I've been a fan of Krank Amps for awhile, but then when I got to try out this new Randall Kirk Hammett amp, I was blown away by just how great it sounded. It is very versatile, and with the MTS system, the amp has endless versatility by buying any module Randall makes. And each one sounds terrific.
I am really enjoying this amp, its powerfull, has great clean , crunch & over the top gain, and it looks cool also.As many tube amps, it sounds better when cranked.Only thing missing: Reverb maybe, but that is not a big deal anyway.I really like the big change that tone controls can make, they're very responsive. There is enough gain for Metal music, but you also can obtain great classic rock crunch from KH2 just dial all pots to 12:00 and youre in classic 80s rock territory.I found this amp to be very versatile, it is not just a "metal" amp. it really can go from blues to rock to metal.
I bought the KH stack as my house practice amp and I couldn't be more satisfied. Comes w footswitch. Buy some quality speaker cables and you are ready. I've played this thing almost every day for 7 months and haven't even tried any pedals through the effects loop yet. It has a nice bright switch feature and the head is midi compatible. The sound is plenty versatile for a variety of styles especially Clean, Blues, and Shred and plays nice with Gibson V, Fender Strat, Jackson RR, BC Rich etc. My favorite sound is with the bass low gain low mid high density low presence high and pre overdriven.
