this pedal would have an amazing sound but it fell well short. The overall volume drops when you kick in the effect. The chorus itself is very sterile sounding and hollow. It is far from lush. The best sound is the vibrato setting. The fact you can set up two different sounds is a good idea but without a lush chorus you may be able to use two different vibe speeds to make it useful. If you are looking for good strumming and lush sounds, skip this choice, wish I had.
