OVERVIEW

A more affordable Hammett half stack!

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett helped design the signature Randall KH120RHS Half Stack. Working with Randall, Kirk's main goals were to develop a half stack that included his 3 primary signature tones, but was also affordable enough for up-and-coming shredders or high-gain guitarists on a budget. The KH120RH amp head includes dual-gain stages for classic and modern voiced high-gain tones, as well as a pristine clean channel that stays clean even with active guitar pickups. The included KH412 speaker cabinet is equipped with 4 x 12" Celestion Rocket 50 speakers for 200W capability.

I have played guitar for awhile and when I was shopping for an amp I was looking for something in my budget, and something that will last. This amp has accomplished both so far.Features: I gave this a 3.5 for a couple of reasons, this is because it only has two channels, i mean yes you have to gain channels but they are the same thing, something i wish that they put on this amp is a vintage type distortion, unlike two high gain channels. Overall for features i thought it was good just wanted more variety,Quality: The quality of this amp is great. It has held up nicely and have not had any problems with itValue: The value of this amp was the best thing so far. It has a good tone and it is also very durable.Overall: Overall this amp is a definate buy. It is worth the money and I myself have been using it for a year and have had no problems with it what so ever, and it had a killer tone.Get this amp if your looking for something under a thousand dollars, this would be your best bet!!

Short and sweet not at all worth the money. Dont waste your money it costs more to ship it back then its worth. Its loud but thats about it. Weak distortion and not very versitile. My line six flextone 2 combo blows this thing away. Theres plenty of better amps out there for the money.

All I Could Ask For In An Amp

By Grant

from north carolina

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

First off, let me state that i do not use this amp for metal music. Most of the complaints in the reviews are coming from the metalheads who just can't get the sound they want out of this amp. I have played with this amp in bands for about 2 years now and it has never let me down. I use p-90 pickups with a gibson les paul junior running through this amp. The band I use it in is an alternative rock type of band. The tones were always perfect to me. recently though, i replaced this amp with an orange dual terror which was an amazing choice, but for any player on a budget, this amp is a must get. Its a very reliable amp. i'm using it in my current band now, letting my other guitarist play through it. it was honestly one of the best gear purchases in my life. i could not be happier with it.
built super solid
beautiful
The price is a little high, but it sounds as good as it looks.

Not a good amp at all

By vanrosica1

from Kissimmee, Florida

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

I got this because i was looking for an affordable amp that would sound good for metal.Within the first couple of hours i noticed that the distortion was very muddy, and often the level of distortion seemed to change. I might have gotten a defected amp but either way it was still horrible, though the clean sound okay. DO NOT GET THIS AMP.

GET AWAY FROM THIS!

By Kikz

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

this thing made me and my band sound bad today.... well the rythm guitarist tried everything he can to make this thing sound right.... and the overdrive was just.... worst than any marshall MG or little line 6 combos..... just if you see this is on the stage use it in the brighter and crispier clean you can get because you will need to use pedals to sound.... just average... totally TOTALLY... the worst half stack... just hear it by yourself if you see this thing in stores.... thank you and guitar players beware of stuff like this

What you pay for, is what you get...

By LenMetallica

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

I used to own the Randall Kh-120, and i can say after about 2 weeks of owning it, i was not happy at all with the quality of the product. the distortion on this thing is really bad and what makes it worse are active EMGs. It's what my guitar has and i can tell you, EMGs and this amp WILL NOT sound nicely at all together. the distortion sounds all fuzzy and horrible especially with an EMG 60.I have done some research and what also might be contributing to the terrible sound i get out of the EMG 60, overdriven, are the 4 Celestion rocket 50's that are in the cabinet that u get with the amp. the rocket 50's are extremely cheap and sound poor and a lot of people have said that rocket 50's sound terrible with low frequency sounds. and with the huge, fat low end that the EMG 60 has, it has led me to believe that the rocket 50's might be causing the distortion to sound terrible.Do not waste your time with this amp.

Randall and Kirk Hammett are Metal

By jx9g3dlzQ

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

I bought the Randall KH-120 4-12 half stack a year ago. It is the best money I ever spent. The gain is metal. Playing solos on this amp rocks. I own a ESP-EX-400,and a Viper-401, so I own High output guitars and this amp makes it that much better.

Massive tone!

By MCRog06

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

What a beast. I guess some people have gotten hold of a few lemons or something because there's nothing wrong with mine. I'm primarily a blues player but my particular flavor of blues calls for a tone of distortion and this amp delivers. I play a Fender standard strat and a Schecter Hellraiser through and they sound great! You can run your effects straight into the amp and the tone won't suffer(always use a noise gate if running any effects through any amp). If no fx, there's no static or hiss. This amp has a pristine clean tone and great reverb. It also gives some tube amps a run for their money. If you need some serious gain and a loud amp on a budget, this is it!

This is an awesome amp

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

I checked this amp out about a week ago. And I loved it. It has a warm and smooth overdrive, I wasn't really impressed by the clean though, I guess it's because I'm used to playing with a bit of chorus. Overall I wish I had the money right then and there.

A Metal Amp...

By Lucky13-mzMhk

from illinois

Comments about Randall Kirk Hammett Signature Series KH120RHS 120W 4x12 Guitar Half Stack:

For a Metla Player. There are some people who claim this amp isn't worth it. WRONG! this amp is worth every penny, and yes it could be cheaper, but if you want a cheap amp, you'll get what you pay for. this is one of the best solid state stacks i have played on. it's very easy to get a good metal sound out of, you just have to tweak it. the same goes for the cleans.
